The Logan Report by Michael Logan

TO The Rescue:

SoapNet's I Wanna Be a Soap Star lost credibility last year when its grand prize - a 13-week contract role on One Life to Love-went to the charismatic but talent-free Mikey Jerome. (He was dropped by the ABC soap ASAP.) And now Soap Star has competition; In Turn, the vastly superior suds-star search at cbs.com. What to do? Bring in an icon. When Soap Star returns in August the prize is a gig on Days of Our Lives Hogan Sheffer as a judge - the first time the person who has to create a role for the winner will actually sit on the panel. "I'm taking this very seriuosly," says Sheffer, a quadruple-Emmy Winner. "This is no throwaway contest. We will find a real actor." He and the other judges (Days star Mary Beth Evans and talent manager and Simon Cowell wannabe Michael Bruno) have already whittle down 60 semifinalists to their dream 10. "I came into this cynical, but I'm floored by the talent SoapNet found," says Sheffer, adding that he "won't be flip or malicious with my comments. Let Bruno be the bitch."

YAY!! MY MARY BETH!! :D .

Hogan loves her so I shouldn't be surprised. He probably convinced her to do it. I wonder if they decided to change judges based on last year's fiasco. I am happy though and it's nice to hear Hogan speak. Wish he would talk about Days but whatever. He seems ok and like his usual self so that is a good sign. It's also a good sign for Steve/Kayla fans worried about them being cut loose as MBE is going to be a active part of this.

Can't wait to watch!! Should be fun!!! :D

Ryan, if you were unaware, a woman sued (I believe successfully) because a man once said "Get thee to a nunnery!" Sounds innocent enough, but the judge ruled that it suggested she was a slut, and had ruined her reputation.

I'm pretty sure I read, in my law classes, that "bitch" is one of those iffy words as well. Particularly in today's society, with its implications of gay prison sex.

In other words, Hoagn betta CHECK himself befo' he WRECKS 'imself!!

...Why is there no free clinic for you? This is what the Reagan health care policy wrought.

Michael Bruno is the bitchiest queen I have seen on TV in years. Anyone who wants to act shocked about his orientation needs treatment, nor do I think Hogan Sheffer was referring explicitly to it.

    • yes. today Monday's episode started with words displayed "part 1" and ended with "to be continued"
    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.
