Story-wise for sure. Jeff Trachta was perfect for the 80s musical romance (even though the story took place in the 1990) with Macy, but Harmon had the strongest stories. Nowadays, Harmon looks like Heather Locklear. And this is not a compliment. It would not be pretty to watch him on B&B anymore.

I don't think there was any real reason except that the writers had not made up their mind about details of Taylor's backstory yet. Take Saul and Darla as well - who walked around in LA without a last name for years. In an 1992 Saul introduced himself to Karen als Saul "Feinstein" - in later credits it would be Saul "Feinberg".

I liked ALL of Felicia's pairing but not this one. The story with Ganz was just too bad. Actually the whole Hamilton faily angles leave rather dry and cold. Just yesterday I say the big reunion at the chapel between Taylor/Jack/Zach. IMO, the writing was just not there for any of this. Maybe it's because Taylor's backstory was always developed as the story progressed unlike other Bill Bell characters who are clearly defined. The only thing established for Taylor was that she met Storm at college and has an ex husband. Blake failed to the extent that he was nothing more but a plot device to stir up trouble for Ridge&Brooke and Zach/Jack have too little connection to Taylor's actual on-screen life. Taylor/Jack were an okay father/daughter eventually, especially when she came back from her first death. While a plot twist in the rather short run of Jake, I thought this was kind of refreshing and honest that a man his age wondered what was "out there". There were some tennis students who made a play for him after all. This strokes your ego...

There were some terrific angles. As someone else pointed out before: Sheila fake-befriending Brooke and teaming up with Stephanie was AMAZING for instance. And the romance with Eric is heartwearming, even though Miss Carter is not that ar from her slightly too tight grip with which she pursued Scott Grainger. You're right about CBS promoting the hell out of the crossover. There are many promos on YouTube. And of course Y&R was No 1 so it made sense to stub Y&R viewers into checking out B&B. However, outside the US nobody knew about Sheila. And by 1992 B&B was just sooo big worldwide that this should have been considered somewhat more.

Major THANK YOU to our benefactor. It is indeed a dream come true to have the chance to (re)watch these episodes... I'm currently at #1382. Lauren Fenmore has arrived in Los Angeles and Sheila's wonderful new life in L.A. is about to crash and burn. But hey, she just started therapy with Dr. Garvin who - while still a live - is not yet having his own office and offering consultations in Taylor's office and the Forrester Creations infirmary. Highly unusual for the early 1990s, but so common for soaps in 2021 where few people have their own set. LOL For those who reached this far or further: what's your assessment on the show tackling Sheila's backstory? I'm kind of torn. While Sheila is a fascinating character (her two-sided relationships with JUDY, Brooke and Taylor) and Kim Brown is playing all the beats to it, I don't think B&B viewers were given a proper introduction to Sheila's story on Y&R. The first flashbacks just started, but I think this is little to little (and late) if you NEVER knew Sheila before. Nowadays we know all that is coming and have seen the Y&R baby switch backstory (if only in flashbacks). The few references to Y&R in those first 4 months of Sheila's life in L.A. were too vague and ambigous to paint the full picture, IMO. However, I just realized that if Brad Bell gets his act together: KImberlin Brown will celebrated her 30th anniversary on B&B this May! She was gone for many years in between but this is still a HIGHLY unexpected milestone anniversary.

Interesting points. I always though that the show wanted THIS actor and Jeff Connaway was only willing to sign a shortterm contract as he was somewhat a "name actor". Terri Ann Linn also wanted out if remember correctly. That's why Mick&Kristen didn't go any further and left rather abruptly in January 1990.

Y&R January 2022 Discussion Thread
I liked the storyline mostly due to acting of Ricky Paull and Heather Tom. I admit that Gary's boss (?) Ross as the red hearing, scapegoat culprit, was pretty transparent and it was a rather luke-warm surprise when it turned out to be Gary. If I recall right, the inital builup with the magazine shrine wall of Vickie's centerfold being shown in a lot of episodes with some spooky music was cool.

Y&R January 2022 Discussion Thread
Hahaha - Vickie sure had a biiiiig mouth back then. I also remember the show to tackle the serious angst and psychological issues Victoria was suffering from due to Gary's stalking and the tree house finale. However, she in my memory also saved before things got REALLY bad. Was it Cole who rescued her? I can't remember.

Dan McVicar sure was fantastic in his inital run. He also had chemistry with ALL the woman he was paired or sparred with. That's why it is kinda sad that his 1996 amounted to nothing after the Unicorn Fashions storyline. The closest he then came to a storyline was being Morgan's sidekick in 2000. Therefore it was rather surprising that the show used Clarke for someof the Jackie M stuff even though he was poor man's copy of his former self then.

Just my two cents. Wait for the arrival of Mick Savage; this is when Kristen started to loose her appeal. She was written off in January 1990 - and definitely NOT missed. Her return in 1992 didn't make me love the character again. The chemistry with Clarke was still there, but he was written a s complete jerk back at that time (played compellingly by Dan McVicar). However, Kristen acted rather wishy-washy with him, sometimes calling him out on his BS and then keeping silent about it. Her subesequent returns in 1993 and 1994 were only for weddings if I recall. The 2001 return was a complete waste of time because Kristen & Tony were just an ill-plotted storyline which could have been good.

Y&R and B&B Early 2022 spoilers
LOL - I think the closest to Chloe's backstory where flashbacks to Esther giving birth. However, the plumber might have been mentioned early in Chloe's story.

Y&R and B&B Early 2022 spoilers
Egan was okay and fresh in the beginning, but as a matter of fact the actress playing Skye was always much better. It’s a travesty that Chelsea is kept on this show. At least Chloe - another deadweight character - is Esther’s daughter and therefore one of the few ties to actual legacy on Y&R.

Bold & Beautiful - December 2021 Episode Counts and Year End Stats
For B&B this has been a pretty balanced year. Liam is relatively low in the totals, John McCook and Rena Sofer has way more action than to be expected. And of course: Sheila, Deacon, Taylor all back is a stroke of genius. EDIT: is wouldn’t mind for Wyatt to get the axe… Don Diamont and Heather Tom surely had their contracts renegotiated. There’s no way that they still got pay for 2 eps a week and barely appeared in 60 episodes the whole year. They should stay around on this lower capacity, though, cause there is now way for either of them to return to Y&R.

Y&R and B&B Early 2022 spoilers
Wow - Y&R sounds like photo descriptions in an exhibition but not teasers to make you want to watch. At all. Why is Chelsea still on this show? as for B&B: it all sounds really promising. Depending on the execution this could get REALLY good actually. Seems like they are well prepared for Jacqui Woods next maternity leave.

2021: The Directors and Writers Thread
Didn’t Sally McDonald start working in television in the early/mid 80s? Therefore it seems not that far off to assume that she has retired. Unfortunately. that leaves Noel Maxam as the only great active Y&R director, even though he has moveD on to DAYS an eternity ago

Any Capitol Fans Here?
The hair style is kinda blah, but JESS WALTON is great as usual. It's probably the first time I've seen her on CAPITAL. Any scenes with Kimberlin Brown on this show out there?
