  1. Wow what a twisted finale. Changes are coming for Season 3, but I don’t know how long the show will actually go on for: https://tvline.com/2019/05/25/dynasty-recap-season-2-episode-22-finale-liam-dead-alive/
  2. Like Dynasty, this show has disintegrated into a complete mess. The cast has talent, but it feels like the show is recycling Pretty Little Liars stories and doesn't represent the spirit of the comics anymore. It's sister show Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix is interesting but tries so hard that something about it rings false.
  3. Lol I'm playing catch up and thought I was replying to the Worst Producer thread. Ashley has historically since 1982 been the show's #2 heroine/leading lady. Granted during Brenda's later years Ashley was #4 or #5 and during the Shattuck years probably dead last after Megan Dennison but the character of Ashley Abbott is so unique, iconic, and vital to Y&R that to lose her is a good way to know that the person in charge is indeed an idiot in charge.
  4. Anytime a Y&R EP lets Ashley go they always get fired right afterward. Latham, MAB, and Mal all learned this the hard way. Anyways, to break down in my opinion the worst EP for each show I've watched over the years: ATWT: Goutman and Valente AW: Charlotte Savitz B&B: Thudley Bell Days: Ken Corday GL: Jon Conboy Y&R: MAB, Pratt, and Mal all could be in the running for this one, but quite honestly this one still goes to Latham.
  5. Oh lord this is about the hokiest thing I’ve ever seen done, but some how Gillies actually pulled it off.
  6. Yes Daniel Bedingfield did appear as himself singing the song on GL but I thought it was for Tony/Marah, but reading I do agree it must have been for the Manny wedding at the Bauer BBQ that year. It was an interesting ad campaign CBS had ran in the summer of 2003 with Bedingfield's song for all four of its soaps, I do remember liking the ATWT one a lot. However as just about all the CBS summertime campaings fell apart from 2002-2005ish, we got that lovely B&B promo of Amber holding Little Eric over a cliff with the announcer yelling "IS THIS HOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?" Which lead way to CBS Daytime's disastrous "Leave the Lights On" campaign that fall. Not only did the annoying light rock song play for every Crimson Lights scene on Y&R, but it also served as the background for music for the strange Friday cliffhanger which had Jeffrey and Beth having sex on the floor of a Japanese restaurant juxtaposed with Shayne crashing his car on GL.
  7. I never understood why AW had such a penchant for killing off viable characters in the '80s. Sally Frame was one of them, but there was also the gruesome inexplicable murder of Julia Matthews Shearer as well.
  8. Christian LeBlanc aside, I know Biredz mentioned him, Terry Lester, and Michael Corbett was Y&R's trio of gay actors in the late '80s. I know Lester died of AIDS, but other what Biredz mentioned hadn't ever heard anything official on Corbett, although Walton did post this picture of her and him on TPIR set two years ago:
  9. Yeah, this whole show has really turned into a silly and campy farce. There are some good moments here and there, but right now it feels like a Desperate Housewives knock-off series. The whole Culhane/Ava story is odd. I know this is a month old now Carl but I was wondering what has happened to that show turning into a more action oriented supernatural show as of late. Not sure if that was what the show was trying to aim for, but Season 3 has been a mess so far.
  10. Oddly this stuff feels like it was yesterday too! Technically I believe the past week has marked 25 years since Victor resurfaced in Genoa City; I am officially ancient.
  11. Lol, and Carol and Marjorie are definitely far more adept than Megan "The paparazzi are here!" Conley ever was at doing press conferences. Thanks! After recently re-watching the best of Mari Jo I felt it was time for a nice change up. Especially after realizing it has been well 25 years since a lot of this stuff went down!
  12. Thanks for the fun find YRfan23!!! Lol I suppose these "very important" press conferences gave Brad the inspiration to do his own uber dramatic press conferences over on B&B.
  13. Would make sense! I count Brown in with group of historically NYC soap actors that later found massive success with West Coast soaps.
  14. @YRfan23 I LOVE YOU!!!! Thank you for sharing!
  15. Wow never seen Brown in the role of Adelaide before! I've only seen Beverly Penberthy scenes which was such a treat. Given Brown's daytime fame, I wonder if ATWT had originally planned to keep her a lot longer but by that point I'd assume Brown lived on the west coast?
  16. I really enjoyed Dunphy too, she reminded me of a young Alison Sweeney. I know some hated her but her Alison was fun where as Schulenburg's Alison was pretty bleak. I'm surprised Dunphy never did anything else.
  17. It seemed like an odd revelation to make that Iris was adopted and then later to reverse the whole thing. I also found it odd in watching a couple summer 1979 90-minute eps of how cordial Iris was to Rachel at that point in AW history; I guess Iris had rejected Mac by that point and didn't like Janice so she felt sorry for Rachel? I really enjoyed Carmen Duncan's Iris and hated that her and the character were so undervalued and underplayed right up until that mind-boggling terrible exit.
  18. Thanks for sharing, it's always nice to hear whenever her voice pops up. Steele had actually taken over as announcer in late '81 when the show was still on CBS, but I have no idea how late into 1982 she was announcing to. One source I have lists her as announcer through 1984(except for Don Pardo doing the infamous live ep) until when Hal Simms of EON fame took over, but I don't think that's accurate. There use to be the 1-15-82 closing credits up on Youtube somewhere where Steele gave her own ATWT-style Friday spiel at the end of the credits, but I don't know if that video is still up somewhere.
  19. I loved the four of them, along with the first Jade who was fun as just a total shallow bitch. I hated their characters were destroyed by some very poor storytelling there--Will and Gwen getting baby rabies, Maddie become stark and depressing during the slasher story, and of course Casey being sent up the river for the Adam debacle. Ugh. The slasher story and the subsequent Ice storm stories were actually ratings successes for ATWT. The less said about Nick Kasnoff, Adam Munson's 2006/07 story, and Jeffrey Meek's Craig the better. I didn't think 2006 ATWT was awful per se, just found it overall disappointing and not fulfilling its potential and overall just poor execution of stories. The fallout of 2005 just seemed to be brushed aside and anything good that came out of it was inexplicably downgraded. Like @P.J. said, characters like Carly, Emily, and yes even Katie were destroyed for some ridiculous misogynist stuff. Carly and Katie were first ran through the wringer with the Nick Kasnoff caper and then thrown under the bus for Simon. Emily became a psycho again, keeping Dusty chained and then becoming a hooker by year's end. Also losing Jennifer left a huge hole in the show as she had become a tent-pole character and lead heroine to the show by that point, why the show didn't recast is beyond me. The attempted Emmy-grab story had some good acting, but its resolution was a massive failure and probably lead indirectly to Hendrickson's tragic passing. Meg chased after Craig because they their names rhyme! Still overall, 2006 was probably ATWT's last solid year and the last year the show would actually try to tell a story that lasted longer than a month. How the hell Spencer Grammer still has an acting career after playing Lucy on ATWT like the way she did is beyond me. The apple fell very, very far from the tree there.
  20. Thanks, it just struck me as odd that there were three narratives about Hal going on at the same time; the sad thing was characters like Kirk making some nasty snarky comments about Barbara not knowing Babs thought that Hal was dead and was withholding the truth from everyone else, yet both Kim and Lisa knew about Hal being presumed dead etc. It just came off as messy and unnecessary to me. I wonder why the Bell Tower episode was pre-empted that day? I know the 1-17-94 ep was pre-empted due to the Northridge earthquake but I'm not sure what happened to the 2/2/94 episode. Thanks for all your help though!
  21. Loved those classic Craig and Sierra clips! I always forget that Sierra didn't know Lucinda was her mother upon her arrival given how quick Lucinda was to meddle into Sierra's life. So I'm rewatching late 1992 eps and just two questions I have I can't why remember or fill the gaps in for sure: 1. Barbara and Frannie never ever made up did they? 2. Hal's death story is extremely peculiar; Barbara and half the town thinks he's dead, the other half thinks he just left town and abandoned Barbara, and then of course Tom knows he is still alive. Why the "secrecy" about Hal's death when it seems everyone close to Barbara knew he was dead.
  22. -First breakdown I'd say happened when Ashley found out Dina was her boyfriend Eric's other woman. -Second was learning that Brent Davis was her father -Third was from part Victor's extremely cold rejection of her following her abortion, the other part was depression/guilt from the abortion itself. -Fourth was after her husband Steven was murdered. -Fifth was a mini-break following Victor's presumed death -Sixth was the above following the Rick/Blade reveal -Seventh was Ashley having to confess to Victor that she was in fact the secret woman Cole had been seeing. -Eighth was learning of Brad and Olivia's affair -Ninth was following her car accident and son Robert's death. -Tenth was her hysterical pregnancy after her miscarriage with the whole Adam gaslight debacle. Am I missing any? Your welcome!! The synopsis for the month I have mention Lauren was growing close to Paul again as she was helping him recover and regain his strengths from injuries from Phyllis running him over, but she also stopped herself short and was pushing him back to Christine as well. Coming off of her hot tub fight with Sheila over on B&B, I guess they really had no idea what to do with Lauren by that point on Y&R.
  23. Thanks for sharing!!!! It's been years since I remember watching the infamous pillow stabbing scenes as Ashley was finally allowed to go berserk following the chilling yet low key revelation. Throwing Jill into the mix of the Rick/Blade story was a smart move and really helped save and drive the story's climax and aftermath.
  24. Yep! Hollen appeared as Patricia Kingsley, and her husband had been murdered by Hans. Patricia if I recall right knew of Paul or something, and there was some throwaway lines of how Paul Ryan was the one to introduce Lily to Damien. Interestingly Paul never showed up in person although I wondered if they thought about bringing him back as a connection to the plot at some point.
