  1. The time to ignore Trump was at the beginning of his campaign. The media couldn't bring themselves to do that and instead gave him billions in free coverage.
  2. If Hillary's getting involved I suspect there's another shoe about to drop.
  3. Griftin' Jill conned her followers just like Trump conned his.
  4. She's a former First Lady and former Secretary of State. She gets Secret Service protection for life. I concur with both posts above but let's not think that Hll is just left to her own devices.
  5. It's fascinating to see his supporters rationalizing his about face on Hillary. You get to see in real time how they lie to themselves.
  6. The bad stuff about Bernie never got discussed. I didn't know until the Newsweek piece about his voting to send Vermont's nuclear waste to a poor Texas town populated mainly by Latinos. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eoin-higgins/what-about-sierra-blanca-bernie_b_9233818.html And yet, he never had to answer for that. He helped turn a town into Flint and didn't get a single question on it.
  7. Another broken campaign promise. He's not going to prosecute Hillary. I'm almost sorry I defriended so many of my conservative friends because I'd love to throw their gullible idiocy back at them.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if Trump Tower turns into a permanent protest site the way Zuccotti Park did during Occupy.
  9. This wasn't about progressivism. Bernie's fans cared about two things: free college and legal weed. They never really cared about the disenfranchised. That's why it was so easy for them to turn on women and PoC. You can't pretend you care about racial justice while you heckle John Lewis.
  10. True but it will take about a year for the bottom to fall out. Things will go along okay for a while then collapse entirely. I just hope it's right before the midterms. He's pushing for himself and using Warren as a prop to try and prove he's not a privileged, sexist jerk.
  11. Give it a year. Republicans always screw up the economy. ETA: I didn't notice the avatar. Ugh.
  12. That's what has me so despondent that we can fix this. The complete loss of fact and truth from the discussion.
  13. The opiate crisis is tearing Ohio apart too. As someone who remembers what the crack 90s were like, it's interesting to see Republicans suddenly decide drug addiction is a public health issue instead of a criminal one.
  14. Debating Trump vs. Pence is like debating pancreatic cancer vs. lung cancer. For me it's a matter of risk assessment and harm reduction. For all of his evil - and he IS evil - I'm not worried that Pence will actually use nuclear weapons. I want Donald to quit just so I can point and laugh at all the people he conned.
  15. I plead guilty. But honestly the Hamilton stuff is the first time I've felt right since the election. Watching conservatives bytch about a Broadway musical is giving me life. Conservatives and racists love to consume the products made by the people they hate. Pence sat in a room and watched an openly gay, openly HIV+, Latino actor play one of our Founding Fathers. Why on earth did he decide to do that?
  16. The moment when Donald Trump literally demands a safe space.
  17. How beautiful is it that Mike Pence getting his ass handed to him at "Hamilton" is the biggest news story in America right now?
  18. With all the talk about how to appeal to working class voters I've found this essay really interesting. http://forsetti.tumblr.com/post/153181757500/on-rural-america-understanding-isnt-the-problem "The real problem isn’t east coast elites don’t understand or care about rural America. The real problem is rural America doesn’t understand the causes of their own situations and fears and they have shown no interest in finding out. They don’t want to know why they feel the way they do or why they are struggling because the don’t want to admit it is in large part because of choices they’ve made and horrible things they’ve allowed themselves to believe."
  19. The funny thing is that Republicans opposed the suggestion that people on the no-fly list should be forbidden from buying guns. But now they want a registry.
  20. Bless her. Tell her to keep saying it. I'm glad your mom is in a decent position. It's the same with mine. It won't be fun but the house is paid off and most of her income comes from my dad's pension and some annuities. I shudder to hink about all the people who live off these so-called "entitlements."
  21. Not Cheney. He's every bit as evil as what we've already got. I'm still hoping 2016 works its magic on him.
  22. You know [!@#$%^&*] got real when I breathe a sigh of relief at the sight of Mitt Romney.
  23. The GOP is one statehouse away from being able to edit the Constitution at will. http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/a50672/state-legislatures-republicans/
  24. I'm so glad that Newsweek finally dropped the oppo research on Sanders. People treated him with kid gloves and his fanboys need to understand just how much of a pass he was given. The fact that Newsweek waited until after the election was a favor to him. I could already see him thinking that he was going to use this loss to increase his profile and help him in his re-election bid. He was treated like he was untouchable and clearly began to believe it. Hopefully this article was a reality check.
  25. Back when John McCain was running for president he told people at a campaign event that manufacturing jobs weren't coming back and that we had to figure out what to do next. I was amazed by his honesty and respected the hell out of him. This was the same John McCain who one remarked that immigrants, legal or not, were all God's children. So many people on the right lost their humanity once Obama was elected. Losing the White House broke them.
