ATWT: What are your thoughts on Cleo

Ok, so today for the first time in a few weeks I choose not to watch, and it was for the same reason why I did not watch a few weeks ago and that is the invasion of Cleo(Gwen). I don't know about anyone else but this pretty much has to be the most stupidest storyline on ATWT in years if not ever, and I am really getting sick of it being the focus of pretty much every show, and even on some shows the whole thing is practically Cleo(Gwen).

Well you know my views on her. ;) Nice seeing Barbara with her today though. Wish she would have figured out it wasnt Gwen. Although I know who will.....hehe.

I love both Gwen & Cleo. I would rather Gwen/Cleo everyday than Katie, Brad, Luke, Alison, or Emily.

From what little I've seen, I don't think Jennifer Landon has the chops to pull it off. It takes more than throwing on some fake teeth and squinting the eyes to pull off a dual role. Martha Byrne did it to perfection. I don't watch this show full time, I see snipits of taped scenes after Days ends. I mainly love getting to see Jade - for purely shallow reasons :D

The story is a waste of time. Jade's motivations make no sense and if I were Gwen, I'd be offended that some homeless girl could easily impersonate me and have no one be the wiser.

I also agree that Jennifer doesn't have the skill yet to develop a second character; especially when Gwen's focus is so lacking. It does take more than altering your voice to differentiate between look alikes.

I love Gwen and Cleo as well. I also think that Jennifer Landon is doing a wonderful job with this storyline. I can't wait to see what happens with it. This storyline has me interested in the show again.

I agree--I don't think JL has the chops to pull this off. This would not have won her an emmy, imo. Excessive blinking and a lisp are not character development. But, I do get the feeling Cleo will not be a permanent addition to Oakdale, like Rose came to be.

I don't like Martha, and I hated Rose, but seeing how bad it can be, does make me acknowledge her skills.

not liking Martha or Rose aside, you can't deny she did the dual role very well. She had a completely different persona from when she played Lily to when she played Rose, if you wern't thinking about it - it was very easy to forget it was the same person doing both.

In the beginning, Martha did a good job keeping their personalities separate. By the end, as Lily's airtime started picking up, they became blurred.

And I never forgot it was Martha doing both. I did marvel at how well the technical aspect was done and the girl doubling Martha "fit" in the scenes.

I really like Jen Landon. This show has completely over exposed her. I suspect because she's cheaper than using the vets. Unfortunately they've managed to make Gwen boring and Cleo one of the most annoying characters on the show. It's going to be a long hard summer in Oakdale unless something changes fast.

I loathe the idea. It's beyond ridiculous! It also takes more time away from the vets worthy of airtime.

As for JL and having the chops to pull this off, I don't watch that Cleo creature enough. But from what I've seen, that over-the-top tick is absolutely horrendous. Jen is trying too hard to be "Cleo", so it's coming off as cheap. I'd like for Cleo to go away and for JL to sit on the back of the stove for a while. Her airtime is downright ridiculous!

I am losing my patience with ATWT. I waited long enough for Lucinda to get a storyline, and somehow, JP managed to screw that up. Why is that deviant Paul and the porno whore anywhere in the vicinity of this story? And Meg? BULLSH!T!

I like the storyline but I hate Cleo (not because the character is horrible) but because the writers are writing her to be annoying. I think JL is doing an excellent job with the character. Especially in her scenes with Jade. Its amazing how Jen can switch from 1 role to a completely new one and still put in maximum effor in both. Yesterday was an excellent episode and the storyline definitely became more exciting for me. The only reason I don't like it is because Jade will be made to look like an idiot (which she is for doing this).
