Remember that Brian Frons loves Brown/Esensten and when they joined OLTL as script editors, they also were story consultants to help out Higs when she she first joined.

Most script editors do not play a big role in the direction of the stories. The main purpose of the script editor, actually, is to take the load off the headwriter(s), and supervise the writing and completition of the dialogue. Most HWs are too busy plotting out their stories and meeting with their breakdown writers to actually study and edit completed scripts extensively, and so the script editor becomes the trusted authority to do so.

I highly doubt they had a big impact on the stories of Days. Since when has Hogan been somebody who would toss control to subordinate writers? Plus, he has a co-HW (Meg Kelly), so there's even less reason for the script editors to get involved.

One thing to realize about Hogan Sheffer (and I say this as a devout watcher of ATWT), he was extremely hit and miss. When he was good, he was good (hence all the Emmys, but Emmys mean nothing anyway), but when he was bad, he was bad. He liked to ignore veterans. He liked to focus on small groups of characters at a time. He liked schlocky, sloppy, sensational stories. He handled serious social issues poorly. Sound familar? From 2004 onward ATWT was just one big mess. There wasn't even a whole lot of "hit" there. And remember, it all caught up with him because he was fired.

He has managed to coast on his reputation for his first year (00-01) at ATWT, but he spent most of the year wrapping up Leah Laiman's storylines and giving us all sensational payoffs. When he began building his own storylines, he started to crumble (and Carolyn Culliton being demoted and eventually leaving didn't help matters).

Re: Jeanne Marie Ford...She's been missing from the US credits for a week or so. Esensten & Brown were still listed as of today's US episode.

A week or so? Really?

Do you have the exact date, Jason?

Y&RWorldTurner, could you please write a list of GH writers from 90–93 period you liked especially? You mentioned them, I think, in one of the threads at DTS.

^I wrote a list of the Emmy winning team from GL in 93, but I never wrote a list for GH. I'm pretty sure I have a list of the writers from GH, during the Labine era. If you want, I can post both lists.

Unless you're referring to the OLTL thread in the other forum, where I suggested Karen Harris and Michele Van Jean as co-head writers for the show.

Yes, I probably confused the two (that happens often with these acronyms in my case), but I'm pretty sure you mentioned the period 1990-1993. Please do write them if you have the time. :)

Found the post:

In fact, if you look at GL's writing team from 90-93, it's filled with many lauded and outstanding soap writers, who've all earned respect and recognition in some form.

Is Mark Christopher from OLTL Dena's husband. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that, but not certain, though. I guess he will be leaving with her, right?
