i have to disagree. I think NLG is a daytime superstar who excels whether the writing is good or bad and who has been great on every show she’s appeared on. Supporting? No. I think she’s a lead. I also think she’s earned this special episode.

William Lipton needs a director. Period. He has talent and he’s done good work — and I think that’s been delivered to him too many times. Now he’s either trying too hard to be an ACTOR or thinks more (that walk, those scrunched up faces) is always better. The past couple weeks have been a “WTF is that???” for me, and the producers at GH are doing that kid no favors.

i have to agree. Lipton was bad. He’s now scrunching up his face to portray any intense emotion, whether it’s anger or sadness or frustration. It is just awful, and apparently there isn’t a director in sight to stop it. This kind of acting can derail his career if it continues, I know that much.

I can barely tolerate the Susan/Kristen stuff. It’s not just bad, it’s really annoying. Both characters need to go away for a long rest. When did Jay Kenneth Johnson stop working out? Damn, that tank top look was not good. He looks much better in clothes.

They’ll send Faith off to boarding school and the bullying won’t even be addressed. We‘ll never see Jordan again, even though we’ve seen her so little it’s ridiculous. It’s more terrible writing from a guy who cannot tell stories.

I love Sharon Case, but she is playing Sharon as if she feels no deep love for Rey There’s cernothing there approaching a fear of losing her soulmate. To me, Sharon’s concern comes off as what you’d feel for a friend. There’s just something missing. Yes, I realize Sharon’s heart is with Adam, but I still feel kind of shocked at the way SC is playing this.

Agree with everyone here about Ainsworth. She just doesn’t cut it as adult Kristina. Have to disagree about the song William Lipton sang. I understand not romanticizing deeply flawed characters, but Cam didn’t see Franco that way. The song showed how Cam felt about the loss. Good song, heartfelt lyrics, emotional performance. I usually dislike full songs on soaps, but I thought this worked really well. Nina finding Sonny....I just can’t accept anything about this storyline. When you have to pretend the internet doesn’t exist, the story is a joke.

Ridiculous. With only 4 soaps left, they should stop giving this award.

Nope. Not one. Michael Damian reads as gay, and couldn’t hide from that. Neither can CLB, in my opinion. I think Greg Rikaart was a great gay on Days as Leo, but I think he can pass as straight as Kevin on YR.

I’d also point out the obvious that while the show is willing to have a lesbian couple on the show (even though they’re rarely seen doing much together), it’s a no-go when it comes to two gay men in a committed relationship. Y&R is so afraid of 75 year old Evangelical women freaking out that they won’t go NEAR it. Hell, they won’t go near adding ANY gay male to the show. And yes, since it’s center is the fashion industry, B&B is worse.

I definitely feel for Scott Clifton. Anyone who’s seen his Twitter knows what a good guy he is — principled, intelligent, compassionate. He also knows what viewers think of Liam, and I get the feeling he’d like to punch Liam out as much as we do. in this economy, though, and with the state of daytime, no actor — not even a lead — is going to throw his weight around and make story demands. It’s just not going to happen, and I certainly don’t blame Clifton for keeping his mouth shut, playing a huge jerk, and taking the paycheck.

Excellent post that says it all. Your story idea is ok, but I’d never give it to Lily — and I’d expect CK to be horrified at playing it. It’s just that the story would severely harm what the audience thinks of one of the show’s heroines, and that’s never going to happen. I don’t think a daytime soap is built for a long-term character leading that storyline. And yes, I do realize Lily likes white men. I also agree that’s awkward and not a good look when she’s had multiple relationships. However, a woman of color dating white guys is not racist. It just isn’t. I have a much bigger concern about Y&R islanding black characters. And no, Devon’s sperm in a white girl is not something to be happy about.

And all Liam had to do to make Hope happy was to act excited that the baby wasn’t his. The POS couldn’t even do that. He talked about his LOSS, for God’s sake. I wanted to throw up. Scott Clifton should sue the writers.

Thank YOU. I agree with all of that. Letting the over 80 white women decide what’s ok to write about is why the ratings continue to fall and why the show is worse and worse. Primetime networks are covering this stuff. Streamers go even further and grittier. It all makes daytime seem further out of touch. And no, white Abby having Devon’s baby doesn’t cover race. Soap writing is so fear-driven it’s unreal. They don’t realize that this move to offend nobody is so offensive it’s unreal.

The new set is nice, but I think it’s a little busy. Just too much furniture, honestly.

Yeah, you tell us about twice a week that you stopped watching the show long ago. Thank U, Next. I don’t expect everyone to find Grossman attractive or particularly attractive. I just question the need to post that he’s NOT on message boards. I understand soap conceits. If Traci doled out her homespun wisdom to Abby, or to brother Jack and sister Ashley, I wouldn’t have commented. That’s a la Alice Horton giving her kids some wisdom. But relationship advice to Lilly? Just because Lilly dates Billy? It just seemed off to me, and forced. Yeah, I get it. Lilly has no one else to talk to. Oh, wait — doesn’t she have a brother she could share relationship troubles with? I’m not connecting with her either. In no way does she read as someone Ashland Locke would marry. It’s almost like I’m watching a battered wife who’s always looking over her shoulder to see if her husband is coming after her.

All of a sudden, this show looks like a complete mess. Too many people held at gunpoint, too may rapes, too much amnesia, too many masks, too many identity switches....I could go on. Just WTF.

I hate to criticize William Lipton because I like him, and I know just about everyone likes him and his portrayal of Cam. But I have to say it. He was a little extra in those scenes with Xander. I wouldn’t call it bad, but it was just too much in spots. I really think he has potential, but he needs a director or a coach to reign him in. His desire to be good is clear, and he never phones it in, but this over-emoting here and in the crying scenes over Franco’s death is too much for television where less is often more. Social media screaming “GIVE HIM THE EMMY” after every dramatic scene does him no good. This type of acting is not going to get him prime time or movies, if that’s what he’s after.

Only on soap boards will you find multiple comments that an actor like Mark Grossman isn’t good looking or well built. Unbelievable. I like Traci, too, and Beth Maitland is always good. However. Listening to Traci dispense relationship advice makes me roll my eyes. She’s hardly the one with all this experience in personal relationships and staying in love. Yeah, I know, she understands people. It’s still an eye roller.

I love it that on soaps there’s NEVER an extra bedroom when someone sleeps over. It’s always “You can sleep on the couch.” These people are all too poor to have a guest bedroom.

i fully agree. Do daytime directors EVER give notes to actors? Do the EVER tell them ANYTHING? Wes Ramsey’s choices have been strange and ridiculous and all over the place, and apparently no one tells him anything. GH is guilty of this, and so are the other soaps.

The pacing is worse than ever because they’re probably blocking the actors as to their COVID-19 testing. So they test a bunch of actors in one or two storylines and get a week’s worth of episodes, then bring in another group for testing and story. It might save money and time, but it hurts the show a lot. The murder has left my mind already. Kristen/Susan need a rest. I know people love SH, but I’m to the point of getting annoyed with both of her characters. nuClaire is terrible. She’s NOTHING like the Claire we knew. Not a thing. Either the actress can’t play the real Claire, never saw any tapes of the real Claire, or is getting no direction from production who cares only about getting a ton of shows in the can per week.

Yep. I can see delaying it for ONE SEGMENT. But the entire effing show??? No way. No person in this universe would do that. Horrendously stupid.

Burgi’s styling is fine, but I agree with you about the generic dialogue. No sense of personality at all. What is the name of this company anyway. Who the frick calls their company Siaxories or whatever the eff it is? I honestly can’t make out what they’re saying or what it’s supposed to stand for.
