Reading this reminded me of the time Y&R's Christine and Danny tried to help a "crack mother" see the error of her ways. IIRC, too, Courtney came along at a time when it seemed like JFP and McTavish were just handing out free long-lost half-siblings to everyone. There was Courtney, and Kristina (who was actually quite popular, I think) and at least one other that I'm forgetting atm.

All I can say is, I hope Kevin and Patrika are happy with the way their story turned out, 'cuz we sure as hell aren't, lol.

I gave up warning others about Mr. Hillbilly Elegy a long time ago. IDK why, but I just keep thinking of poor Brooke English on AMC. During her many years on that show, she endured both an abortion after being raped by vile Eddie Dorrance and an ectopic pregnancy (during her brief marriage to Tad Martin) that also resulted in terminating the pregnancy after it nearly killed her. I can't help but think tonight of all the Brookes who've had to face even one of those traumas, never mind both. Imagine how much more difficult their situations might have been, had they lived in a country or at a time when they were denied their right to safe and, in many cases, life-saving abortions.

I'm with @marceline: at some point, people need to realize that Bernie and "the Squad" are literal poison to worthwhile liberal and progressive causes. I just don't know when that point will come. And I realize that unions have a very complicated history and reputation in this country, but my God! When did seeking to protect workers' rights become NOT the thing to do anymore? Take it from someone who works for an organization whose treatment of its' non-management employees is so abominable that the AFL-CIO actually BEGGED us on one occasion to find someone within our ranks to take up the cause: We. Need. Unions. Regardless of who caused the leak or how, this much is clear: the only recourse we have at this point is to do whatever we can this election cycle and the next to install pro-choice politicians into office who will codify Roe v. Wade and similar legislature that protects women's reproductive rights into law. Agree.

IA. Instead of saying, "Abortions for everyone!," we should have been saying, "Let's codify Roe v. Wade into law right away, just in case SCOTUS is feelin' cute one day and decides to overturn it!". The thing is, I, Khan, as the child of parents who were told (by two experts) that there was no way they would ever conceive together, do not believe in abortion. For any reason. I believe each and every child that is conceived in this twisted universe has a right to live. BUT... I also believe that the government should mind their own [!@#$%^&*] business as to what individuals do and do not do with their own bodies. If our government is so concerned for our welfare, why not see to it that children who ARE born don't spend their lives in poverty? Why not see to it that those who, at this very moment, are without jobs and proper shelter HAVE jobs and homes to go to? Or how about making sure that some yahoo with a "Falling Down" fantasy can't just go gun shopping the way you or I can make a quick trip to our local 7-Eleven for some Funyuns and a Cherry Slurpee?

Oh, I know I will enjoy them, @carolineg. Even the worst stuff from that period is miles above today's best.
