  1. It really is exhausting. The sheer act of countering the propaganda and lies seems unsurmountable. Especially when you realize how aggressively ignorant so many of our fellow Americans are.
  2. For someone who didn't vote, you've turned into one hell of a political wonk. I mean that as a compliment.
  3. They do that to distract from the fact that they voted for a demented, grotesque pervert.
  4. Even if the demographics favor us, we can see that the Republicans will just game the system to disenfranchise people. They're still going strong with voter suppression. These are people who wouldn't even give Merrick Garland a hearing, and look at how the N.C. legislature tried to hamstring Roy Cooper when they lost. Whether the numbers are in our favor or not, we're dealing with people who cheat because they know they can't win fairly. Even this week with the rush of hearings shows that they are stunningly and openly corrupt.
  5. Interesting. Even my Rob Portman is in favor of the delay and he's usually right in lockstep.
  6. I've already decided that redistricting is something I want to get involved with. That and working on Sherrod Brown's campaign are probably going to be the way I try to cope with this nightmare. Plus this campaign showed me that I no longer want to deal with people who need politics to be entertaining. no more marches or rallies with people who then turn around and stay. Give me the nitty gritty stuff working with people who understand what's at stake.
  7. And that is a perfect example of why he couldn't and won't gain traction with black voters.
  8. Yep. Not making fun of people with disabilities is now considered "elitism."
  9. Streep's speech has resulted in donations to the Committee to Protect Journalists. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/meryl-streeps-golden-globes-speech-press-freedom-group-touts-uptick-donations-shout-962785 I have to admit that I'd never heard of the organization before she mentioned it.
  10. I'm still in shutdown mode. I have friends who are organizing and seemed to have been able to hit the ground running but I just can't yet. I just keep thinking about all the new ways this is going to be horrible. The man is ignoring security briefings and baiting other countries. It's just a matter of time before we end up with another 9/11. But the worst is how the Republicans have abandoned even the pretense of caring about governing norms. It's just a free for all.
  11. Like him or hate him I think Baldwin has done a pretty masterful job of trolling Snatchgrabber.
  12. That's not nutty. It's logical. Nutty is thinking that Hillary Clinton is running a child sex ring in the basement of a pizza parlor.
  13. Lordy. Putin told him to WERQ!
  14. "Black Agnes" Yes! I forget. How did that become a thing? I may go back and revisit the PP/AMC thread just to relive the fights about Angie/Jesse/David.
  15. Leave it to you to bring this mess back to Pine Valley. Well done!
  16. That's going to be one of the few things I enjoy during this nightmare. Watching him throw people under the bus. His supporters, the people who thought they could manage him, the ones who fell in line, he'll turn on them one by one.
  17. He's unraveling much faster than I hoped imagined. He'll be drooling and wandering the streets in his pajamas by Inauguration day.
  18. It's going to be fun to watch KaC wither up into even more of a desiccated husk. The presidency is notorious for aging people but it won't age Trump 1.) because he doesn't care and 2.) his obvious dementia. OTOH it's going to kill Kellyanne and Pence.
  19. Because we've become a country full of stupid mean people who don't take anything seriously.
  20. I work for a company with offices around the world. We do perfectly well dealing with the healthcare and family leave and employment regulations in all of these other countries and still manage to make a pretty nifty profit. The truth is that it's the US offices that are a drain.
  21. Don't feed the troll.
  22. Nobody thinks you did this for sympathy. The truth is this stuff is life or death and it's terrifying to see how some people refuse to acknowledge that.
  23. You have IC? So do I. Or at least I did. I haven't had a flare in two years. Those drugs are pricey as hell. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Kasich was just touting his Medicaid expansion yesterday when he signed the opiate bill. He's still standing by it plus, IIRC you're down around the Columbus area right? He actually gives a damn about people in that part of the state.
  24. Seriously? Hee! The GOP is learning that he'll throw anyone under the bus.
  25. Exactly but Khan's right. Whenever there's a discussion of raising the minimum wage conservatives say that you aren't supposed to be living on those jobs but that ignores that fact that some people have to. Republicans always approach problem solving by talking about how they think things should be instead of how they really are.
