I think the biggest mistake that was made was giving her complete control over Y&R. After she became EP, she started making changes that have started to ruin the show. Fragmented cast, repeat dialogue, stories that move at a snail's pace, vets getting backburned, the hiring and firings (which may or may not be on her), and stories that start and stop in one episode.

How many times has a story been mentioned, and then dropped sunddenly? Now, MTS is pissed, and rightfully so, because all she does is stand there with her hands on her hips, either talking about bringing Jack down, or how Sharon has f'ed up this time. I don't blame her for being ticked.

People are watching out of habit, but that won't last. And MTS maybe the next one who ask out of her contract because she no longer likes it at Y&R. :)

Sad thing is Roman is that if they stop watching out of habit (which I am still not sure about), it will only feed the cancellation stuff from TPTB. And if Y&R drops it won't bode well for Days coming to CBS.

Days already does not do as great in certain demos that CBS obviously cares about in their soaps. Days screwed over their older more loyal viewers a long time ago. That is the big thing that is hurting Days right now. Older viewers are more loyal and will watch out of habit and give a show a chance. That is not a slam to young people - it is just the truth. I personally do think that Y&R has picked up a lot of ABC fans and ABC is doing a few things but they aren't doing a lot to pull those fans back. Add to that the ones who love Y&R under Latham and they might come out okay.

If Y&R falls I feel like GH is the only one primed right now to take over #1 in daytime. They've had the most consistent ratings since November.

I once had hopes that even though Hogan and I disagree about Days that Days might be able too, but the last few weeks are causing me to lose faith in Hogan. The show is way off balanced and is resembling more of what the last year of Hogan was at ATWT - which I hated very much. Some are saying this week is better, but not for me. I hated yesterday's show - found it still boring. And still way too much of Shawn/Belle/Philip/Nick and Chelsea. I haven't watched today's so will reserve judgment for later. But going on 3 weeks now the show bores me to tears.

I don't think B&B can do it. If Y&R slips, I feel that B&B will too. It is an okay show, but I feel like it is heavily dependant on Y&R just like Passions has always been on Days.

OLTL and AMC have alienated way too many viewers and it is not getting any better.

ATWT is not doing anything to win them over either.

GL was the best soap of January but they don't have enough affiliates to pull thier ratings up that much. Plus they don't air at the same time everywhere and the same episodes do not air on the same day all over the country. That is way too much against them.

So right now I think GH is the only one poised to take #1 for now. I just hope that they continue to do as well after this sweeps as they did after Novembers.

What concerns me about MTS's comments is that it sounded like people are unhappy on the set. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it just sounds like it's not a fun place to be these days and that's concerning. I have this awful feeling the best might leave and we'll be stuck with the rest. I'm actually enjoying what's onscreen, it's behind the scenes that has me worried.

Yeah, with Eileen Davidson and Victoria Rowell asking to leave, things will only get worse. I expect more actors speaking out about botched stories (Kay/Jill for example) or lack of (Nikki, Victor, etc.) and unfortunately more will probably leave. Sharon Case's only story has been as Dru's friend and with Dru gone, will she re-sign? That would be another HUGE loss for the show.

I truly don't expect Latham to last the end of the year the way things are going. The ratings are an improvement, but the behind-the-scenes and public opinion is so strongly negative now.

I wonder what is going to happen when they're forced to end Reliquary, Carmen's murder (with Rowell's exit most likely) and Phelia's story. What does Latham have in store for us next? What LEGACY characters will be brought back to fill the Ashley/Dru void? Will Ji Min get a story? What comes next is the clincher for me as a viewer.

I don't see it ever getting that bad Marland. CBS is too proud of Y&R. I believed they learned from their lessong back in the 70's of not stepping in with ATWT and letting the other shows take over. If the ratings start to show a crumble they will step in with the Bells. It might start getting bad but they will step in and fix it.

    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
