God, yes, letting directors have some time to actually direct actors, what a revolutionary concept & desperately needed. And, from a Twi/X post of MVJ's, a new profile pic of her. LOVE it & especially love the setting, foreground/background. I realize it's not as compelling as what she wrote where but it's fun. Besides I could be torturing you with pictures of her cat Bella. https://x.com/MicheleValJean/status/1875666791961391148

Thanks! I know Curlee was a HW then but I'd never caught who the day's SW was. What a day in soap history & what a line!! And, of course, we know what's coming. One tiny factoid that is fascinating to me is that Phelps did not have the guts to tell Ellen Parker to her face what they were about to do to her. Both Jill & Parker worked at the studio that morning but Jill waited until that afternoon & called Ellen at home, where she was getting ready to head to the theatre because she was in a play, & told her the bad news.

Speaking of Mo & Ellen Parker, someone posted on Twi/x that on 1-5-93 the scene where my favorite of ALL soap lines was said by Mo to Lillian, “You have reduced us to a ridiculous suburban joke and I will never forgive you for this”. - Mo to Lillian, GL 1-5-1993. What I want to know is who wrote that iconic line?

To me I'm not seeing big bad out of proportion to reality. Instead I think I am seeing right vs. wrong in multiple situations And to me sounds like GH. Lulu is right, so by default both Dante & Valentin are wrong. The only problem with your glowing view of Valentin is that he & Charlotte are very badly codependent on each other in a seriously dysfunctional way!! So it sounds like you think Jason is gonna do this even though he just said he's not.

I expect Sonny to try that maybe Monday by trying to get Carly to get Jason to do what Sonny wants Jason to do. I also expect that Carly is gonna tell him to stop being stupid & head over to GH. She's not usually a MamaBear to Sonny but with him maybe dying & all, she's gonna make an exception, just this once.

I agree. he didn't do what the danged show did, which was basically to make Sonny look foolish. Who having chest pains refuses to see any doctor because they say they cannot afford to look weak. Hey, you, idiot, what you can't afford is to die because you are busy keeping up appearances. About Kristina, I too have had my doubts. But, now, I'm beginning to see a glimmer of hope & interest in being alive again.

Many of us love Ava but the Ava we love is NOT desperate. I have to admit Alexis saying that she couldn't afford her & slamming the door in her face, was really funny. But that one moment was the exception. For Ava to basically be making the rounds, begging Laura, trying to get Alexis' attention & mostly all Ava has been doing for days is too pitiful to be our Ava. No, please no.

RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Jan. 3rd was the one year anniversary of Bridget Dobson's death. It seems amazing that a year has already flown by. She is missed. May she continue to Rest in Power and Peace. I'd like share a paragraph from her obit with you. At Stanford, Bridget was celebrated for her trademark creativity and quirky intellect. Her Western Civilization final exam included a question about the causes of the Dark Ages. She wrote an 11-page answer from the point of view of a chicken. For Wallace Stegner’s Creative Writing class she wrote about the problem of birth control from the point of view and in the language of Chaucer’s Wife of Bath. These pieces were read to the entire student body.

ALL: Popular Actors playing Unpopular Characters
Oh, I think I blocked that out. I love Pinson but OMG, Janet moved in & almost ATE her new show in mere months & of course she was VERY unpopular. Good catch.

Ratings from the 70's
Just look at that! Steady as she goes, consistent growth when presumably the only variation was the clearance rate.

Of course, the instant Zas, armed with his diagnosis, approached the show about writing his situation into the show, the writers jumped to immediately begin spitballing what they would write & how they would write it. Obviously they'd put Holly back in Roger's orbit ... but as we know Paul shut them down & even had the nerve to say to them they knew why this was never gonna happen. Funny, because they didn't think that they knew!!! I want to underline this! We can be proud of the writing team. By all accounts, their reaction was immediate, positive, affirming & reaching for a writer's solution as fast as they could brainstorm, completely assuming that this WOULD BE DONE.
