I'm so glad I'm spoiler-free. Phil's taking Claire out of the country? Jeez.

Great moments for Sami, but I'm ready for her storyline to move forward.

Per Phillip and Kate the ONLY reason that Phillip got custody of Claire was because Victor bribed the judge. I think all of your legal reasons were just tossed out of court!! Most of us knew this would happen, but it needed to be verbalized by the characters. Most of us knew that Phillip had NO rights to Claire at all. Phillip is planning to run off with Claire just like Shawn and Belle. So please don't post that Shawn and Belle are hurting Phillip.

I'm just waiting for the logical(?) <_< Shelle bashing and Phillip praising!!

Loved Malena and Sami, its about time there is a reason for her family to be proud of her.

Lucas finally standing up to his mother, well lets see how long this lasts.

Bout time Maggie sends Willow out the door. However, it sure was great the way Willow talked to Shawn (ack, can't believe I said that)

If I were Philip I would have shown Mimi the door and said don't let the door hit ya on the way out. He should be more angry at her, his mom and dad than anyone.

Damn JKJ looks so adorable with the White girls. but could someone take the bow out of the poor girls hair.

Beemer, how hot are you today loved him bent down outside of Chez Rouge.

I LMAO at Sami asking who that lady was disguised as Lucas's mom.

Kate, have you forgotten that you have a set of twins? When recalling all of your children that give you the power to go on with life (Billie, Austin, Lucas and Philip), you forgot to mention Rex and Cassie. Now, given the horrible mistake it was making them Roman and Kate's children, I would forget about them too.

Enjoying today's episode so far!!!!!!! I'm loving the Sami and Marlena stuff and how Sami is apologising for acting so bratty!

Kate and Lucas are good so far! Really love Kate.

And, um, Willow telling Shawn "All I want is a little affection." and then when he finally decides to kil her she just pulls away?! And, I loved Maggie's line to Willow "Bur I am your boss and you have to answer to me!" Go Maggie!

This episode was F--in awesome! Phillip/Mimi scenes were chilling. It's nice to have a day off from Nick and Abby.

Shawn and Willow and Maggie scenes were great. They'd be even more wicked if the cliffhanger didn't have ice falling or whatever. Great episode. I'm glad we're seeing a different side of Shawn besides the angry man.

Awesome show today. LOVE ME SOME MAGGIE! Philip is a brat but I did enjoy his telling Mimi that she can't speak the truth unless she is backed into a corner.

You know what. Hogan took the unimaginative and lazy way out by "bribing the judge". Salem must be loaded with crooked legal system employees and elected officials. Shame, shame, Hogan. You didn't need to bribe a judge just to make Victor look bad. Just doing what he is doing makes him look bad without involving the legal system.....bah to you (and hire a technical advisor).

About today's show.

I totally, absolutely loved Marlena today. Her performance was flawless and beautiful, serene and loving. I've never seen her look at Sami with love and devotion like today and that was before Sami made her heartfelt talk to John. What a difficult job for her and it made me cry, too.

Lucas was also remarkable in telling his mother in a decent, respectful way, his honest and truthful feelings. I love Lucas. Kate believed him as she looked very pale as she left the room

Bree, I love Willow....not for her being an uplifting, straightforward good person, but for her being so completely who she is. What a kook and fun person. I'm looking forward to seeing exactly how she fits into all this. I may learn not to like how she turns out, but for now she is great fun to watch. Today was no exception. I laughed out loud when she laughed in Shawn's face showing him what a push-over he is. She also lied about the $10,000 (at least that in her bra). I hope that taught Shawn a lesson he dearly needed to learn.

Who would have thought Mimi would go to Philip's house and tell him what he is doing is wrong? She did the worst and I don't remember him going to her and telling her how wrong she was. It was plot driven. Hogan really needs to learn ways around that. It made Mimi look Cruella DeVille-ish. Anyway was Claire saying Meme Meme Meme around her? I couldn't tell if she was calling Mimi because Philip was calling her Meems.

Why would dumba$$ Willow care so much about her waitressing job? She just got paid big bucks to be a lying ho-bag in court! I guess she already spent that money on shiny lip gloss. Good for Maggie for tossing her out on her pathetic behind. Wouldn't it be a riot if she turned up at Max's garage asking for a job? It's where all the young people hang out now, so why not? Ex-hookers know a lot about lube. :lol:

Agreed, I think Blake became a woman who learned from her mistakes and grew up. I too wanted them to be the core couple after the Tori thing, as a matter of fact, around Wheeler after Simon left I wanted them to move into the Bauer house..( I would have Blake say that this is the closet thing she knew as a home )SORAS the kids, and bring Sam back..Dinah would have a very contentious relationship with her, as she would be jealous of Ross and Sam's relationship, and Blake and Dinah would have that tension (ya, know cause she killed his brother) it would be a core family that had some fissures leading to good drama. But now, Wheeler and company though the Coopers should be the core.

Agree that great minds can think alike :)
In terms of Derek, I see the show doing one of two things based on the most recent episodes that featured him.
1) They do the gradual fade-out of the character until he stops appearing and is occasionally mentioned by Jacob (i.e. still living and existing in town, just not being seen). We saw some evidence with him having a group of co workers he's friends with, plus a female co worker interested in him... so possibly we see him regain his walking and go back to his life with the Fire crew and eventually we stop seeing them on air.
2) His mentioning to Jacob that he hopes to win Ashley back signals that perhaps the dark side we saw glimpses of has been hidden and will rear itself if she appears to be moving on with a new guy.
In terms of Ashley, the show seems committed to keeping her character on the show especially since she was shown in the Thanksgiving episode having a quiet day with Jan and Mona as they discuss Black Friday shopping, food, and other day to day matters... so I think delving into her backstory in terms of who her father is would be a good place for the show to go while keeping her as a good friend to Naomi, Shanice, and a good nurse during medical stories.
Perhaps one of the children of the handsome new doctor could be her love interest down the line.

Re: 1978. I'm glad the unedited version of the episode complete with commercials is available. The one that has been posted several years ago had several segments missing. I like Barbara's long hair here. Dr. Steven Farrell didn't last very long I take it since she is re-connecting with Tom (Tom Tammi) by 1979. The actor playing Steven (Phil Peters) was the real-life husband of Lenore Kasdorf (Rita GL).

Oh, how I wish we'd gotten to see Ross deal with his teenage sons. I loved his relationships with Phillip and Sam, but he really deserved to be seen with his own kids (other than the horror that became Dinah). The boys simply disappeared off canvas after either the Nursery Stalker or the affair with Tori.

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.
