Totally. I’ve been watching a lot of Marland-era ATWT lately, and you definitely see today’s GH attempt a similar vision, but it’s just so poorly executed and scattershot. ATWT could be slow and repetitive too, but the characters and their relationships are so beautifully drawn (and have space to breathe) that you live for their every interaction. Carly/Nina are no Margo/Barbara.

This show is zzzzzzzz. Slow as hell (yet with these lightning-quick scenes), dreary, with a lot of poorly defined, aimless characters and nothing that seems to link them together as a community. The show has no vibe, no heart, no humor.

Why is Elena telling all her business to Imani? Billy as the white man out of place. Triggered. I wonder if the show would actually go there. Make Billy voice discomfort as the only white guy in a company with majority-black leadership. Right now, they are dancing around the elephant in the room by calling it a “family” thing.

That’s a good one. Also, Alicia Coppola mentioned that her father died just before Lorna’s father Lucas passed away on AW, and the story actually helped her grieve.

There are some obvious ones (Sonny’s bipolar diagnosis on GH, Katherine’s alcoholism and facelift on Y&R), but are there any others you can think of?

This season of ATL is bringing it. It’s a full-on renaissance if it keeps it up. Strong Potomac vibes, and that’s the highest compliment in the world of Housewives. The hour flies by, and I don’t even feel the need to multitask or scroll through my phone. It’s early so things could fall apart, but the production is top-notch. Bravo is doing a piss-poor job of promoting it IMO. I don’t love Drew, but at least it’s entertaining to watch her get clowned. Kenya is bringing some sense by openly comparing Ralph to Marc at that dinner.
