What are we going to do to save Passions?

I'm not sure how I feel about this rumor.

On the one hand, I'd LOVE to see "Passions" live on. After all, Lindsay Korman Hartley is just BEGGING TO revive the genre by being the next Susan Lucci, losing the Daytime Emmy for several years that people gather around the set just to watch her lose it again! (Although I'd be pullin' for ya, girlfriend!) Plus, my dream since "Passions" premiere was to see Theresa at 50 years old. Oh, yes. THE matriarch. :)

On the OTHER hand I was looking forward to nonstop shockers and revelations leading up to the show's finale before its low-budget, less fulfilling Internet spin-off starring Jessica, Spike and a few others.

Certainly I'm hoping for the renewal; I'm just saying.

I know exactly how you feel with your two point of views. I feel the same way, but I think that for the finale on NBC (if it DOES go to Fox), then many things WILL be wrapped up.

Playing devil's advocate

Why would Fox be trying to get into the soap opera business when other networks are trying to get rid of soaps because of lower viewership and revenues?

Maybe becuase Fox is actually SMART and realizes the other nets just aren't trying?

Edit: They may have also read [!@#$%^&*]'s comments about the genre and saw the passion and with that, "they saw the light."

I'm hoping that ABC and CBS also saw the light. lol

FOX would be the perfect network for [s.W.S.N.B.N.] to start a new soap.

Lord knows Fox isn't afraid to take a risk!

LOL

Next question, why would NBC want the daytime competition?

My only fear is, "Could 'PASSIONS' BE a Fox soap?"

Perhaps, as a soap viewer for so long, we've been trained and conditioned to believe certain things: that the ABC soaps are about social issues, the average to ugly ones are on CBS and the hot but mostly untalented ones are on NBC. Similarly, ABC's realistic, CBS is pretty realistic and classy and NBC is supernatural, campy fluff. Certainly, these are just stereotypes and I disagree with some of them, well, aspects of them.

Anyway, "Passions" is SO NBC. It's like you can't even imagine it on another network. For some reason, it just IS NBC. I just can't see it on Fox. "PASSIONS, on Fox Daytime!!"

Um, wha?

hmm...

That sounded...weird.

But the question remains, Rick, could "Passions" ever BE a Fox soap? Or a Fox show? It's like trying to imagine "All My Children" on CBS or NBC. It can't be done. That's my fear.

It would be a good fit but I don't see it happening. I would be happy if it did and, if it did happen, I would hope a new HW was a part of the deal.

I could see PASSIONS on Fox, but NBC would never sell to them (or any other non-cable network).

Old Passions? No

Passions - Summer 2006 until now? Yes

PSNS has become very sexual and violent, which is how I think gels with FOX.

I agree.

When I think of "Passions" and Fox, for some reason I think of '99, good ol' days "Passions." And that is definitely NOT a Fox show. But when you think of it now, sex, sex, sex, rape, rape, rape, power, power, power, sibling rivalry==yeah. It'd work.
