  1. Perhaps. On the other hand, she could be just covering her ass. ;)
  2. Exactly, lol!
  3. Laura seemed to be into older men, didn't she?
  4. I ask myself that same question. Of course, you and I both know White America couldn't care less. If the situation were reversed, and Karens and Todds living in the suburbs had to wait in line for hours to vote, or deal with polling places that were short on workers and/or voting machines, things would be reformed lickety-split. But, it's brown and black people who have to deal with these inconveniences every freaking time, so [!@#$%^&*] 'em.
  5. Social media Must. Die.
  6. Here's a hint:
  7. I'd say I could enjoy anything from GL right up until, oh, maybe 1995? Then, after that, it gets dicey. VERY dicey.
  8. When will people learn to keep that mess off social media?
  9. It's Twitter. Need we say more? Agree!
  10. Apparently, nobody at the WH likes it when Daddy Donald is grumpy.
  11. Can one ever really save Meghan McCain? As always, I'm just saying!
  12. All these years later, I still recall a scene where Julie Williams holds Danny Waleska at gunpoint and Frank breaks into Val's house, where Danny was staying, in order to talk his daughter down -- only, it didn't look that way at first! Man, but that was some brilliant acting. From Kent Masters-King, from Sam Behrens and especially from Larry Riley.
  13. These days, I binge-watch "Unsolved Mysteries" on PlutoTV. The gullibility of wypipo never ceases to amaze me.
  14. That was my thought as well: "Okay, Mitty, what's it in for you?". Between voting to remove Trump from office and supporting BLM protesters, I'd like to think even a grifter like Mitt Romney has his moments of conscience. But, given everything else he's done throughout his political career, you'll forgive me if I can't bring myself to trust him as a politician just yet. Nah.
  15. IDK about all that; you probably make an excellent point. I just think you shouldn't go out of your way as an editorial page editor to solicit opinions that you KNOW are inflammatory and dangerous. It's one thing if Cotton had submitted the piece and Bennet had chosen to print it. But, to ask for something you have to know has the potential to harm more than help? It's like the journalism equivalent of asking Megan McTavish to pen a story about a lesbian getting pregnant as a result of rape. (Oh, wait.)
  16. And now, it seems, they're doing the same thing with #IStandWithJKRowling, in light of her...unfortunate remarks about trans people. Agree. Neither Mitt Romney nor George W. Bush get an attaboy from me just for doing the right thing. Especially when neither man will go one step further and endorse Joe Biden. TBH, I'm not sure how I feel about the #DefundThePolice debate either. I guess the logic is that our tax dollars shouldn't go toward funding law enforcement officers who make it their business to target brown and black people? Which is smart on one level -- after all, "money talks," or so the saying goes. And right now, I am so anti-police that I'll admit that sounds awfully good to me. But, if we succeed in defunding police departments, what happens to the resources that remain? Will there be enough "to serve and protect" us when we REALLY need them? Or, what if we succeed in defunding them to the point of bankrupting them entirely? What will we have as an alternative to the police? Would we REALLY turn back the clock to the days of militias made up of local, "well-meaning" townspeople? If so, you can include me out, lol.
  17. Agree. I think what appalled me (and still appalls me) is that Bennet and/or his staff sought out Tom Cotton to write that disgusting editorial, rather than the other way around. Learning about that tidbit changed my view on how editorial pages are run entirely.
  18. Once the storyline was rewritten -- originally, the men WERE responsible for Maryanne's death, but viewers balked -- all her motivation, along with much of the rest of the story, was out the old window. Without Maureen, the Bauers, who'd been GL's central, if vastly neglected, family, lacked a matriarch, the virtual backbone of any quality soap. Even if she hadn't been used properly in years, for longtime fans, it was still good to know that Maureen (and Ed) was around to provide that much-needed moral compass for the other characters on the show.
  19. I still believe Derek Chauvin did that as an "F.U." to the Colin Kaepernicks.
  20. The Maryanne Caruthers mystery (which GL swore was inspired by the movie "Ghost Story," although I beg to differ) was a virtual rip-off of the Eli Sims mystery from 1983; but even the previous storyline, IMO, didn't rewrite established GL history as egregiously as the one with the Caruthers sisters. Moreover, you have Carrie Nye back on the show after twenty-some-odd years, but NOT as Miss Piper? Here was a perfect opportunity to (lure back lapsed viewers and) revisit that particular story -- and, I dunno, maybe bring back the Black Spauldings or even resurrect Hillary Bauer? -- but instead, GL, you chose to waste her return on THAT [!@#$%^&*]? Really?
  21. Frankly, wherever it's gone to, it needs to stay there. Don't get me wrong, I agree that outing closeted homosexuals -- ANY closeted homosexuals -- is behavior we should not engage in or condone. However, this whole when-they-go-low business has turned political moderates into mealy-mouthed wimps. It has fostered this exasperating need for purity and "cancel culture" that, IMO, is greatly responsible for where we are at this moment; with Democrats forced to pin their hopes (for their fractured party, and for the sake of this country) on the likes of Joe Biden; and Republicans riding a continued high on the greasy backsides of Neo-Nazis, soccer moms and gun-loving rubes. Right now, at this moment, our leaders are having their finest hour, turning this country into a literal police state; and that's because, whenever the left has attempted to call them out on their blatant hypocrisies, all the right has had to do is point one finger back, say "Blah blah butheremail cakes," and then the left has another several seats without even being asked. It doesn't help matters any either when the "mainstream media" and the social media networks, who could and should be our allies, are instead in the metaphorical tank for our bullies within the GOP, because they're so scared of losing audiences who otherwise wouldn't bother. And I say all that as a self-identified moderate who will "vote blue" in November.
  22. I think it is possible. However, in order for social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to become a more useful tool in our daily lives, they need to put the needs and concerns of their users before their own wallets (and those of their advertisers and investors). I don't care that Donald Trump is our current president, or that forty percent or so literally pray to him on a regular basis. If the man disseminates false and dangerous information, or advocates violence against anyone, whether in this country or in another, then he and his account need to be sanctioned and/or taken down. Same goes for anyone, regardless of political affiliation, who logs onto these sites and spreads garbage about bogus antifa uprisings, fake COVID-19 cures, anti-vaxxing "science" and everything else that has turned this nation into a intellectual and ideological wasteland. There is freedom of speech that allows for the exchange of ideas, and then there is speech that just plain poses a danger to yourself and others. It's that simple.
  23. Frankly, there are longtime GL viewers who still believe that Leslie Bauer's death was the beginning of the end. And then to have it end with Ben committing suicide? The entire storyline was irresponsible. Agree. He was just so wrong for that particular show. So very, very, very wrong.
