GH: Jax's Rape

This Irina woman is disgusting. I hope she doesnt stay on long. Im not big on Jax, but having him beat up, holding a gun to his head and threatening to kill his family, while tying him up and forcing him to have sex is sick. What is up with ABCD? They had Margeret rape Todd on OLTL 2 years ago. Irina better not become pregnant from this and have this be an obstacle between her and Jax. I hate this storyline and where its been going

Having a male be raped isn't a problem for me. We've had a lot of violence towards woman in daytime after all. I just don't like the fact that they are blurring the lines here. It reminds me of the Ridge/Brooke rape on B&B and Sammi/EJ on Days. Either make it a rape and be clear about that and call it that or make it consensual. Don't put a gun to someone's head or threaten the lives of a family member and call it anything other than rape. That's just offensive.

Male rape is such a BAD idea for soaps, because in order to explain it, you have to get very technical. If this is based on traditional male/female sex, doesn't the guy have to be aroused first? How does the woman get what she wants if he's too repulsed to be turned on? At least Julia on ATWT gave Jack enough viagra to stiffen King Kong.

Just because you are attracted to a persons body doesn't mean that they are allowed to force themselves on you. To me that's like saying because a woman was attracted to a man it gives him the right to force sex upon her. It's the same thing. Just because the body has an involuntary reaction doesn't mean it's not rape.

I don't see how the character being male makes a rape storyline any more exceptable or any less powerful. The problem is that most writers never want to delve deeply into the issue and thus they take away a powerful aspect of the story.

That "involuntary reaction" isn't going to come about just because she holds a gun to his head. Therefore it's pretty hard to rape a man in the way they depict on GH. I have a man's body, and I'm pretty sure it's a real hassle without his physical cooperation(if you know what I mean). But GH is going to write it as if this sexual assault was a big success for the perpetrator. Bull. The only way that'll happen is if...

But you and I both know that NO soap will do that. So logic suggests to me that this is creative license gone wild.

No doubt this is a contrived situation, but I guess the point here is that he better cooperate physically because his wife is being threatened if he doesn't.

But what if he just got aroused because Irina is hot or out of a fear reaction? "No" means "no" even when it's a guy and even if he has a woody. What if it were a woman who got physically aroused during rape? Does that mean she wants it? No way.

I consider what's happening to Jax rape because he isn't free to make his own choice. He's being coerced.

That's exactly my point. Maybe Jax was attracted to her body. That doesn't mean he is any less of a rape victim in this storyline. Since he was forced into having sex with her. Hell she even chained him up, beat him and then threatened his loved ones.

    • Yeah, not sure why Jack and Jen didn’t rush to Marlena - or even Carrie - to offer their condolences. A few flashbacks would've been a nice touch too. Instead, we got a whole episode of them talking about Chad and Abby? Come on. On the bright side, I loved Anna’s scenes with Marlena and Carrie - sweet and heartfelt, felt like a real 80s throwback.
    • Martin and Smitty were designed to avoid the stereotype of gay men sleeping around (which to an extent is true). If you recall Martin had a line about them not being open when Chelsea came to talk to him. The producers are walking a very fine line right now and it might not be popular to say but I can understand it. Establishing enough footing to ward off complaints will let them showcase gay characters more openly later.
    • The week was decent. They have started to rotate their stories and finally got a rhythm going. I disagree about them allowing every character to have a moment to shine though. Nicole really hasn't been given anything to do. I completely agree with all this. I adore Doug and hope he makes it through.

    • There was the one appearance in '96, but otherwise, that's correct as far as I know.
    •   It's working fine now.

Question for the B&B group: I see @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded multiple seasons from Videoland  (in the folders that are to be put away). They are huge folders and difficult to download so I started breaking them down into months but I realized they are by season so for example, Season 4 spans from March 1990 to March 1991. Now I'm wondering where to actually place them, since we have the Full Episodes section divided by year, not seasons. And most of these seasons we already have in full, so these are duplicates. Not sure if it's necessary to keep the older versions. I could just make another new section for Seasons, so the main folders would be "Behind the Scenes and Interviews," "Clips," "Full Episodes," "Full Seasons," "Music CDs," and "photo archive Marquise" but I'm not sure that really makes sense. Also wondering since we have almost every full episode now if "Clips" can be deleted in its entirety, as it's nearly 300GB.
    • CBS moving Murder, She Wrote from Sunday to Thursday was straight up sabotage. Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing.
    • I sure hope you’re right. The lack of sets is maddening!
