Robbed :(:(

I'm hearing ABC was purposely shut out because of comments that McPherson made about ABC shut out. I don't think Keiffer's(sp?) is anything close to emmy bait, and heard he submitted sub-par tapes. It was a pity win for KS and 24.

I love Alfre Woodward but it was ridiculous seeing her up there in that category.:blink:

The emmys need a MAJOR overhaul because there are FAR more deserving actors that are NOT even nominated. Such as Tracey Ellis Ross and Lauren Graham <_<

I am happy for Mariska, 24, Keifer, and Alan Alda. Congrats to The Office too and I loved the Spelling tribute. Those shots of his wife and Randy sitting in the audience were sad :( . Loved seeing the angels together again.

I am sad about Kevin James, Martin and Charlie Sheen, Two and a Half Men, Jane Kasmareck, and The West Wing. I thought for sure The West Wing, Six Feet Under, and Will and Grace would do well tonight.

Shocked by Julia Louis Dreyfuss. I don't think that show is good at all. Not sad about Grey's-ok show but nothing special IMO. I do agree that ABC being shut out was because of Macpherson.

Conan was hilarious. Loved the opening with him running through several of the shows and I also loved the whole Newheart gimmick. Conan's NBC sucks song was hilarious  . Corbert and Stewert were hilarious too.

Weird show-kinda boring at times. Both systems (daytime/primetime) need overhauls IMO. It felt almost rushes at times and I would like to see more clips then we got. Oh well-it was ok. 24 winning made me very happy and that ER promo NBC showed made me happy too. Man that promo was intense :D

The opening was definitely one of the best ever. Lost to The Office to 24 to House to South Park (trapped in a closet with Tom Cruise! LMAO) to Dateline's Predator thing. LMAO!!!

The Bob Newhart skit was funny too.

Great show. I was happy with it. :)

The Emmys are second only to the Oscars for me, so I was thrilled when things went off so well. The Bob Newhart thing was hilarious. The intro was great too. The Aaron Spelling tribute was quite moving, and it was appropriately salacious with the original Angels coming together and Candy and Tori sitting in different places. It was so appropos.

Seeing Dick Clark was a heart breaker, though. He went from the guy that everyone joked about being eternally young to aging like crazy. That stroke really did a number on him. It almost brought me to tears!

It was also tough to see Steve Carrell not win. I thought he was going to walk away with it. The Office winning was some consolation, but I think Steve got robbed.

Yeah the Dick Clark tribute was sad too.

He always looked so young and that stroke really aged him. I applaud the guy for everything he does and for being on stage. It was just so shocking to see him like that.

I was also shocked by all those booing Simon-I mean I know people hate him but there were quite a bit of boos there-what gives?

    • Thanks for the tip. I'm not even there viewing-wise yet and as I told my co-worker who grew up on DAYS today, I'm just not ready. So I know I'll be a mess when I get to the episode.    Love all of this.
    • People really forget the show started at the end of Feb.

    • Yeah I just took it as the life Marlena truly wanted and needed started with John that day.  She lived a life before with loves and happiness, but found her soul mate in John.  Besides, I don't expect Marlena to get into semantics of her previous loves with her husband that clearly has little time left. And, yes, @j swift in Salem you just say Happy Anniversary whenever you multi time married friends decide what day they want to celebrate it lol.
    • May 21, 1990 was CBS Monday comedy finale night. Major Dad season 1 finale, Newhart series finale, Murphy Brown season 2 finale, Designing Women season 4 finale. The comedies that were in the 1989/90 Top 10 had their season finales earlier. April 23-29, 1990: Empty Nest April 30-May 6, 1990: The Cosby Show, A Different World, Cheers, The Golden Girls May 7-13, 1990: Roseanne May 14-20, 1990: The Wonder Years
    • I understood it very differently as well. I wouldn't have piled on, but @janea4old and I were clearly composing our posts at the same time (great minds think alike, and fools seldom differ). To me, she was saying that their love was an awakening.  Obviously, she loved Roman and their twins, as well as Don.  But, John revealed something to her that she had never seen before.  I actually think it is a lovely, and very optimistic, idea to think that one's third marriage could be special because you met each other at a specific time in your life. Not to be crude about the departed, but John was trained by the best, and he rocked her world.  Think about it, before Kristin met him, she was just a mild-mannered social worker.  And< I doubt Roman and Kate are doing whatever Doc and John did with those strawberries and cream.  If we translate soap dialogue into reality, that is probably what Marlena meant. Of course, John was only her third husband if you don't count Eugene and

(aka the husband nobody mourned).  If you choose that definition, John was also her 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th husband.  However, I believe it was @carolineg who reminded us that in polite society, friends just say Happy Anniversary, and don't mention the years in between.

    • disagree on all counts To me it's obvious that what Marlena meant was that she was already a complete person within herself before meeting John; but after meeting John her life blossomed to a new level she hadn't known before. I don't think she was bound to John as back and forth caretakers. I think she and John were true equals. Roman loved Marlena in his own way but he was somewhat patronizing at times.
    • I agree that she looks good.  I wasn't slamming her, her age or her looks in my last post.  I was just commenting on the fact that her wardrobe and hair gave me Susan Sullivan/"Dharma & Greg" vibes, lol.
