Members Tishy
I grew up with Days and this saddens me so. I hope she is pain free. My thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family
Members Mitchapalooza
OMG how awful...poor Frances. The thought of never seeing Alice Horton on DAYS again just makes my heart ache! No doubt the show will be addressing this soon....how emotional for everyone at the show...Reid is so respected there, I just cannot imagine how everyone is feeling about this. :( :(
Members danthig
Even though I don't watch DAYS that much these days because of it being boring, this is really sad news because at first I thought Frances Reid had actually passed away. But it looks the beginning of the end for Frances Reid and Alice Horton as well. They better contact Melissa Reeves to come back for a few episodes when Reid and Alice pass on because Jennifer is Alice's granddaughter and Jennifer was close to her grandma. We just lost Anna Lee in 2004,Ruth Warrick in 2005,and now it might be Frances Reid's turn in 2007.It would be a sad day for daytime tv. Members Ridge
Makes you remember Melissa Reeves last moments with her at her farewell. Frances was so verbose and vocal about her leaving. I'm sure Melissa would return for this (hopefully permanently) any type of Brady-DiMera feud could involve J&J, they did a good job of involving them last time. Members DrewH
It's very sad. I think things are starting to become more clear now though. Doug and Julies rise in airtime. More characters of the past returning. I see so many people returning for this, or at least they had better. These are the characters I would want to see return for the funeral: Jack, Jennifer, Marie, Mickey (John Clarke), Mike, Melissa and Laura. I would also add Calliope, just because she recently returned to the show. That's not a lot, but it's the reasonable list. I don't see the show bringing back the likes of Don Craig, Neil Curtis, Tommy, Sandy, Sarah, Steven, Spencer, David and Scotty Banning, or any other cast member that hasn't been with the show in the last 15 years. Half of the people have passed away, or were children when they were on the show and I can't see them casting people just to bring on the characters. Members Brandeis
An episode like that, better yet a whole week, of Alice dying maybe in her own home, own bed, peacefully (offscreen of course) and all of her family and friends coming to be with her, talking about her life, in the end would be a great send off. The only problem is Frances Reid might see it, understand it, and it could worsen her condition. (or let's be realistic, if she suffers dementia, it could make life difficult for her caregivers too). We don't know her personally but we will need to say goodbye. It's an odd thought, but when that comment about DAYS ending in 2009 was made, one of my first thoughts was "I hope Frances Reid is around to see it end and finally speak her mind" I was so hoping there's be a big interview with her pulling out all the stops and telling us where all the proverbial bodies are buried. Members Evan
You'd hope they bring back Missy Reeves for an Alice funeral episode, along with the other Hortons and past characters.
Members PhoenixRising05
I heard she was ill but I never thought it was this bad. THIS IS HORRIBLE . I guess we know why Doug and Julie are back and why she hasn't been used. Her sendoff better do her justice it better be up to her as to how she exits. I am sure Corday asked her at some point what kind of sendoff she would like. They need to do it big with all the proper returns. All living Horton's need to be back for this. ALL OF THEM. Frances deserves a huge tribute (maybe a week or two's worth) with flashbacks and the whole deal. Hopefully, they can get Clarke and Reeves back. I am sure they would return and I still have hope that Missy will return someday but I doubt it. I had a feeling last year this was coming. She could hardly say her lines and she was looking weaker and weaker. She fell apart when Missy left. That scene was sad and I am still waiting for someone to post that on youtube. Frances was so weak and frail on the Christmas show. This breaks my heart knowing we won't see another Christmas with her or that we won't see her at LUMI's wedding or other events. The cast and crew must be devestated. Maybe that is why the cast and crew have been very silent this year. Back in the Fall, they were praising the show and all happy and joyous and this would certainly cast a pall over everything. I am tearing up big time here. Frances has always been like a grandmother to me and she is so loving and gracious. Maybe it's good she won't be on anymore. I don't think I could take seeing her getting weaker and weaker. We knew this day would come and, sadly, it's here. We all need to pray for her and her loved ones, including those at Days. They will need it. They all probably devestated and will be a mess when she passes on. I even hate to type this right now. She is so close to all the vets. Peter and Kristian love her. Missy, Susan, Suzanne, Bill, etc-they must be just beside themself
Members dawn9476
That is so sad but I can't say I am suprised. I like her to get well but I doubt it will happen since she is 90 years old.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
This is sad and I wish her well. I hope they'll be able to give Alice is great send-off, should that every be written into the show. Also, is it too much to ask they we get a show that focuses more on the Hortons? I mean, they are the original core family and I wish the show emphasized the rich Horton legacy they have. I'm tired of the Brady's always chewing up scenery. Members DrewH
I doubt all of the Hortons will be there. Yes, they should be, but they won't be. Lets try being realistic. Not all the Hortons returned for Tom's funeral, so I'm not expecting anything big for Alice's either. I'm sticking with the family members I listed above. I don't expect anyone else. Members dawn9476
Like GH did with Anna Lee and Lila, I don't see them writing out Alice till Frances Reid has passed away.
Members KMan101
I'm devastated. Poor Frances. I love seeing that woman be so joyful on screen. So full of life and beautiful. This is awful. Just awful and my heart is sinking. I'm in tears just devastated right now. I agree with everyone, if they don't address this soon I will be one pissed off viewer. They BETTER bring back Missy, Matt, John Clarke, Maree Cheatam, Lisa Trusel, Jamie Lyn Bauer, a Bill recast (I don't care but Bill needs to be there), they need to have everyone back. If not, it wouldn't be a tribute. And as soon as I heard Corday say Doug and Julie would get major facetime I just knew it had to do with this and when Corday JUST mentioned Alfonso, I dreaded it was because they were killing off Alice. Is there any hope at all Reid will do one last show or is her dementia so bad that she can't? This is ... oh my god this is devastating.
