The Canadian screenwriter-director is set to take on his latest project - the screenplay for the next James Bond movie, Variety reported yesterday. The multiple Oscar winner will tackle the 22nd edition of the blockbuster franchise, working from a draft by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade. Haggis also put in writing work on the most recent Bond film, Casino Royale, which was widely credited with refreshing the film series. Variety also reported that Marc Forster will direct the new Bond film. Best known for his work behind the camera on Stranger Than Fiction and Finding Neverland, he is currently working on the big-screen adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's novel The Kite Runner. The new Bond movie will begin filming in December.
June 21, 200718 yr Member Correct me if I'm wrong: ALL writers collaborated on "Casino Royal" already so the artcile is bit off? Anyway, this is good news. Still, every time I read the name Paul Haggis I get melodramatic. Thanks again CBS for cancelling the brilliant "Family Law" - the fact the man behind the show has won two (?) Oscars afterwards should speak volumes what a wise decision that was...
June 21, 200718 yr Member Paul Haggis earned my distaste the day he took potshots at Brokeback after Crash (a film I liked but did not think was that good) was called on undeservingly winning too many awards because it was the safer movie for Hollywood liberals who just didn't feel comfortable being "that liberal." But he has done good work on the past. I preferred some of the other names who were linked to this project, not him. Edited June 21, 200718 yr by Vee
June 23, 200718 yr Member I agree Vee. And I have major problems supporting anyone who is part of "That CULT" - Scientology
