New Day in Eden is the soap where they were doing nude scenes, right? If so, I doubt any of that would be on YT but I'd be eager to see and read some stuff on that. Time for me to do a deep dive and see what I come up with. 😜 That aside, was that show a success abroad? I'd imagine it would be as nudity in all other countries is nothing. And what did Ismael Carlo do to piss off the Dobsons? Regardless of what he did, I don't think it should've resulted in the marginalizing of the Andrades even more. They could've recast him or phased him out. I always felt that Ted floundered unlike the rest of the Capwells b/c he didn't have a steady set of peers to act off of. All of his leading ladies either left (Laken & Christie) or killed off (Hayley). And I liked the friendship of Ted/Danny. That's one thing I would love to pick the brain of Jerome Dobson or any writer of SB throughout the duration--why was Ted always cast aside? You'd think he would've drove story more than anyone during that time as soaps were pushing young adult stories out like crack at that time. I think Santana should've remained a mainstay throughout the entire run. But from what I've read and seen, she became a casualty to the Capwells. They should've kept her as a foil to Gina over Keith. Or this is where I feel like they should've focused more on expanding the canvas past the Capwells as we could've seen Santana with other men on the canvas.

I don't think you said anything bad. I think your takes are all accurate. While I didn't watch the show in real-time, having consumed a good bit via YT, it is apparent that the show could've been more if they focused on other families outside the Capwells or just Eden. SB would've probably been more suitable as a 30-minute show (like B&B) instead of an hour. All the stories outside the Capwells seem to flop or not hold interest with the audience. If the show maintained the premise it had the first 1-2 years with the multiple families, it would've made sense to remain an hour. After the Perkins, Andrade, and Lockridges got cast aside, it made no more sense for the show to be an hour.

DAYS: June 2024 Discussion Thread
*sighs* Lemme just keep it cute and stay on mute. I don't think I'll say the right thing and end up in deep sh*t if I say what I am thinking. And it boggles me that these actors who are living on six-figure (or more) salaries are acting like it is killing them to pay their share in taxes and p*ssed b/c they can't buy that one extra gaudy boat or car that they didn't need.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
The Gorgas are dumb. They displayed why this show will never be able to get rid of Teresa. If anything, they should've took the gift, been gracious, and moved on. And MeHo is already using the gift as her story in the next episode. It is sprinkled cookies all over again. Further proves the Gorgas cannot carry a show. And I was glad that Dolo and Jackie both called out Cindy Lou Who for not wanting to go to lunch to create peace. Her and Uncle Fester went there to get camera time and prolong a feud. It just boggles my mind how this cast is so inept to the concept that they are at the point of no return, yet they double down and continue to delve into the toxicity. I'd rather they shelve NJ altogether and go start a new city.

ALL: Daytime's Best Dads?
Bob Hughes and Mac Cory will always be top-tier for me. Both exuded warmth and papa bear energy that is unmatched. Furthermore, I have tremendous respect that both men raised and acknowledged kids that were not biologically theirs as their own (i.e. Andy and Matthew).

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Oh, they are desperate. Ratings appear to be down on the current batch of Housewives shows. Dubai and NJ are barely staying afloat. And announcing NJ isn't having a reunion has caused ratings to bleed out even more. OC might do numbers when they come back in July as most people will want to see Shannon v. Alexis.

I honestly think it is a PR stunt to generate buzz for the upcoming season.

That makes sense why so many stars got cast on that show. Thanks for clearing that up.

Was The Doctors airing opposite of OLTL in 1980? I am asking b/c I was watching some of the episodes from that time late last night, and I noticed a ton of OLTL stars on The Doctors at that time (i.e. Doris Belack, Michael Storm, Kathy Glass, and Nancy Pinkerton). Odd too because doesn't Dorian Lopinto head to OLTL after this? I think because I started watching the episode where Missy got shot in the hospital siege up until her funeral, I didn't get a full grasp of what was going on. And when did Luke, who from what I've seen from earlier years, go from gigolo to Rambo? I assume this is the transition where soaps were embedding action stories to compete with GH (correct me I am wrong). I didn't know that David Canary also did a stint on the show. David has to be one of the few actors I've never seen age. He's always looked the same in every project I've seen him in--handsome and dignified. That aside, I got to go back and rewatch this arc from the start to get a gist of what it was about and why they held up the hospital. And I didn't realize that Missy/Luke had just married (2 months prior) before killing her off. This has to be one of the shortest unions on a soap. But what was this Claudia/Ashley car wreck story about? My gripe about it was Claudia recalling moving who I assume was Ashley's father toward the car to make him look like the driver and the cops just accepting it. Maybe b/c I watch crime TV so much, that wouldn't fly. The cops would've seen the smear of blood from him being dragged from his initial spot up to the wheel of the car. But that's to be expected for that time. I will give them props for the many exterior shots at this time. They look nice for the early 80s.

Maybe. 🤣 But it does crack me up how many actors from GH, B&B, and Y&R many people tweet at MVJ about suggesting she cast all the time. Becky and Tabyana are typically the main two I see trickling down my timeline. I know the fans are just tiring poor MVJ at this point. As @Liberty City pointed out, it is partially due to Taby being a recast, but I really think it stems solely from racism. That girl gets so many racist tweets a day, it is sad. And she's a sweetheart on social media. I've never understood the venom she receives. It's weird.

Agreed. If CBS was going to air the award show, at least promote your daytime shows during the show. I saw more promotions for Elsbeth and Matlock 2.0 than I did any of their daytime lineup. They should've had The Talk (even though I don't care for the show) present and bid their fans adieu while announcing their final airdate in December. Nichelle and Kevin could've did a segment with Michele discussing The Gates and getting an exclusive as to what to expect. Again, you could've done a 10-second promo that ran numerous times throughout the award show about the timeslot and premiere date of The Gates. I feel like incompetent people run networks nowadays. And they wonder why Netflix and Disney+ are whipping their asses.

I'd agree that the EMMYs should not be seen again but not b/c of the fans. I don't know if you watched it or not, but I was not impressed by the ceremony. It was a downgrade compared to the previous two years. IMO, it looked thrown together and the cheesy bits throughout the show didn't help. They really should've taken a page from last year's primetime EMMYs on Fox. It would've been cute had they done vignettes to past soaps and had them present but whatever. And CBS missed the mark by not promoting or teasing The Gates or any other soap.

Question--does anyone knows the official birth order of the Reardon kids? I mean I know Chelsea is the youngest and Jim is older than Tony. I've just always wondered about the official order. This is sparked due to me having my annual Quola binge-fest where I watch their arc from start to finish.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Now that you all framed it that way, it now makes sense. I just kept watching each episode and kept wondering why they just didn't put them in the real organizations they were referencing, but now I get it. Thank you both!

I am praying that all that stuff that is rumored to be going on in RHOA is not true at all. That's all.

Does anyone know why they opted to say David works for the CEA instead of the CIA?
