DAYS: Looks like the soap might be in trouble.

DAYS is focusing on newer characters WAY too much IMHO. There's been too much of Chelsea, Nick, EJ, & Willow. DAYS needs a big storyline for Bo, Hope, and more airtime for Marlena & John. I think if DAYS is really in financial trouble, they should consider putting Josh Taylor(Roman), James Reynolds(Abe), Peggy McCay(Caroline) & Frank Parker(Shawn Sr) on off-contract recurring, although I really don't want them to go that route. With Judi Evans(Bonnie), Farah Fath(Mimi) & probably Noah Segan(Connor) out the door, and the recently axed Renee Jones(Lexie), who shouldn't been fired IMHO, and Rahsan Orange(Tek), DAYS should have quite a bit of money saved. I am wondering if DAYS maybe paid Mary Beth Evans(Kayla) and Stephen Nichols(Steve) too much to come back. I'm glad they're back, but if their return means the possible axing of Peter Reckell, Kristian Alfonso, Deidre Hall or Drake Hogestyn, then I'd rather they not have come back.

Frank Parker is already on recurring. All that they can do with him is just quit using him that much. The same with John Aniston.

And if the budget is that tight, I wouldn't expect too many appearances by people like the Hayes anymore - even if they are available. Even if they don't have a contract they still get big bucks for their performances because of their years with the show and in soaps.

Oh hell. Nothing is as bad as Passions. Do people realize if Hogan hadn't took over, that Chelsea would probably still be obsessing about her parents getting back together and not thinking about college? She would still be trying to break up Bope. We would probably still believe that Patrick is the father of Hope's baby and Bope would be apart. Phillip would probably still have no clue that Claire isn't his. Steve would be with Billie. EJ would be with Sami. Days is not perfect but it has come a hell of a long way since JER got the boot.

Until recently it was higher. Days only dropped down that low when the show switched total focus to the newbies in January.

Me putting there is not a testament to the quality. I rank my soaps based on quality, enjoyment, balance - my enjoyment has a lot to do with it.

Sorry I just haven't been enjoying Days much lately. This week is better but I still don't enjoy it that much. Days has a lot of wonderful actors, but the ones that are being featured right now are not my favorites. I like them and realize they have fans and are good performers but it just happens right now that all my least faves are being featured a whole lot. Bo is on but I don't like his part of the story but it gets points for having him on. Patch & Kayla were not favorite characters of mine 16 years ago, and even though I respect their talent I don't like the characters. I loved Nichols on GH and loved his character. I love Evans characters on GH and ATWT, but I hate Patch & Kayla. When they get involved in more of an umbrella story I will probably like them more.

As to Passions the quality is not good and Days beats it hands down there and even beats AMC but the two things that AMC and Passions have going for them now is they entertain me. And that goes a long way.

So me putting it at #9 has very little to do with quality. If it was solely based on that DAys would be a lot higher. And probably by next week when I redo my totals it will probably move up again.

    • There probably would have been a good chance they knew of him, especially with his ties to Spaulding and his being involved in so much scandal (meaning there would be plenty of photos and articles around they both would have seen), but I agree the mask was silly, clearly just a TV moment.

    • I think all the suits are fit too tight, except for Jon Lindstrom's. DC lawyers/doctors are not all LA fashion elites. Yes, maybe Tomas would have a more modern cut to his suit, but an established guy like Bill wouldn't go around looking like that lonely button on his jacket was ready to explode constantly.
    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.
    • RIP Wayne Lewis.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
