Attention ALL "Passions" and soap fans, you are cordially invited to join the newly formed "We're Not Going to Take It: Save 'PASSIONS' Brigade." Show NBC how displeased you are with the network's consideration to cancel the critically acclaimed daytime drama "Passions" to replace it with a fourth hour of the already bloated "Today" show. Feel free to use the official "We're Not Going to Take It" avatar, which proudly proclaims "Peacocks SUCK!" and the organization's official banner, "Boycott the Today show." Use these materials as your signature banner and avatar for all soap opera message boards and mainstream message boards that you frequent. Spread the word, and show NBC that we're NOT going to take it!

Thanks for your support of "Passions" and the daytime genre,

Joint Strike Fighter, founder, "We're Not Going to Take It: Save 'PASSIONS' Brigade."

gosh. anyone remember the AW campaigns? My fav was the Campaign to Save Another World...CSAW. Didn't they also have an Angels group! But yeah, its interesting since many fans picketed outside the Today show 8 years ago to save AW from PSNS. And now, The Today Show is doing in PSNS.

If "Passions" is canceled, I'm going to pray a rosary every day that the fourth hour of "Today" is an instant flop and the network NEVER finds an adequate replacement for that hour. No matter what they try, EVERYTHING will fail to get anything above a .7 rating. AND THEN they'll see the error of their ways and WISH they had "Passions'" 1.7 and incredible demos.

WITH GOD on my side, NBC, you stand only to LOSE, jerks!!!

Thanks for the luck.

And Mr. Brightside, NBC is just RIDICULOUS to think this UNPRECENTED fourth hour of the "Today" show will be successful. Why risk it? Why lose a sure thing (the audience of "Passions" -- which is a devoted one at that) for a RISK that will tick off two million viewers? NOT adding the fourth hour of "Today" will annoy virtually. NOBODY will care. But canceling Passions -- the sure thing -- WILL, WITH NO DOUBTS, tick off all its fans.

It's a BAD business decision.

Look at me. We're still in "likely rumor" stage and I'm already anti-NBC!!!!

"Passions" fans WILL NOT take this lying down.

Don't underestimate us, NBC.

We mean BUSINESS.

Unlike YOU, with your faulty business proposals that concern the "Today" show.

You are CLUELESS, NBC.

I haven't watched Passions in a good two years, but...if watching means saving it, then I'm down. :) Today is terrible, and as a college student who fits in where Passions is, let me just say, that on 3 of the 5 days during the week, I'm rolling home just as Passions starts here (2pm), so it's perfect timing. There is no way in friggin hell, that I'm going to get up when I don't have to watch more Today of all things. Nope. I'd rather sleep.

    • This, plus they nixed their overnight set crew during the COVID era and never brought them back.

    • I did some research because I had a similar question. (also, I don't want to poop on your joke which was amusing, but it sent me down a rabbit hole) A Reddit user who works at TeleVision City (where Y&R is filmed) estimated it takes 45 minutes to set up or reconstruct an already built set.  However, according to union rules, it takes at least seven crew members (not counting lighting and sound installation).  As always, the real cost is the labor, not the task.   Y&R uses robotic cameras, so there is only a skeleton crew on set.  Most of their crew budget goes to production assistants, who cannot move sets.  So, they would need to hire a crew every time they wanted to put up or take down a set (for two days) as well as a lighting and sound design installation.  Which is obviously very different from how production worked when money was more freely spent (and good for the unions for keeping the workplace safe). So, filming a single day in Lauren and Michael's living room could cost as much as they spend on two actors salaries for an entire year.
    • I knew Giovanni Mazza was talented but damn that kid is a star in the making.
    • The Nurses' Ball has always been cringey, fast forward material for me, but especially during the Frank era. The musical numbers and audience reactions are unwatchable.  So many of the conflicts on this show feel phony and manufactured. Probably no better instance is the Gio - Dante crap. Gio's whole story is inorganic, plot driven, no stakes, fake conflict; giving people lame drama just to give them drama, a prime example of GH under Frank.
    • What is the reason why soaps can’t use whatever sets they want? How exactly does it cost money..? I’m sure they still have Michael and Lauren’s house, why can’t they just put it up and shoot it when needed lol
    • I'm binging last week and I still find it so odd how different the show feels. Before I felt like each episode felt so long but the show is gliding by now. I'm on Thursday and it's crazy how real the characters feel. It doesn't feel like Days of Our Lives because I'm so used to everything being slapstick. It's definitely nice seeing layers to the characters now. I'm beginning to feel really confident about the coming months when the new headwriters can introduce their own stories.
    • And, Dani's focus, whoa, when she deigns to really pay attention, her focus is laser sharp. And, Chelsea is a natural attention seeking target for Dani. She is so much more mother than I realized before.

    • I did enjoy the Dani/Chelsea scene! It’s nice to see Dani show a little more nuance, and I agree I do buy her and Chelsea as mother/daugher.
