Some great stuff today. Even if it is only Josh Taylor, it was great to see Roman and Stefano going head-to-head once more. The dialogue for this pair was to die for. And even better was Stefano's discussion with Tony. Loved Tony's mention to being so far removed fromt he DiMera family and his having friends until he was pulled into Stefano's world. Great nod to history.

The cop outside Sami and Lucas' apartment annoyed the plunk out of me. What, is she under house arrest? Lucas is the one who wanted protection for his wife, yet he can't decide to take her out somewhere? That whole spiel was beyond contrived, and obvious used to extend a certain return. I loved when the veiled woman arrived. So exciting.

Comparatively, could care less about everything else. I so prefer Darin's slim, swimmer's build to the jacked Marcus and Trevor. Yay for real bodies! It was nice to see Max have a return to his player routes. Darin seemed like he was havign fun today. Did like his line wondering if anyone had something good to say about Jeremy.

And this Nick and Chelsea stuff is so immature. They both need to talk through their BS beore they hit the sheets like that. How is the writing so unbalanced? Any characters not involved in this set gets beautiful writing, and this set is practically The O.C., minus any adult characters.

Nick and Chelsea are being butchered. I like both of the characters and the actors who play them, but they have been written so bipolar I just don't care AT ALL if they ever get together. I guess they did at the end of the episode though? Doubt we'll ever see them do it though since this show has no beds.

Beach Blanket Bingo needs to stop.

Anna's return is being dragged out too long. The garbage bag thing was on Monday, right? Why did they let us hear Anna's voice but not show her face at the end? Lame. Just get on with it.

Yay for Tony and Stefano arguing, although I wish we could get some explanation for why Stefano went soft. I think Tony being as evil and crazy as he is does make sense given all that has gone down over the years to make him a bitter and frustrated man, but I worry that Hogan doesn't know the real Stefano. I mean before he needed a kidney transplant he was ordering EJ to kill John, Bo and Steve yet now he wants to let bygones be bygones? I need a little something more here.

Good show except for the 20somethings, and unfortunately they were half of the show today. I have zero interest in their story and even Chelsea and Nick, who used to be cute and adorable, are being ruined by awful writing for an awful storyline. And yet the Dimera/Brady story has wonderful, clever dialogue and a real direction.

Stefano does seem to have gone soft, but because Tony has made so many mentions of it I think there's a point to it--maybe it's a ruse, for some ulterior purpose only Stefano knows about? I hope it's not just another case of multiple personality disorder. We've had too much of that lately, what with Stephanie's personality doing a 180 and Chelsea and Nick's circular relationship.

I loved the little bit of Anna.

But hated the beach crap so much I just about wanted to get violent with whoever was responsible for it. This version of Stephanie gets more annoying every time I see her.

Now they have an already annoyingly written Jeremy because he's so arrogant and obnoxious also being a slutty ho of a cheat. At least that blonde bimbo he was cheating with seemed to be a rocket scientist in comparison with the way they're writing this Stephanie. But this Stephanie is still way too annoying a Valley Girl to ever be tolerable.

So they juxtapose some good Dimera stuff with all that horrible beach crap. I can't figure out what they're trying to prove.

And after all this time I still can't see why they brought Nick in and tried to foist him off on the audience without showing his parents and trying to ease him in after we saw the much more interesting parents. I just don't think I like the Nick character (but I do like the actor who can actually act unlike someone else.)

At this point I'd rather see the cop who's guarding Sami play Jeremy than the annoying "Ken Doll" who's playing him now.....

I just watched the clip Keith posted, and saw Don Diamont who I never knew was on Days. He looked stone faced even back then, and even more so now since his face is pumped full of botox......

It was a pretty good show today.

I have to disagree about the writing of Nick and Chelsea. I thought it was good today the way Nick said he wants her by his side in 10 years and so on. They are acting their age. I don't like Jeremy either (even though he was hardly on today) but the rest of the 20 somethings are acting their age. It's annoying but that is what people this age do. I like Jett and can't wait to see where they go with him. The writing for Stephanie is improving IMO and I wonder what she will do when she learns Jeremy is cheating on her. Darin clearly had fun today and I hope we see more of him. His talk with Chelsea was nice and the return of his playboy side was fun.

I did not like not seeing Chelsea/Nick make love. I don't care about seeing the whole event but show us something. We have no clue if they even went that far or not but whatever. Their scenes were good.

The cop with Sami and Lucas was funny. I am so glad to see Lucas being less annoying and working with Sami. The return is not being dragged out. Really, it only began today with the woman showing up. You can't count Monday and Tuesday with the disk and clock. The show is moving fast enough. It can't possibly go any faster without being a mess. Good ending with the reveal. Keeps people on the edge.

Tony, Stefano, and Roman was my favorite. JT handled it well. Good dialogue and I loved how Tony noted how the vendetta changed him. Interesting. That and Stefano laying into Tony (I was surprised Tony was behind Lexie's disappearance) and Tony going off on Stefano about how much he has changed was good. I have a feeling Stefano is up to something. That look on his face after Tony said that was a hint I think.

Tomorrow and Friday look AMAZING!!

I was really distracted when I was watching DAYS today so I'm going to go back and watch it on the DVR sometime tonight. I didn't catch the "10 year" part of Chelsea and Nick's discussion that PhoenixRising referred to. Most of my complaints about Chelsea/Nick refer to last week, when everything seemed to be fine between them at the police station and then she starts crying on Jett's shoulder and bringing up the Billie situation again. I really thought that was in the past. And it seemed like a lot of drama over a couple missed calls, but they are really young and sometimes things get blown out of proportion.

I wasn't surprised that Tony was behind Lexie's imprisonment in the tunnels. I KNEW Stefano would never do that to his Alexandra; however, I do believe he's up to something. Great dialogue with Tony/Stefano and also with Roman.

    • I recall @Chris B asking about this but here is an interview Sheri Anderson did with SOU back in the fall of ‘89: Here is an article that I think is interesting, it is an interview with Shery Anderson, screenwriter of the ninth season THE WRITE STUFF: FALCON CREST’S SHERI ANDERSON: FROM DAYS TO NIGHTTIME By Richard Spencer Soap Opera Update, 1989 : At a time when the success of nighttime soaps is shaky, Sheri Anderson, former headwriter for DAYS OF OUR UVES, ANOTHER WORLD, GUIDING LIGHT and GENERAL HOSPITAL, makes the jump to the evening format with some new ideas to help strenthen the CBS California vineyard based soap opera FALCON CREST. "FALCON CREST is going to have a differnet tone that it never had before," headwriter Sheri Anderson expiains. "The people that I am working with are kind of an interesting mix. The executive producer, Joel Sumow, did the first years of MIAMI VICE and THE EQUALIZER, Bob Cochran, a Harvard MBA,and Cyrus Nowrasteh, who has done a number of features, are story editors. I am co-porducer, with a history in daytime, so we are a real different mix. We all kind of balance each other out in different ways. I am sort of the emotional side (coming from daytime) and they are more the gritty side." A lack of focus is what Sheri attributes to FALCON CREST's problems the last few seasons. "No one , seemed to knwo that the characters' motivations were. Pilar was a real good example. No one seemed to know what she wanted. This season it is clear that Pilar wants Lance. That is really her dream and goal tokeep Lance. She will do anything to do that. She will be making some sacrifices thís season that really jeopardize her relationship with Lance." While Pilar's character may be strongly in place, Maggie's is not. How will the show restructure in light of Maggie's drowning? " We are not trying to replace her, but we are adding another kind of strong heroine character. That character is Laruren Daniels. She's very earthy; married to a construction worker. Lauren. is the sister of Michael Sharp, Gregory Harrison's new character. "Michael is an extremely powerful adversary to Richard Channing. He will be more cynical than Richard and less emotionally motivated. For Michael it is all power and money. The audience will be more sympathetic toward Richard. He will be going through hell," Sheri reveáis with doom in her voice, "...Paying for his past sins " The complete opposite of Richard or Michael's intensity is the the new character of Charlíe St. James."Charlie is every woman's foolish choice," Sheri character sketches. "He's kind of indescribable; charismatic, totally unpredictable, charming, unnervtng. He's coming in as a love interest for Emma. He will be the first man to make Emma feel like a woman. She's really not victimized by him...she’s addicted to him. Charlie's presence will make her a little less flakey this season." But Emma is not the only one in store for major personality changes, also in the categroy is Frank. "We arebringing back somebody from his past," Sheri reveals "there will be a great secret that will come to ight." Speaking of characters from the past, are there any Sheri would like to return? "Everyone is fond of Ana-Alicia in her original role. At this point we don't have any plans to bring her back because we have some other character that are going to take the forefront." And if one thing is going to remain the same, it will be what Sheri recognizes as the theme of FALCON CREST "Quest for control of Falcon Crest. We have people trying to take control, and they are all taking it for different reasons. Some are emotioanl, some are revenge, but they each have a different eason for which they want Falcon Crest. And that is really the pivotal center. It is very earthy." Keeping the core of lite show intact is not the only thing nighttime shows have to do to stay interesting and acording to Sheri"I din't think night time shows have kept paces with changes in the viewing audience," Sheri answers by analyzing what exactly is primetime soaps* problem. ln datyime, you do over the years the shows stay on, but you are adapting to what people are accepting:faster-paced, or slower, or addíng more comedy, depending on the audience, and what they are buying. I don't think some of these shows in primetime have done that "We are trying to make the show as much episodio as it is continuing. We are cutting down the number of scenes in each act to get the audience more involved. But some of the shows, and this happens in daytime al so, don’t let the characters really grow," Sheri certainly made chracters develop during her daytime career, but especially on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, which is the source for her favourite stories of her careen ”When Víctor carne to Salem and revealed tha the was really Bo’s father, it caused such a ripple effect for Kim, Shane, Román, Bo, Hope, Caroline and Sean. I also liked bringing Kayla back for Patch.” Having written for Kristian Alfonso' s Hope (DAYS) and now Pilar on FC, Sheri distínguishes between the two characters. "Pilar is a woman, but Hope was growing up. Hope was more innocent and Pilar is not Pilar has an intelligent strength where Hope did all the wrong things for all the right reasons." Pilar wíll be the only one retuming from her family, while Angela Channing’s appearances will be limited (per Jane Wyman's contract). "But Richard will be taking a very strong role which is very similar to Angela Angelad presence will be felt in every epísode/ Sheri informs. A lot of people complained about the women of FALCON CREST being wishy-washy They certainly aren't this season Sheri emphasizes. "Lauren will be strong, especially after her brother Michael steais Richard’s children and places them with her, Frnak’s step daughter will be very devious, indicateive of Kathleen Turner in “Body Heat” And Gregory Harrison is fabulous," Sheri reports with joy. "He is so different from his character on TRAPPER JOHN, M.D He is very similar to Michael Douglas in the film 'Wall Street'. FALCON CREST viewers will find a much richer textrae, getting away from the glamour and really going to substance and style." Sheri concludes, "it will be a show to watch, We are trying to bring in a new audience, and at the same time, respect our past audience."
    • Well, if he's had a series of mini-strokes along the way (which, IIRC, he did), then that influences things. I can say, from my experience of having had two full-blown strokes, that recovery periods were very, very different, both in terms of difficulty and length of time.
    • Whhhhhhhhhhhattttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was everybody out this weekend.
    • She did have a thing with him in the late '90s, before she inexplicably disappeared with no mention as to why, although I can't remember if they had sex.
    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
    • Oh. That. I pretend that never happened.

I did think of another possibility. Did India ever sleep with Alan? They kind of toyed with pairing them up, but I'm not sure they ever became lovers.
    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
