ATWT: Jean P Ruins Characters

Since Jean has been on the show it seems that when a character needs to make an exit then the character turns out to be a psychopath. This has been done by a few characters who might not have been HUGE characters, could have had potential to go on to do better things.

Mike's cousin Nick...seemed like a good guy, until he turned out to be a diamond smuggling, stealing, gun toting kidnapper.

Adam Munson...he likes his brother's wife but who doesn't want to have a good love triangle well obviously this recent death faking, revenge seeking, rapist.

B.J...We all knew that he had a thing for Katie and let's face it Brian Gaskill is a very popular actor.

Craig Montgomery...Craig has never been the best "guy" in town but he wasn't always as evil as a Stenbeck. At least not the Craig I saw from 2003-2005 under Hogan's penmenship.

What I would like to see is Adam stay and have a tortured relationship with Gwen. It worked for Luke and Laura on GH and Jean does like to rehash old story plots (IE. Three teens on the run which was done in 2002 and now being redone in 2007.)

She has got to go right now. As long as this show is under her helm, serious damage is being done to it. Making Adam a maniacal rapist is about as bad as Ben Reade being a serial killer on Guiding Light because he was molested as a child.

Well I've always said that all of the recasts are just new characters with old names. It's like they truly have no idea the person was on the show before. For example, why not cast Austin Peck as Chris Hughes as opposed to Brad Snyder who is 10 years older and Jack's OLDER brother?

ATWT has such a rich history, but the writers don't seem to care AT ALL. Such a shame because it's not as crazy as most soaps so it would be easy to follow. All they have to do is try a little bit, ask some questions and it would improve the story so much.

Funny, as I watched the sick, perverse scenes between Adam and Gwen, I found myself thinking the same thing...Adam should be on the show, and be Gwen and Will's creepy nemisis. IF JP had any talent (and I know that's a huge "if") it would be compelling watching Adam bent on destroying Gwillen, for no other reason (really) than he couldn't have Gwen.

Think about it...Adam and Craig could bond. Craig needs an heir. At least one to fill the gap until they SORAS Johnny. Margo and Craig could battle over Adam's soul.

Not that it will happen, but it's a shame to destroy Hal's oldest son for a six month piece of crap story.

Don't forget Lily. The shenanigans with Damien last summer regarding Luke coming out and now being naive with Craig selling the shares of Lucinda's company. They really have dumbed her down too.

And Emily's psycho storyline last year. Like I know Emily has always been troubled but for her to go off like that? And now parading around town as a hooker?

I think that's the maddening part of it all, yet also cause for hope. As bad as things did get and might be now on ATWT, I still think it's the most eminently recoverable of all the soaps on air because the veterans and history of the show is still there. I'm not sure if anyone's tried to dramatically alter the history of the show, for instance, the way certain other soaps have.

All this means that if a good writer who respects the vets, core families and history comes in, ATWT could improve greatly. But maybe we're hoping beyond hope.

    • In the current environment, while it's small, there is a crumb of good news: Apparently, San Antonio voted for a DEMOCRATIC mayor, Gina Ortiz, beating the "right-hand man" of Gov. Greg Abbott, former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5337199-gina-ortiz-jones-wins-san-antonio/
    • Love this! You are both adorable. Wow
    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.
    •   Dani’s cute ass party planner. He gave me some tea but I was so drunk I don’t remember it.
    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
    • That outfit looks like something Martin would wear lol.
    • Omg not we both ran into people from the show this weekend!
    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.
