Did Diane De Vegh really only last one episode? If so, that reminds me of Irna Phillips firing actors at such short notice.(maybe Agnes copied her lead) Will Lee apparently played Grandpa Hughes for one episode and there were a couple of actors from the original cast of AW that were short lived. I wonder how this came to pass? Surely Irna had casting approval? Could an actor's performance really be judged from one or two episodes? And was there any guarantee the replacement would be any better?

Can I digress and ask about the Tom Edwards character? Joe Gallison was hired hot on the heels of a successful run on AW (written by Agnes Nixon). Tom had amnesia. Was it hinted that he was Victor's son? Was his true identity revealed? How was Tom written out? Thanks in advance.

Or maybe she took some pills before surgery?

Great the these clips have turned up.Leads me to believe that there is much more 'classic' stuff around as actorsdirectors may have collected material for whatever reason. Search was ahead of the game here anticipating the more out there approach of the 80's. Which, in small doses,was to me,acceptable. as long as the crazier stuff was balanced with more traditional fare and not the whole show. It was a shame Mignon was short lived as she could have been a disruptor to Travis and Liza for years. I always thought SFT had better sets/lighting ertc than the other P&G shows at that time. Such a waste that within a few years the show was destroyed.

Regarding Bill Matthews/ Joe Gallison on AW - Was he fired or did he leave when his contract expired. Just that I find it hard to believe that AW would drop such a popular character unless the actor decided to depart.

Robert J Shaw had worked on soaps as far back as the 50s. Possibly Brighter Day and definitely Love of Life. I think he is regarded as a bit of a 'journeyman' ie he knows the basics and can come up with a year or so of stories and then move on.

Re Kristen Vigard It was stated that she was often late to studio/set and not prepared eg not knowing her lines. Whether this was drug related?

In an interview when he was appearing on Valiant Lady, Lawrence Weber mentioned he had previously appeared on Love of Life.
