This. Having Trump name Scalia's replacement with yet another Scalia sucks, especially after the disrespect of Merrick Garland but having him name a replacement for Kennedy or Ginsburg? That's the hill to die on. That's the time to pull out all the stops. Especially if the resistance can get stronger and more organized in the meantime.

It's sad but we've got to resist the urge to help people who voted against their own interests. It's tough for us on the left because empathy is a core value but too many people simply aren't motivated by empathy or hope or the idea that we are "stronger together." They are motivated by selfishness, fear and only learn through pain.

I wish. Then a lot of people who don't pay attention to politics might see what's going on.

Agreed. I've tried to subscribe to media outlets that I think did and do good work. WaPo, Newsweek, Vanity Fair and maybe Teen Vogue. But the Times has a lot to make up for before I give them a dime.

I agree with you but if this is what it takes for journalists to find their spines and souls again then so be it. Once Donnie banned WaPo they snapped out of the fog and rediscovered what journalism meant. I think the same will happen for individual journalists at CNN. Not the network because...Jeff Zucker. But IMO certain individuals will rediscover why they decided to go into the profession.

Good. CNN humped his leg for ratings and help put him in the White House. They deserve this.

No. Because they are all entitled assholes who are used to dealing with people devoid of intellectual curiosity.

Even the Koch brothers hate him. That's going to put the squeeze on establishment GOPs.

So we're back to the mythical paid protester, huh?

I believe that's the intention. I'm beginning to wonder if they've underestimated the level of pushback. It isn't just Trump feeling the pain. People in Congress are getting plenty of phone calls.

Every time Spicer steps to the podium I think he's about to pull a Budd Dwyer. (Look it up.)

It's not. The coffee would be considered "payment." They could sell coffee but giving it away would get shut down with the quickness. On election day here the Democrats set up barbecue grills so you could buy something to eat while in line. It was dirt cheap but free is a no-no.

For me it's not so much about enjoying their pain (although I do) but about making it impossible to dodge responsibility for what they did. Clearly some of these people only learn through pain so it's our job to make this hurt as much as possible so maybe the lesson sticks.

Bannon is basically public enemy #1. He's probably the biggest threat to the Republic in that cabal.

The Kochs know that as this resistance gathers steam its just a matter of time before someone suggests showing up at their house with pitchforks.

I know what you're saying but a lot of the most hateful among us like to hide behind a cross so I think it's important to call them out on their hypocrisy.

It will be interesting to see who will be the first high profile resignation of the Trump regime.

The crackdowns are coming. I've seen people liken this to the civil rights movement but it looks to me more like the anti-Vietnam movement. It's just a matter of time before we have another Kent State on our hands. It will be interesting to see what happens once young white people start dying.

That's Trump's spin for everything always. See also: the meeting with Nieto next week. Nieto canceled it and Donald claimed he canceled it because Mexico wouldn't discuss paying for the wall.

It's not surprising that people who have spent their lives seeing what happens under authoritarian regimes would be the first to walk out. They know what's coming and what would be demanded of them. They know they will be asked to turn on this country.

Her full explanation was excellent because it highlighted that a lot goes on that the public doesn't know about. The nihilist left is every bit as willfully ignorant as the tea party and just as vicious. Warren answered her accusers in a straightfoward style and she did it without allowing them to put her on the defensive. She made a case that reasonable people could understand and managed to shine a light on just how the tea party left will drag us to hell if we don't check them. I hope to see more Dems do the same. The hardcore Berniacs will never stop looking for revenge but this is a good way to cultivate people who genuinely care about principles over personality but need to learn how to channel that in more strategic ways.

There have always been cases of disaster relief being done poorly but once Obama took office it also became politicized. That's how desperate the GOP was to make people suffer for political points. Remember the reaction to Chris Christie welcoming Obama after Sandy. Just another example of people willing to kill themselves or others all in the name of racism and/or partisanship. This country is full of people who'd rather die under a white president than live under a black one.

Same. I hate having to become this person but these folks won't learn unless they suffer hard. I like to check in with www.areyousorryyet.com every day just to watch these people get what they deserve.
