Members Darn
Whether or not Eileen Davidson was "stolen" from Days is not a point of view position, it can be factually disproved.
Members Mason
Well, forgive me. Next time, I'll make sure to put a disclaimer on my opinions.
Members Darn
What I'm saying is that it's not a matter of opinion. I'm not attacking your opinion, I'm saying that Eileen was not stolen from Days in any form, she was on Y&R originally and as others have pointed out she was away from Days nearly a year before returning to Y&R. It's like me saying Alexia Thorpe was stolen from Y&R by Days, it doesn't make any sense because it's wrong.
Members darraholic
Renee Jones is a great actress but she just isn't Dru. But I'd watch Y&R full time if it's true.
Members Kendall
I could see Renee as Dru. She is a great actress and Days wasted her talent in the pass 2 years plus, she looks amazing for her age just like Victoria so I would accept her
Members KLN
Renee Jones is really underrated as an actress. When she's given meaty material, she shines. During the baby switch storyline, she was a phenomenon. With Abe's death, she was spectacular (I loved the 'ugly' cries!). That said, I'm not sure she's right for the role of Drucilla. Just because she's black, it doesn't mean she's right for the role.
Members DeeeDee
Exactly. If RJ were to be on Y&R as a totally new character? Great. ...But as Drucilla? Hell To The Naw!
Members Brandeis
I agree, but I admit I am curious to see what Renee can do with the character.
Members David_Vickers
If true, Congrats to Renée. I wish DAYS never fired her. Her role is very important and I miss Lexie, especially any time Abe, Celeste or the hospital is on the show.
Members CRPEMKE
Wow! I'm going to wade in here and try to make this simple, at least for me it's simple. The show doesn't OWE Victoria Rowell anything. SHE chose to leave the show. Now, if TPTB have invested in this story and want to see it continue to move forward then they need to recast Dru. I only watched DOOL a few times so I have no idea if she can play Nu-Dru or not, but I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. I wish her all the best if this turns out to be true. Members DavidsMuse
Yes it is. The original source for this is an imdb Days message board poster, claiming "Soap Opera News" as the source, which is non-existent, no such site or publication. So I'm not giving the Dru recast ANY credibility whatsoever. S/he's also wrong about VI, who we already know has extended his Y&R contract for 13 more weeks, though I'd certainly LOVE to have David in GC for many more years to come after that, his character only now starting to come into his own! Members DeeeDee
There is ONE Drucilla Barber Winters. And her name is Victoria Rowell.
Members Darn
I think my new icon pretty much makes this true for all time.
Members SteveFrame
After years of actresses proving to me they can do certain roles (that is if they are talented) then I would love to see Renee Jones given the chance at Dru. Most people who watched Eileen Davidson as Ashley through the years wouldn't have thought she had Kristen and all those roles in her. I know I didn't. Most people didn't think Rebecca Budig from her Michelle Bauer on GL thought she could play Greenlee Smythe on AMC. She proved everyone wrong. When Ellen Dolan tested for Margo on ATWT - even the producers told her she was wrong for the role. And even fans felt she couldn't do it because of her previous role of Maureen on GL. I personally feel that Renee Jones could possibly pull off Dru. If it is true I will greatly miss Victoria Rowell, but I will not be opposed to the recast because I don't want to see daytime's only featured black family go back to the backburner and I feel that is what will happen without Dru there. And if they were firing Victoria Rowell and replacing her I would be very very mad about it. I am mad that Victoria felt she had to leave, but I don't want to lose the character. Members Chris B
Steve, in those cases you mention it's more the fear of the actress being miscast. Here I just don't think Jones is a strong enough actress to tackle this role.
