What are you talking about? Fickett originally left so she could spend more time with her family and to take care of her husband. The second time she left was because she was tired of the pace it took to tape soaps. There were strong rumors just last year that she was interested in returning to the show.

BTW, the last time Mary Fickett made an appearance as Ruth was in 2001. It was at JR's drug hearing.

Exactly All My Shadows. It would be wonderful to have Mary Fickett back. With Burton Armus rumored to be taking over, he's said to want more of a focus on the families of AMC so it would make a lot of sense to have the Martin matriarch back full-time (Lee Meriwether is on recurring status but hasn't been seen in months.) I think Ruth has greatly been missing in this Josh reveal and Jeff being back in Pine Valley.

I don't think the Alzheimer's stuff is true at all, this is the first I've heard of it.
