  1. If I am not mistaken, the characters and show were based on a book. Maybe they were not brought over due to the possibility of having to pay the writer or publisher fees for using the characters.
  2. This thread is for comments and questions about the various children who have appeared on the soap operas. Does anyone know anything about Matthew Anton (Tad Gardner Martin #1, All My Children) or Diane Dell (Amy Britton, The Secret Storm). Where are they, and what are they doing now?
  3. Oh, I really appreciate your promptness. One comment: are you sure that Neil Davenport was a doctor? His character's job was as (I thought) the campaign manager for Colin Whitney. He could have had a PhD and, thus, was a doctor - but I don't seem to remember that.
  4. Slick, the New York Times obituary for Earle Hyman mentioned that he, as did many actors who love the stage, took roles on television in order to augment income. It specified police shows and soap operas (plural). That made me wonder about other soap opera roles in addition to The Edge of Night. Could you list any roles that you know he played?
  5. Leslie Jackson Bauer Norris Baurer, R. N was the heart and soul of Guiding Light, in my opinion She too was killed.
  6. Thank you. Slick and Amy! I am much better. I had had no warnings that I was that sick - especially with the flu/pneumonia. I am home (or, more precisely) at the home of a relative. I will be returning to my regular life pretty soon, and am grateful for friends such as you, my doctors and the other healthcare professionals, and to God for allowing me to return.
  7. Steve Elmore, who had played Peter Willis #1 on the original cast of this show, died in November.
  8. If my memory serves me correctly, Bruce Gray appeared on this show. He also has passed away.
  9. I have been in the hospital for a few weeks due to pneumonia, flu, and, and a heart attack. Since returning home, I have learned that three performers from The Edge of Night have passed away: Ann Wedgeworth (Angie Talbot), Bruce Gray (Wyatt, I think), and Earle Hyman (Neil Davenport and balliff).
  10. Kenneth Harvey, in addition to writing for All My Children and appearing on Search for Tomorrow and Guiding Light, also appeared on As the World Turns. (I saw him in a clip on YouTube.) He played an attorney, but I cannot remember whose trial it was. (possibly the custody battle for Jimmy Lowell/Danny Stewart) His wife also appeared on The Secret Storm as the second Nola Hollister and on The Edge of Night as Dr. Ursula Bower in 1962. Her name was Rita Marley.
  11. My late mother definitely did not care for Sada Thompson. She thought that Ms. Thompson was too perfect. She admired that she was a lady of size and was dressed neatly and stylish, but she said that the character tried too hard to be a perfect mother and wife. We really liked, instead, James Broderick as the husband. My mother recognized him and said that he had played one of Ellen Lowell's boyfriends on As the World Turns. (He had also been on The Secret Storm, but she did not watch that.) Jim Norman was the name of the character on As the World Turns. He and Ellen had become engaged, but, upon learning that she had given birth to a child, he dumped her and left town.
  12. I agree about Virginia Vestoff. She was wonderful on the show, in my opinion!
  13. to Slick: I have e-mailed you an e-mail address that you may want. I hope that it is still current!
  14. Katherine Mesgill also appeared on Where the Heart Is. On one list, that credit is omitted; later, I found it listed. Susan Browning also appeared on All My Children. Stephanie Braxton also appeared on the primetime King's Crossing (playing the wife of Michael Zaslow). Biff McGuire played Harry Flax on All My Children (a contract role). Mary Jackson played one of the Baldwin sisters on The Waltons. Rudy Solari played Paul Stoddard #1 on Dark Shadows. (in a flashback scene) Robert Gentry and David Birney also appeared on The Best of Everything. Thom Christopher also appeared on Ryan's Hope as a no-name character (He was one of the gangsters who entered Ryan's Bar shooting.) By the way, Frances Fuller was the wife of Worthington Miner, mother of Peter Miner, and grandmother of Rachel Miner. Zoe Cannell was a character on Somerset (played by Lois Smith). There may be an actress with that name. I believe that Susan Bigelow was on both The Edge of Night and The Doctors. Maureen Mooney played Mrs. Coles on All My Children (another contract role. Her husband was played by Bruce Gray.)
  15. Geraldine Court also played Mary Georgia on All My Children. And, she wrote very briefly for Loving.
  16. I cannot remember a half-sister of Liza
  17. I am assuming that she was replaced. The show was having a lot of cast changes at the time, and there were two more actresses to play Nancy after her. To me, Alexandra Paul(Diane Thompson) should have played Nancy, rather than Poppy Lincoln.
  18. Here is a picture (in the peach color) of Lisa Sutton (Nancy Feldman #2).
  19. Mr. Pendleton played two roles on The Edge of Night: Dr. Neil Wellman and Julius Newcomb (an attorney). This was his first role. Incidentally, there were two characters on The Edge of Night named Neil: Neil Davenport and Dr. Neil Wellman. Both were played by African-American actors.
  20. I think that these commercials go back farther than 1979.
  21. Her actions explain her true character.
  22. Tom aged very rapidly, but he was seen as a youngster for several years (played by Tony winner Frankie Michaels), then as a high school student (played by Richard Thomas). I am not sure why, but Mr. Thomas was soon replaced. (I suspect that it was due to not being accepted by the audience.) Paul O'Keefe (who had already played Danny on the same show and then played Ross on The Patty Duke Show) replaced Richard Thomas and played the role (probably for several years). Tom was a high school student with a girlfriend, Sally (played by Kathy Cody). Then, Paul O'Keefe was replaced with Richard Link playing the role as an older person. The Hughes family was afraid that Tom would be drafted and sent to Viet Nam. Then came Peter Gallman and David Cherrill (writer C. David Colson) and Tom Tammi. That is as far as I viewed.
  23. The clip above was written by H. Y. Bingham. I had never seen his name associated with the show, and I can find no information about him. Does anyone else know what else he wrote?
  24. And hopefully, these will be in chronological order. CORRECTIONS TO AN ABOVE POST (posted by me): IRENE KANE was not the original Jill Stevens on The Secret Storm. Instead, she played Connie on Love of Life. AUDREY JOHNSTON (mentioned above) was the original Jill, and she later returned to The Secret Storm as Martha Ann, who was a friend of Belle"s.
  25. Bonnie Bartlett was the second actress to play Vanessa on Love of Life.
