O...M...G!

Y'all remember Phil Stacey? The one I totally ragged on earlier in this thread, before he was voted off? I know him! LoL He's, like, the brother of my first cousin's husband, or something.

I didn't even realize it! I knew he looked familiar, but never connected it until just now on the phone with my uncle and he talked about how they'd all been voting for Phil like crazy. I'm like, "Why?" and that's when he reminded me who he is, LoL.

We totally had a conversation at my cousin's wedding reception! Me and my mom sat at a table with him and we talked about random sh!t for several hours. I'll have to call my mom in the morning to let her know. She thought Phil looked familiar too, but neither of us could figure out why. Mystery solved!

It's a small ass world.

You know, it's funny. Thinking about it now, all the signs were there during the results show.

Simon looked sick all night and Ryan had asked him if he was ok or something. He thought Simon was bored but he said he was "cold." Then, Ryan's little slip of the tongue and Melinda seemed different tonight. Almost without worry and she handled it a little too composed. Yes, she is classy but she didn't even look shocked. Randy and Paula didn't either. Randy usually goes off about how an elimination is wrong and all and he didn't even do that. No one did. I think everyone but Blake and Jordin knew. Blake, who did act cocky in that hometown video, acted like it was him going and he did seem shocked he wasn't. Jordin seemed shocked too. It was weird.

It's not that I don't like Blake. I do but he should never get this far. At some point, this becomes about the vocals and not gimmicks. Usually that happens around the top 5. That is when my toleration goes out the windown. It's sad but I know I will be voting heavily for Jordin next week. I am curious to see what the winning song is too.

Oh, and back to Elliot, he did sound great tonight. I will be buying his album.

Taylor is and always will be a joke. Katherine at least has vocals. I may not like her personally anymore but she can sing. Chris is the brightest from last year though. How that man got voted out I will never know. Same goes for Tamyra, LaToya, Jennifer Hudson, and now our beloved Melinda. In some cases, they were better off but Tamyra and LaToya have disappeared from the face of the earth. The last time I saw LaToya was on the AI finale for season 4 when she seemed like she was drunk.

Does anyone know what is going on with Vonzell by any chance?

Other boards are saying that Jordin's being pimped by the show, and that she was pimped the last two nights.

When?

When Simon told her that all three of her songs sucked, and the other two received rave reviews for mediocre performances? That's what they call 'pimping?' Far from it! Jordin was judged harshly, especially by Simon.

There are also complaints that they're going to hand Jordin the title of 'American Idol' on a silver platter next week by letting her go against Blake with a power ballad, which Blake will fall short on. Okay... pretty much all of those final songs are ballads, and it's been that way every season. How is it suddenly tailor-made for Jordin, just because she's actually talented enough to hit the notes on a power ballad and Blake isn't? If he can't sing it, he shouldn't win, end of story. Why make excuses? Should they let Jordin and Blake perform a really simple, easy song just so that Blake can compete a little easier? The boy needs to step it up! Enough pandering to him.

I'm pretty sad Melinda was eliminated but I wasn't surprised. I knew it was coming. I knew Melinda and Jordin would cancel each other out as Blake has an entirely different fan base.

Sigh.

But I hope this means Jordin will win. it's like it's not even a real competition. We all know Jordin will blow Blake out of the water next week ... I wanted a REAL competition in the end.

Yeah, but does that really matter? Blake doesn't have to sing well, as long as he's making panties wet all across America. That's why they vote for him, end of story. Vocals mean nothing. So long as he can make a girl's inner thighs moist like a Hostess Cupcake, that's what gotten him this far, and that's what will probably win him the competition in the end.

I sort of hope that he DOES win, though. That way, he'll be stuck having to release some cheesy AI produced album, while Jordin has the freedom to be selective and artistically creative with the label of her own choosing. :)

Count me in with those who are extremely pissed that Melinda was eliminated!! She was without a doubt the best and most consistent singer throughout this season. That fact that she was eliminated for Beat Box Blake pisses me off to no end. If I was having any doubts about this show being fixed, last night confirmed it. I have absolutely no interest in the final now, and will definitely take it off my DVR. Hopefully this will free Melinda from any contractual obligations to AI's recording labels.

That is so silly, and a little biased IMO. The show has been pimping Melinda from DAY ONE. Tuesday night, it was all about Melinda, like you said Kenny, they didn't even give Jordin a prop up by saying she belongs in the final or can take this one away, it was all about Melinda.

I thought Melinda was good, awesome, but way too professional for the competition. She was always a step up b/c she had that experience. I'm glad she is not taking this thing. I think Jordin deserves it much more and should win it. Right now it is kind of unpredictable since I didn't think Blake would be in the top 2. I think Blake is talented and I definitely would buy his album (or download his songs LOL), but Jordin deserves the title.

Ruben has a gospel album out, and Fantasia has two singles out.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, Melinda can take that golly-gee-whiz goody two-shoes crap off my screen.

I am absolutely shocked that Melinda went home. She was the only one I expected as a shoe-in to the finals.

Personally, I think Jordin and Blake are young and both perfect to win a title "American Idol". This isn't all a singing competition. You have to have the entire package that could appeal to Americans. As you see, Maroon 5 sucked live and Blake is 100% a better singer on the stage than MY man....lol...but Maroon 5 has the entire package. That is what the show is about.

I don't mind who wins next week - they are both Idol types to me.

That's weird Kenny. Because we actually thought they were sabotaging Jordin. The producers gave her "She works hard for the money." Ummm, that is pretty much the worst song she could have gotten. You do not need vocal talent to sing that song. And Simon didn't even like the song arrangement of his choice. I thought it had the makings to send Jordin home, which is why I voted for her 40 times.

    • I believe Cecile was intentionally used for comedic elements maybe twice. I mean, start with her being royalty from where? Tanquir!!! LOL From the first moment it's a gag, isn't it? And, her kidnapping Cass? I mean does a serious character do that? Well, literally, if you go another way & it's horror, sure. And, what you describe, a food fight, yeah, it's going to be played for laughs.
    • Y&R 1976 Pt 2 Bill is overjoyed when Jill arrives home with grandson. But Kay is furious and checks into legal action, only to find that there are no grounds (the check was returned). Brock Reynolds, Kay’s son from her first marriage, convinces her she can be the baby’s godmother and provide for him out of love.  But just as she’s starting arrangements to do this a legal petition arrives stating that Phillip Chancellor Foster is a rightful heir to and is now claiming his share of Phillip Chancellor’s estate. Jill has to do this, as the Foster family’s finances are now more precarious than ever. In fact, Liz, unable to get her factory job back, has secretly started working for Kay as her housekeeper. Jill explains to Kay that she has to do this for her baby’s sake but will drop the suit immediately if Kay puts it in writing that she will provide for them. Kay, however, retorts that Jill is the one who can’t be trusted—after all, she went back on her agreement to let Kay have the baby. Despite her attorney’s advice to work out an out-of-court agreement, Kay — insists on seeing this through. When Jill takes her little son to Phillip’s grave -on the Chancellor estate, Kay runs her off the property. In court, the geneticist testifies that Phillip could have been the baby’s father, but that Brock could have been, also. Jill then testifies that Phillip was the only man she was ever intimate with, and then only once; that Phillip decided on an immediate divorce from Kay and marriage to her, Jill, so that his baby could have his legal name. But Kay’s lawyer brings up the “dead-man statute,” which holds that conversations with a deceased person are not admissible as evidence because he can’t defend himself. When the  judge upholds this statute, Jill comes close to being held in contempt of court.  Brock takes the stand and substantiates Jill’s testimony that although he and Jill lived together for a time before her marriage to Phillip, they were never initimate. But the judge rules in favor of Kay; little Phillip’s claim is rejected. Jill emotionally tells the judge he has denied a child a decent life and a man  his dying wish.   Brad is told by Dr. Snapper Foster, his brother-in-law that his condition, nephritis of the optic nerve, is stable. The optic nerves are still swollen, but since his headaches have stopped he should continue his cortisone treatment. Brad is still firmly insistent that Leslie not be told.  From the moment they meet, Lance and Laurie charge the air around them with static. They find each other arrogant and egotistical, but when Lance needs a date for his trip to London, he calls Laurie, and she accepts. The pilot of Lance’s private plane cryptically suggests that Laurie turns his boss on because she seems turned off by him. This seems to hold true for Laurie, too. By the end of their London stay, Lance and Laurie have come to a better understanding of each other. Lance tries to tell her that, with talent of her own, she should not be jealous of Leslie. She tells him she has a book coming out, but it won’t be published under her own name. She explains further that she was an outgoing child and her parents didn’t understand that she needed as much attention as the introverted Leslie did. (Laurie has always felt she existed in Leslie’s shadow. Les is married to the man Laurie wanted, and is a successful concert artist, with the fame and recognition Laurie has tried so desperately to achieve. Laurie’s first book, a sexploitation novel, was a failure, and this new book is a novel based on Leslie’s nervous breakdown and recovery—something Leslie is trying to put behind her.) Gwen Sherman, now Sister Magdellen, will soon take her final vows, but still feels God holds her past against her, because nobody could possibly believe that a prostitute could be pure enough to become a nun. She finds her accidental meetings with Greg Foster (they were once in love) increasingly meaningful to her, and she begins to dream of Greg holding her in his arms. Finally, in torment and uncertainty, she tells the Reverend Mother she’s leaving the convent. But on the day of her release, Greg arrives with one of the convent orphans unconscious in his arms. The boy had fallen from a fence outside. When the  boy, Ramon, who had not spoken a word since his arrival, comes to, asking for Sister Magdellen, Gwen sees this as a sign from God and accepts her vocation. She will take her final vows and then enter nurses’ training.  Stay tuned...
    • I was just about to compose a post where I mention this period AW reminds me of JFP's  time on GL (1993-95) where it just reeked of cynicism and desperation. OR ATWT during Black and Stern. The common denominator is P&G. They allowed this stuff to go on.
    • I think the first 4-5 years have many strong spots, some beautiful writing, and I didn't find it that hard to watch, but one of the main issues with the show for me - and this just gets worse - is many of the characters we are told to root for I find extremely unlikeable.
    • I don't see the people who were brought into AW around 1986 as being that different from JFP, but I don't feel like going back and forth either.
    • Agree to disagree. I think they cared. I think at times fans underestimate both the creative types & the execs. Certainly there can be specific times & specific people when ego & hubris are huge issues. But, basically, and most of the time the people involved very much want things to work. I'm not saying you don't have your Brian Frons or even your JFPs & your Susan D. Lees. We know at the end Chris Goutman had lost his way.
    • Pure bull, those scenes were.ere! The whole Liam story is going to end in disaster, just like Brad's other stories.

    • Joey and Vanessa's scenes are boring. Get Vanessa away from him. Anita and Eva scene was great too! Lots of good scenes in today's episode.
