GL: Thursday's "Special" Episode...

Eh... I'll overlook it. A lot of fans probably didn't know that Demming was not in the radio cast and having two current GL actresses playing Meta might have caused confusion for the audience.

Loved Tognoni as Kathy too!

Oh I agree but from what I have read in the past Allison had a problem with the schedule of doing both shows - especially the TV show daily. So it would have fit in to show that since they did mention the performers worrying about doing it. Then Papa Bauer even made the sarcastic comment about them doing it on stage at night too.

I know that the daily shows were a problem for some performers back then - even with the shows being only 15 minutes. Frances Reid who got the starring role in Portia Faces Life when it moved from radio to TV left the show because of the schedule. Of course she would later return to daytime TV and soaps in several roles.

Jone Allison would even later come back to ATWT in a starrring role, but this time it was only on TV.

You make a good point about Allison but Demming is the one I picture as Meta and she was a lovely woman - and Crystal Chappel was perfect as Demming's Meta.

I noticed that they also mentioned Trudy but she never really got much in the way of story did she?

There is a lot of backlash over Tammy's death. I've decided to stop watching the show. Others are boycotting P&G products directly.

When I found out Tammy was dying, the shock stayed with me for a few days. I thought I'd be emotional watching the episodes, but I just grew angrier. Even Tammy's death couldn't be about her. And all for what? More breast beating? The show could've deveoped other stories and opted for a happy ending. In retrospect, the ending was so rushed.

So, I've got no reason to keep on watching. I don't feel not an ounce of synpathy tht GL is being bombarded with phone calls, letters and threats of a boycott. These damn regimes do not listen to their fans. They expect the audience to enjoy whatever they trot as entertainment. I'll be impressed if Guiding Light surpasses the 72 year mark.

I highly doubt it's a large number doing this. Highly, highly doubt it. The days of people picketing studios because of Marlena's "death" or any other soap-related twist is long gone. Instead, a handful of people send Hershey's kisses or Lifesavers or women's Masengill douchebags because their favorite couple isn't getting enough airtime. Yawn.

When GL dies, it won't be because of Tammy/Jonathan outcry. Remember the backlash when Michelle/Danny were fired? Nada happened afterward.

Uh...Tell me, was I the only one who cheered when Danny and Michelle were given the hook? I had wanted them gone for YEARS that it was kind of bittersweet when I heard the news because Kreizman would still be writing. Same thing with Jammy. Buh-Bye!

I've always thought that Trudy was a treaure trove for the revitalization of the Bauer clan. There's a potential for a whole other side of the Bauer clan. And also, we would have a matriarchal figure on the show again that we haven't had since Mary Stuart died.

You were not alone, my friend :) That was the perfect example of a small but vocal fanbase keeping a couple on a show for far too long. The majority of GL fans didn't care about Manny or just wanted them gone altogether. And thanks to those rabid Manny fans, Laura Wright has a lovely voodoo doll of herself to keep as a fine token of their appreciation

LMFAO!

We will never let those nuts live that down. Of course, Laura Wright had some nutty fans too, the ones who tried to stop an on-air PSA about organ donation when Richard was killed....

NO Trudy never got much of a story. She was played the longest I believe by Helen Wagner (just going by memory there). She did marry Jeff Palmer (who I think was a farmer). She and Meta fought over a doctor I think at one time, but other than that it was about it.

I would love for them to bring Trudy back. I don't think any of her children were ever discussed so it would be a good way to tie in to history.

I liked Jammy too, but I think it was a brave choice to kill off Tammy. The aftermath is huge and there is some great oportunity for powerful storyline. If Jammy just rode off into the sunset they would be gone and forgotten. Now it will be an out and out war between the Spalding and the Lewis families, and look at the way they tied the Coopers in with Daisy being in the car that killed Tammy. I'm sorry you're upset, but I think you are going to miss out on some good stuff.

Anyway, I loved, loved the special eppy, and I want more. It just reminded me of what a fabulous actor BE is. In fact, all of the cast did an amazing job.

JaneB - I completely agree. It feels like there's direction once again to this show and if Jammy are the ones to start it off in the right track, I'm cool with that. They're definitely going to be remembered for this exit story.

Now, if TPTB treat the aftermath of Tammy's death like they did Jennifer's on ATWT, then I'll be pissed.

The episode is up on CBS:Intertube.

Did any notice that the office was Kurt McKinney when Meta was arrested.

And that the camera man during the Papa/Bill/Bert scene was the man who played Hawk!!!

Nice suttle touches.

Who was the reported that "Mallet" talked too in the middle or last half of the show?
