  1. I was at a con & met a guy who did statistics for NBC Daytime & heard horror stories! My favorite was so simple just being asked if they liked two people together going by nothing but b&w head shots!!!
  2. I know I read at least 4 books he wrote! RIP
  3. Contract & recurring are not somehow big issues that automatically connote employee philosophy or worth. They're just facts of life of the entertainment industry which can be used correctly or misused. Now, I've said ad nauseum what a huge mistake it was with Jerry & why. My point is that Wheeler's error was in taking him for granted & thinking that good ole Jerry would continue to be there. Mark Derwin blew that up! The show & us fans paid a heavy price for Wheeler being like a bad boyfriend, if you'll go to that spot with me. You are questioning JFP & firings & treatment of women at AW? Didn't happen there? I'm questioning because it was so egregious, so I'm trying to make sure I understand.
  4. At ATWT in the period we are talking about Ellen Wheeler was either one of the Directors or a Line Producer or as I mentioned, was shadowing Goutman ... absolutely none of that would have had anything at all to do with any story, content, plot, etc. What makes you think she was heavily involved in a story?
  5. LOL indeed. I thought immediately, this has been edited. Little did I know it even has a name!!!
  6. And I think this is a narrow way of looking at things. Ratings are not the only factor. As long as the numbers worked out, we have no reason to think P&G was dissatisfied. For just one example, as late as 2007, GL was profitable. And, as we all know, the bottom line is always the almighty dollar.
  7. Apparently there are different versions of this out there. What I have goes from the show opening to Bob & David at a small table in a restaurant. Thanks for the correction about which holiday. I find it surprising that Nancy made such a big deal about Thanksgiving but also that Bob didn't want them to be alone on Thanksgiving!
  8. Technically NOT FIRED. Jerry who I think was the first to get a contract BITD, was moved off contract to recurring. They literally called him the following week to book 4-5 dates since their intent was totally to continue to use him, weekly. Was he a wrong choice to move to recurring? YES!!!!!! [cough] Bradley Cole! or even Frank! or more choices ... It is very annoying for folks who should know better to keep saying Jerry was fired when all it is, is perpetuating an error & no, not you, Mitch. I, too, love the attention to detail, etc. for Otalia but they'd have needed more time in every day to give that kind of TLC to all the writing! This is something you say over & over & when you do every single time I think, nope, it literally was not "effectively" over until its actual cancellation many years later. As of the end of the OJ period, AW had not been canceled yet, even.
  9. I'm quite sure I made no claim of any strong anything! No, I think the ways in which they want to use their black characters would, yes, be definitely weaker. I think they value them because they tick off boxes that are necessary but they want to keep them in these narrowly defined spots & are annoyed that fans want them to be so much more. We are just so unreasonable, ya know!!! This is similar to the day I realized they valued Spencer like 80% & Trina 20% which I thought was backasswards since I found her to be far more interesting. As to when she'll be gone, gotta be whenever her contract is up. So I think we agree even though we take different paths to arrive at the same spot.
  10. See, I don't think it is a lack of interest. Instead I think they just have a way they intend to use them & if we don't happen to like the place on the canvas that they've mapped out for them, tough.
  11. How do you link block taping with organic pairing?
  12. In the beginning Bob and David were at a restaurant, smoking and talking. Also Nancy told someone that Bob had invited Lisa to Christmas.
  13. For my first I would nominate Chase for that really stupid category based on his saying to Willow last week, "You're a good person & everyone knows it," now I ask you isn't that incredibly stupid?!!
  14. Personally, I think trying to name absolute worsts is an exercise in futility. Instead I would respectfully suggest we concentrate on categories more like Best Girlfriend, Worst Cassadine, Most Egregiously Stupid, ... you get my idea, I'm sure. Doesn't that sound like fun?
  15. And, then later they went nuts trying to get him back. Even holding up story waiting. Even Courtney pled their case. And, most everyone went along with the cuts, said to be 15%. About Swajeski as a script doctor, I don't know but it was common to have one. I do know she wrote my favorite Otalia scenes - graveyard & gazebo. Also know Wheeler & Hurst daily went over Otalia dialogue, line by line.
  16. What specifically are you looking for?
  17. He is often good with Kristina and with Dante.
  18. I have been secretly in love with Wisner ever since he described the focus group experience and asked why they should replace their judgment with the opinions of a dozen housewives from Nebraska. That is not verbatim but close. I laughed so hard at his description.
  19. I know that Wheeler headed to ATWT A I know that Wheeler went to ATWT for the entire time that Conboy was EP at GL. Also at some point she & Scott McKinsey "shadowed" Chris Goutman to learn how to be an EP at a P&G show.
  20. A lifetime ago some people who indicated info about the inner workings of NBC daytime said that Sally Sussman Morina had a white knight protecting her at NBC. Has anyone ever heard this? And, who do you think it was?
  21. You seem like a good person to ask is it true that Ellen Weston had a deal giving her 3 years, one more than Conboy?
  22. Thanks for correction as to SW. Frankly it surprises me. At GH when he wrote BD he was highly thought of. But people have to fit where's there's a spot. And this topic is fine. I'd even say it's thriving.
