Coco was in form this week (beating Sakkari and Sabalenka) and Swiatek played her rain-delayed QF just hours ago whereas Coco had a retirement-shortened match yesterday against Barty, plus a day of rest. Iga wound up winning but it was a tough battle. Hopefully she has enough in the tank for tomorrow against Karolina.

Tsisitpas took a late wildcard in Lyon.  I'm shocked! He's playing way too much tennis. It will cost him in Paris.

The Lyon tournament has a great field.

He hadn't done squat until now. Playing in Rome helps too but now Thiem tiebreaker loss doesn't look that bad.

Waiting for Rublev to take a wildcard somewhere.

Swiatek has been better than either Sakkari or Sabalenka on clay though. She's the current RG. As much as I like Coco, her second serve and tendency to overshoot was going to let her down against Swiatek. If anything, at 19, Iga was even more energized from an earlier win. It is always a double-edged sword for Coco to have gotten that Haley retirement, she may have been under-prepared to play a RG champion, whereas, had she beaten Simona, she might have looked at Swiatek in a totally different light.

It's amazing that this is still going on. (The complaining about players grunting)

I remember that this was an issue already 30 years ago with Monica Seles. There was even talk that the reason she was so thrashed by Graf at Wimbledon 1992 was because she tried to keep her grunting down after opponents earlier in the tournament had complained, and that it affected her play.

    • You're probably right. They may have just wanted edits of certain characters. Hopefully the rest is around.
    • Of course!

I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
    • Anyway… It’s a shame that the video that depicted Leticia’s death was removed from YT.

    • Ms. Phelps holds a BFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, awarded in 1972. At a time when women were underrepresented in directing programs, she was one of the few women in her graduating class. To suggest that she possessed no further talents than completely changing the style of music used on soaps seems like a vast underestimate when one reads her online biography through an objective lens. I guess that I should be more clever than to constantly blame misogyny for these misguided interpretations of her management style.  But, I'll never comprehend why fans unquestionably align their opinions even years after fact. Post-modernism, and the ability to reinterpret context through the study of history, seems to elude this conversation.

    • This is 100% correct.  It was even on the nightly news where the US Government would not let the cast and crew travel to Egypt because it was deemed not safe.  The Achille Lauro hijacking took place on October 7, 1985, when the Italian ocean liner MS Achille Lauro was hijacked by four men representing the Palestine Liberation Front off the coast of Egypt, as she was sailing from Alexandria to Ashdod, Israel. The location shoot was probably scheduled to be filmed in mid-October to air throughout November with a two week tape to air date.  Remember on the show they did some in studio scenes doubling for Egypt before shifting the action to Arizona.  It was an awkward end to a truly bizarre storyline.

New episode from late 1973 or early 1974!
    • Coronation Street had a very good story where one of the characters befriended a man who she later learned had been involved in her husband's death - when told right it can be very powerful (not like AMC trying to make it a romance). ATWT almost had a big fire in mid-1994, so this seemed to be a "thing" with P&G at the time. I guess it fits the disaster backstage atmosphere.
