I don't know why people are getting worked up. It's right to question if the baby looks Asian. It's not something mean. It's just that it was a common (mis)conception amongst people that Tom was sterile, and now suddenly he and his fiancee had a baby.

I think what's really offensive is when magazines like the National Enquirer say that the reason why the baby wasn't being photographed was b/c she's disfigured. That's just rude.

If the baby is Asian, who cares? The hair makes me think that she might be Asian, but who knows...it could be just really dark brown. It's just stupid that Tom Cruise would go to such extreme measures to prove his masculinity. But then again, it might not even be true.

But the eyes might be a different thing. I looked kind of Asian when I was a baby...that's common for some babies.

I've just read through the thread and I'm wondering why the impression is being given that we must censor ourselves on the altar of political correctness? Mr. Cruise himself has not abided by any such edicts. It's the nd of the world if some of us draw our own conclusions without following the crowd blindly.

I stand by my assertions that Suri looks Asian, was adopted and her shielding and reveal were a public realtions coo on the part of a man who has courted publicity at evert turn of his dimming career. He invited this controversy into his private affairs by making a public spectacle of himself with Katie's compliance.

Furthermore, it's not a legitimate stretch to questio the true lienage of this child given the shadiness of the parents involved. Their every move was documented to further enruches his celebrity and coffers but suddenly Mr. Top Gun is shooting blanks when it comes to showing off his babygirl? Please. The Emperor has no clothes.

If this is their kid, Michael Jackson furthered his too.

Now this is only my opinion. It hsould be respected as such and not taken as a law that needs to be stricken from the record.

If Nicole Kidman has a child with Keith Urban, that to me signals Tom cant have kids. I don't know what to believe but Tom Cruise has never been camera shy and certainly wasnt or isnt when his movies are about to debut. I am with those that say the kid is adopted. I dont think the kid looks Asian, I just think it was adopted and Katie will be killed if she ever tells the truth(okay kidding on that last part).

These pictures have been photoshopped so many times, of course its going to look like one of them or they wouldnt have been printed people, Tom wouldnt have allowed it.

The first pictures of Suri appeared in Vanity Fair magazine today, and on the CBS Evening News last night, and our initial analysis of the long-awaited pictures has led us, and more than a few casual and professional observers, to the same conclusion -- that somewhere in the gene pool of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, some Asian influence has crept in. (As Jossip cheekily posits, "In six years, Vanity Fair will have the story about why Suri has Lucy Liu's eyes." And Gawker posted an Asiatic-looking parody shot of the baby that subsequently spread around the Internet and prompted a disclaimer.)

The delicate, almond-shaped eyes, the milky, pale-ish skin tone, the striking mane of dark, dark hair -- these are the characteristics that have pointed us down this line of inquiry. (It should be noted that, yes, babies tend to look fairly like one another at this early stage, but still.) As far as we can determine, there isn't any Asian blood in either Tom or Katie's family, but that doesn't mean some Far Eastern seed hasn't seeped in somewhere along the way.

Of course, if her parents were really Asian at all, they'd probably have taken into consideration that Suri means "pickpocket" in Japanese and something very close to "renovation" in Korean. That wouldn't be such an auspicious beginning.

Damn, WorldTurns, thanks for posting that! I hadn't gone to Perez Hilton's site today. He is REALLY on top of these things, isn't he? How does it do it? I mean, leaking the Lance/Reichen relationship, exposing Beyonce and her allegedly copycatting ways and now the Suri photo shoot expose! That guy is despicable but INCREDIBLE at his job. CERTAINLY he's not working alone. He just HAS to have a huge research department for these things. I have to believe that.

As for Suri, I know I keep saying this but it's worth an echo: we can't really judge THESE pictures. Or any pictures, for that matter. They're Photoshopped. And I know most of the people in this thread probably keep up with celebrity gossip, and know that they took SEVERAL days Photoshopping Suri. How strange is THAT?

THANK YOU!!

Bravo!

It's like I tried to say before: how can we truly judge what is Photoshopped, which instantly makes something fake ?

It can't be Chris Klein's kid. Chris was already out of the picture around the time of Suri's conception. I think it's just ridiculous that people think Chris might be Suri's real father.

I feel sorry for Katie about how she was all sad that people thought that she wasn't really pregnant or that Suri's not hers.

We can't prove anything unless someone admits it. It happens all the time with pictures now - it's just the way it is now with today's technology.

I think the baby looks adorable...as for her looking Asian...eh plenty of babies look like different ethnic groups when their born...that's no biggie.

I personally think she looks like Kate and Joshua Jackson...but that's just me. ;)

And I am joking about the JJ part...kinda. ;)

Oh, I do, too. It's obvious that Suri is an adopted Asian baby. It's the eyes, the skin, the hair -- and not just the hair color but its texture.

And Cheyenne, I know you were being sarcastic about the pose on the Vanity Fair Cover (regarding Tom looking controlling), but the simple fact is that photographers AND their subjects know the power of a still image. Hell, everyone in the industry knows the messages that images can communicate -- especially after the great interpretations that have been gleaned from artfully posed photo shoots for "The Sopranos." So to me, and this is just me, by the way, I don't get "controlling" from the image. Actually, when I saw it for the first time I IMMEDIATELY thought, "Damn, Tom has Katie looking down in the direction of his penis, but Suri is obstructioning the view. It's like Tom is looking down not at Suri, but his penis, which he and Katie are proud of for allegedly helping to create Suri." The suggestive pose is a message of verility, fertility and pride. I don't doubt that Tom loves Suri (regardless of her parentage), but that's the message that photo communicates to me. By having all eyes point in the direction of his groin, it brings home the message that Suri is living proof of his ability to procreate.
