I watched tonight's premiere show and love it already. The pace is fast, meaningful and the characters are a complex group. I'm enthralled.

Why did she vanish twelve years ago and what are her parents covering up?

I loved the ending with the guy in the bar recognizing her as the girl he wanted to marry 12 years ago.

Was anyone else ready for a two-hour opening? I sure wanted more.

The hour just flew by! I keep seeing Brian Kinny though from QAF lol. The actor is good in the role, but it's just so read seeing him in a different role after he played BK for so many years. I have mixed feelings about the show, Iwasn't really paying attention to it but I'll give it another shot.

World Turns, FOX will encore the premiere of Vanished tonight at 9PM. Hope you get to see it.

This new show is very fast-paced and there is a lot twists. I love it already!

I'm glad this is taking the spot for 24 until January. It's a good fit.

And before it aired, FOX was airing a preview of the show, and TV Guide said, "Jack Bauer would be proud." :lol: Yes he would, LOL.

I think I might just TiVo Big Brother tonight since it's on at a special time, 9:00PM, which is of course when Vanished is repeated on FOX and watch Vanished elsewhere.

THere is absolutely nothing original about this show, including the title, but it works really well! I look at it as a remake of all those missing person stories we've seen before. LOVE the cast except the actress who plays the vanished woman, she sucks. Gale Harold and Ming-Na look like a good team and Rebecca Gayheart always rocks! BTW, is it just me or was her sex scene very racy for basic cable?

I think I'm gonna like this show.

I love that it's in Atlanta.

I love that she had another name.

I love the mystery already.

The ending of the first episode was a great cliffhanger.

I wonder what her past is and she's been kidnapped already? Great mysteries.

It's very fast-paced and I love it.

I like the double mystery of Sarah/Niki and liked the ending tonight. The reporter is tying it all together nicely and giving us some views different than the FBI ones. The characters are good. It was good to see the ex-wife in action, today and I'm wondering how she figures into this story.

Primetime stars - Their hits and misses...

The truth is as much as I am a fan of the chaos Suzanne brought to the show, I think Jean staying for another year would have been more successful than Delta staying for a season without Jean. But the one two punch was just deadly.
Unlike other shows that lost a major star but found new or continued life, Designing Women’s format was really curated with those four women, and Anthony later fit in beautifully. Bernice was fun but not the same weight. Much like Golden Girls- you take out one of the core and the balance is off. This wasn’t Cheers, where you had a larger supporting cast ready to be expanded in telling the jokes to help things settle down after Diane left. Same with the Cosby show and A Different World without Denise- others picked it up and ran with it. Mary Tyler Moore weathered the loss of her non work friends by centering more at the station. I also cannot imagine Living Single if one of the four ladies was gone, although Kyle being gone was also a huge blow.

I actually like Carly plotting revenge against Brennan. But I continue to dread Valentin being added to it more regularly. Her playing cat and mouse there is an evolved version of Carly. Normally she impulsively would have blown it all up by now. It’s still deeply stupid of her to play games with the head spy, but she can only grow so much.
Laura’s freaking out doesn’t bother me because she has always been prone to panic. And even when she had a calmer head through Frank Smith round one and the Ice Princess, her ordeal with the Cassadines took its toll. In those episodes in 1983 she plays Laura as haunted deeply by what she endured. It’s one of the reasons the Nikolas story worked in 1996. And really, the last time she was in the body finding business, Luke would have taken care of it for her.
Joss in bed, again, really makes the lack of sex and relationships being shown elsewhere even more glaring. Carly doesn’t count, it’s a scam.
And I get where Britt was coming from about letting Jason help her if he fully commits. But you are also speaking to a man that is a mob enforcer, has a child he is the sole parent of, and family obligations from his mother’s recent death. I know they want me to feel sympathy for her but it’s just another bratty example of her immature behavior.
I did think Sidwell killing Dalton in front of Britt was an excellent way to up the stakes for her though. I like that it’s not only Sonny, Laura, and Jason that know besides Sidwell and Poppy guy. She and Jason both know but can’t talk about it. That’s pretty classic soap angst with a twist, and it does work for me.

Wow - I loved the Cabot baby storyline. Then again, Cady McClain and Hunt Block are two of my favorite soap actors. Thought it was a fantastic storyline. Had me tuning in every day to find out what would happen next. I've said it before and I'll say it again, just what do people on this message board LIKE about As The World Turns. Because it seems like you all hate it - not just the Sheffer/Goutman era, but most of Doug Marland's era.
So again, what do you like about ATWT. Favorite moments. Storylines. Characters. Do you even have any? (Besides the quadruplets who were on for about 4 months.)

Dynasty Discussion Thread

So interesting to read everyone's thoughts. I enjoy the realism of Season 1 but Matthew and the always-sobbing-teenage-girl make it difficult for me to watch it often.
Other than the above mention Krystle twin plot, I enjoy all the rest of the show. It's final season written by David Paulsen, is one of its best so it goes out on a high, imo.
Am in a rewatch in Season 5 and it's perfection as far as I'm concerned. Ali McGraw, Rock Hudson, Diahann Carroll, the clothes, the hair, the caviar, Catherine Oxenberg and Michael Praed as the Charles and Diana of Denver/Moldavia. Alexis just sitting around flipping through a magazine drinking champagne. Pure Gold!! There's a reason this season was #1 and became a huge hit in Europe at the same time.
Looking forward to The Colbys. Charlton Heston, Emma Samms, Maxwell Caufield, Stephanie Beach, Ricardo Montalban, Babara Stanwyck, more clothes, more hair, more over-the-top drama! Plus, Dynasty gets Christopher Casanova and Kate O'Mara.
I watch this show over and over and over. When I finish the miniseries, I just start back again at the beginning. All hail the fabulousness that is Dynasty!!!!!!

Well, it could have been interesting drama, so of course they didn't touch it.
I would have given AM imposter syndrome..as if it wasn't Alan or Alex he had to impress, he had shadow of Phillip, not even a bio Spaulding, hovering all over him. Add to that his Bauer which was rarely mentioned, and he would have felt..less then his backstabbing family. When Alan was trying to steal the presidency from him during the Brent storyline, I wanted him to have a scene with Ed where he tells AM to fight for the role..."Your great grandfather was an immigrant, and he would have been so proud of you being in charge and all the good you can do to help the people who work for Spaulding and the community. He was the exact opposite of Brandon and that should be your role model." So we find out AM wants to change some things, running up against Alan and Alex, and Amanda actually taking his side..."Out with the old and in with the new, nothing personal Alex when I say...old."
