Whitney Houston dead at 48!
I love Joan Rivers. She's fearless...it's a tasteless joke, it wouldn't ever be the "right" time.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
The simple fact of the matter is most of the Asian population with substantial wealth wouldn't be caught dead on RHOV, it's far too undignified for them. I do see a point in having a sedate member of the cast, if everyone's a live wire, it gets exhausting. When you say if they focused on Reiko's husband (ie his past) it could be juicy...again that's juice being derived from a dark, ugly place. It might be accurate, but it would make the whole show, like NJ is now, a dark, angry, ugly thing. It might not be necessarily accurate to her personally, but Reiko's depiction really is a typical Vancouverite, most of us don't like a lot of drama. And you're absolutely right, most of the franchises start this way and you're bang on with season 3 being the usual breaking point...I am a little hopeful that because Vancouver is not produced in any association with Bravo that it stands a chance of being reflective of the production company (Lark Productions)'s goal because if all the other programs had this type of balance, they'd be even more compulsive to watch,

Reiko is the last one they should replace, she has a purpose on the show: the woman who actually gets along with people and doesn't talk smack. As well, in terms of depicting Vancouver in any way accurately, Reiko being Asian is so important, Vancouver has a massive, influential and celebrated Asian population, to not have an Asian woman in the cast would be a slap in the face to a population that nears 500,000 in the city and many times that in the province and country. What makes Vancouver a good franchise is that the Canadian network and production company have taken a slightly different approach to the show, it isn't all drama all the time, there is a good balance of fun and light, which is my major problem with what NJ, BH and NYC have devolved to, very dark, very nasty. The other franchises derive their fun out of being mean or gossipy. Vancouver, on the whole, does not. Reiko is the fun and light side, her role is necessary.

Kelly was absolutely the worst. Worse than Taylor Armstrong in my opinion and that's saying something. At least Taylor had the sense to fly off the handle at opportune times...Kelly was just a sicko. I also agree that getting ride of Alex was a mistake, she wasn't a dipshit cow like Jill, Kelly or Cindy...but she WAS less glamorous than the rest of the pack, so I can see why they ditched her in favour of getting a Radziwill on board.

That is Kate O'Mara...she's really done some filler work to that face, there's something alluring about her still. I really like the dress on Joan...she herself has decried how her waistline has gone, I think the dress is elegant and shows off her best bits...for 79, I say magnificent. And look at The Queen's smile, looks like someone else is part of the Joan Collins Fan Club!

Absolutely, NJ is a further example of the franchise skewing too dark and ugly. Taylor & Kim & Kyle, the Jersey women, Jill & Kelly of NYC, Marlo of ATL...when the shows get too dark and nasty, they stop being enjoyable.

Beverly Hills, NY and Vancouver have a few cast members a piece with legitimate wealth and connections...

Word. These women look like the very definition of chav. Tacky, tacky, tacky. I have family in Ireland who make these women look like paupers. Real Irish society wouldn't touch this show with a ten foot pole on account of how bad the Irish economy is. If this was 10 years ago, you'd see a really interesting, rich cast with a lot more class than these women.

The latest OC was really great, especially the ending there with Vicki and Brianna....Brianna's got Brooks' number and it galled Vicki that Brianna knew that Vicki had started up with Brooks before she was finished with Don. Vicki should be ashamed of herself. One, for checking out of her marriage before it was really over. Two, for being duped by a skeeze like Brooks. Next week looks even better!

When it comes to the Jewish thing, it's likely lost in cultural translation. It's a big insult in Vancouver because everyone in the city is very hyper aware of other cultures and ethnicity, it's a cultural mosaic kind of place so when someone says something about someone else's heritage, it's treated as a very big deal because it's seen by many as a personal attack on heritage. Here's the problem for Jody: MARY NEVER SAID IT! Mary did say she had heard Jody wasn't Jewish, but she never declared it as gospel herself. The production values on the show are superb. Vancouver isn't called Hollywood North for nothing!

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Airing RHoV on Bravo would ruin the show because what works about these women is that their egos, while huge in comparison to normal people, are tiny in comparison to the rest of the RHos simply because they're Canadian. While RHoV is a huge hit in Canada, it's still Canada, a country of around 34 million people...the notoriety these women would get if it aired in the US on Bravo would go straight to their heads and they'd be ruined. As well, Bravo doesn't have any role in producing this franchise, it's a Canadian production company (Lark Productions based in Vancouver) and a Canadian network (Slice, owned by the Canadian media giant Shaw Communications), I feel like what we've seen with NJ, OC, NYC and to a lesser extent BH and ATL is a focus on nasty, overblown, confrontation...the RH franchise has gotten darker, nastier and uglier as the years go by, that likely has something to do with Bravo so for the good of RHoV I hope it stays exclusively Canadian.

They don't, but Christina, whose in the middle, does blow a kiss that turns into a maple leaf (taken from the Canadian flag) that affixes itself to the title of the show.

Love Kim on Wendy Williams. I'd like to see her and Nene get together.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I have to admit, I'm not watching this season of RHoNJ. Last season was too negative and ultimately pointless, demonstrating how each and every one of the women in the cast is a person I would not like to meet in real life. I didn't watch Miami, won't be watching NJ and am glad DC was cancelled. Some of these franchises have had their day.

This week's episode should be AMAZING. The "niece" thing is so odd.

Nene and Kim...I'm so comfortable with where they are at. Kim giggled when Nene dished out the "Uh, you had a little help there"...Nene smiled when she saw the footage of Kim's daughters speaking about Kroy. Nene and Kim both seemed very cordial about Nene getting Kim on the show, Nene absolutely acknowledged that Kim told her how grateful she was multiple times, Kim said she wouldn't have her life without the show that Nene set her up for. They both said they wished the best for each other. I think they might even have a tiny smidgen of respect for each other because they are the two women who have capitalized on this Real Housewives gravy train like nobody else. They saw their chance at the brass ring and ran with it. Really, this was a good reunion if you looked for the nuances between Nene and Kim.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
RHoA Reunion 2 wasn't nearly as good as the first half...but I notice a few things: 1) Cynthia is a trifling fool 2) Peter continues to be a huge douchebag 3) Kroy, Phaedra and Apollo all know when to shut up and smile politely 4) Nene and Kim are really over, there isn't hate, there's indifference and that's the opposite of love 5) Sheree desperately tried to stay relevant 6) Marlo belly flopped with her Kim attack, it just didn't work Next week, Team Khandi for the win.
