Attention Guiding Light Fans

To all Guiding Light fans:

Recently I've moved to New York City and was disappointed when I found out that GL comes on at 10 in the morning. I'm not a morning person what so ever. Back in Pittsburgh, GL comes on at its normal time of 3pm.

Now I get this really upsetting message that GL is going to move to 10am starting Sept.11 ! GL's ratings are already dropping and a lot of it has to do with the time. If you do not want to see GL sink into cancellation or want to get up early to watch it (I don't have TiVo and I don't like to tape) then write to your local CBS affiliate.

Go to Contact/Complaint/of your CBS affiliate website and tell them that GL should be put on at 3pm, not 10am!

I'm just one person who wrote one complaint but together, maybe we could save GL before it becomes too late.

Thank you.

Ummmm.......this isn't new news. GL has been coming on at 10 in the tri-state and NY area (in many markets) for a couple of years now.

Yeah I know but...if most CBS affiliates put it on at 3pm, I'm sure the ratings would go up.

Lol, we got into this debate a couple of months ago.

If Y&R came on at 10 in the morning, yeah the ratings would go a little low, but in the end they would re-establish their audience and it would become steady. It's about quality and your target audience. GL doesn't have their, in my opinion, key audience (which is the long time viewers) that should be their main priority.

It has been that way for years. In most of the country, GL comes on at 10 in the morning.

Don't you think that if GL was shown right after ATWT, that the ATWT fans would tune in to watch GL? I agree that any soap has a dedicated fan base but the 10am time slot is what's losing a lot of ratings for GL, IMO. It makes me not want to get up early to watch it and it angers me that my city's doing the same thing. Yet I still do.

I know the quality is up and down at this point and in 2004 was when DK/EW shinned but it's trying. Little by little the soap will hopefully grow back to what it used to be. Though I jumped on as a fan during the WesCon days and those were some pretty bad days.

Dr. Phil airs in the 3PM timeslot across the tri-state area and does very well in that timeslot. There is no way in hell CBS would jepordize that for GL. I believe Dr. Phil is second only to Oprah in terms of talk show ratings.

I wouldn't say "most" of the country...

They moved Dr. Phil for us either last year or the year b4......can't remember, but it now comes on at 5pm for us in the tri-state area. At 3pm, they now air Inside Edition and The Insider.

I think at this point changing the timeslot might lose viewers. The ratings certainly did go up when the decision was made to move up the day-behinders.

That was the thing that angered me a lot when the timeslot changed in 2002....they made it a day behind. I was glad they finally put it back on schedule...even if it took a year
