BTG: December 2025 Discussion Thread
BTG has had more doctors in rotation than most soaps other that GH (I'm just guessing since I don't watch that show). Usually soaps have one doctor character handling everything.

He was thinking of himself big time. Had it been true he didn't want it coming out that he knew and didn't tell Nicole which would ruin any infinitesimal chance at reuniting with her. Now some viewers took it as him being vindictive and being of the misery loves company logic. He was slightly nasty when he mentioned Vernon being perfect.

As any sort of creator it is important to be realistic that critiques are not all positive. Some writers will pretend to only see the positive feedback.

MVJ was in a group called the Articulettes so the name was taken from there (most probably already know that though). Toward the beginning of the show the movement that Vernon was involved in was labeled as being in the 70s which pushes the timeline back a bit, but it still makes the Articulettes era a bit confusing. I think that Anita is supposed to be somewhere around the age of Diana, Gladys, Patti, etc. but the Articulettes music is late 80s/early 90s sounding. And yes, a fan could have done better. A contest to come up with a picture with the prize being a walk on role would have been nice for an aspiring graphics designer.

I didn't want to say anything about the photo because it was so poorly crafted and I expected better. Perhaps production wanted to stay away from AI but this would have been an acceptable use if they didn't want to hire anyone to photograph as young Vernon and Anita. It wouldn't have cost that much to pay for a couple of models to pose for a picture.

ALL: What do you hope for soaps in 2026?
Other than Beyond The Gates, I don't have much hope the other soaps will improve because the writers don't seem to think improvement is necessary as long as they maintain a core audience that keeps tuning in. BTG is working for that and I have hope that they pump up the drama so that viewers are anxious to tune in each day.

The Christmas episode was quite good and in comparison to B&B's the togetherness didn't feel inauthenic. I don't think that the cast at B&B is incapable of portraying warm and authentic family moments, it's just that the writing has thrown family bonds by the wayside for betrayal and backstabbing over the years. Of course, P&G soaps have always done family right while other soaps were weaker on that front.

I saw Karla play Deena Jones in a concert version of Dreamgirls a few years ago, so she can definitely sing.

I've said that there have been some issues with the writing including having too much going on at one time. The show isn't perfect and needs to move some of the storylines it has already started. But I'm not going to argue about it and I've voiced my opinions.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
The whole chromakey background for Sky and Raven was previously used for Preacher and Jody post Karrie Emerson taking over. Preacher and Jody kissing was used when Lori Loughlin was still around but it was actual location footage. EON also used Chromakey when Sky and Raven were at the airport one time and it looked ridiculous.

It wasn't directed at you so you have no reason to be offended. It's fine if you don't care for the show because everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that particular poster has other reasons for the constant backhanded comments that read differently than criticism of other soaps. Some people just are not comfortable with a soap created by a Black writer (and I am not directing that at you) and it shows. I see this all the time with Black content on television and it strikes a nerve with me.

Nobody said that, so don't exaggerate. Soapsuds has been very hostile about the show since it was in planning if I recall correctly and he gives big micro aggression vibes at times. If this was an all White show filled with stereotypical handsome White men playing out the same storylines he would be praising it. I don't have an issue with people not liking the show, it's the trolling vibes I don't like.

BTG: Season 2 promo
The show seems to be embracing the old "Love In The Afternoon" approach.

Kat ignored Eva, but she managed to be nasty to someone who has done nothing to her. That attitude she gave June was uncalled for. Ted just blurting out that Vernon is having an affair when he doesn't have reliable information was reckless. Not at all a bad Christmas themed episode.

It's also worth noting that CBS allowed an extremists right-winger to take over its news division after the acquisition so who knows what else Skydance is trying to shift in other directions.

Being able to have fun on set in between takes is a really good thing because like with any other job the better you feel about being in the environment the more productive you are. Maurice Johnson wearing a pink suit while complaining about masculinity and homosexuality. He probably wasn't thrilled about playing a role where a gay character shoved him down because it goes against his idea how gay men behave.

As the saying goes, "You never miss the water until it's gone". And Bill was fine as long as Dani was a disaster and pining for him, but her having a younger husband has him unsettled.

"I swear if you're trying to get out of St. Bart's!" was when I really understood the Kristen DiMera comparison. That's definitely how Kristen would snap at somebody.

The setup is most likely for Vanessa to end up in deep with Joey and then find out the truth. In regards to Doug her whole need for excitement was sort of mentioned at one point when it was referenced that she used to sneak him behind the gates when he was still in the hood. After the novelty of messing around with Black guy from the hood wore off so did "being in love" with Doug.

Not a big Tomas fan, but he was right about not giving up his position at the firm to struggle trying to make it from the ground up. It is easy for Kat to tell him to do that because she has had every advantage.

Martin was wearing a DC Flag pin last week. But the writers are likely being deliberately ambiguous about the district to not reference real politics. "Scandal" would have the political landscape extremely different than real life.

Hayley/Roberta/Val got really agitated when Bill mentioned Joey asking him to run for Congress. Guess that would be a little too much publicity for a scammer to be adjacent to.

Erika Kirk, oops, I mean Hayley Hamilton looked so rattled at the client that was in Bill's office. Could be someone who was in on a scam with her at one time or maybe a relative of one of her victims.
