Day of Days 2023
If they completely destroy that set, it would be such a slap in the face of long-time fans. I've been mostly tuned out the past year. I only went back to watch some of the Victor's death episodes. DAYS has always been a little nuts, especially since JER, but it just feels like DAYS bad fan-fiction now.

B&B October 2023 Discussion Thread
As soon as I saw Liam on my screen Friday, I thought..."Oh, crap. He's back." The character has become SOOO unrootable.

I agree. All the Newman stuff feels like "been there, done that" about ten times. Victoria/Nate is the only part I am remotely interested in.

Who is Liam going to talk to in circles about how Steffy is his true love or the fact that Hope kissed Thomas?

Bold actor out
Not a surprise. The show is so hyper-focused on a handful of characters there's no room for half the cast to do anything.

I'm liking Li being in all bitch mode. I mean, you can't blame her for hating Sheila. Sheila tried to kill her son! I still wish they'd hook her up with Bill.

This would have a made A LOT more sense that what we did get for the story.

This would make a lot more sense versus "my sister has an affair while working in the gift shop."

B&B October 2023 Discussion Thread
I think I'm still stunned that we actually got THREE storylines in one episode today: Hope & Thomas' toxic mess, RJ/Luna/Li, and the whole head scratching Deacon/Sheila thing. We've been getting episodes with at least two stories for a good bit of the writer's strike. It makes the show SO MUCH better to watch because if you're not into one story, there's still others being featured. I don't why the show can be structured like this every episode. My fear is that when BB's material starts airing again since the strike is done, we'll go back to one storyline at a time that dominates every minute of every episode and usually has to do with Steffy/Hope/Liam with Ridge and Brooke thrown in. I cringe at just the thought of all those episodes that were just Liam and Wyatt repeating the same exact dialogue in that office over and over again.

Most successful soap returns
If I'm not mistaken, this is when the 88 writer's strike happened just as Harding Lemay was getting started again. I would have loved to see what he would have done long-term. Although I believe, not sure if it's confirmed, that a lot of Donna Swajeski's material at the beginning was based on long-story already written by Lemay.

Y&R October 2023 Discussion Thread
I feel like we've seen Nick and Adam fighting over the same woman waaay too many times. It would have been so much more interesting if it had been a Nick/Sally/NOAH triangle. I feel like Rory Gibson (not to mention the character of Allie) was never given a real chance. I think they keep trying to do "younger" stories with Nick and not letting the character mature, so there's not much of a place for Noah.

It still mystifies me why they let Rena go from B&B. The storyline with Carter was one of the most interesting one the show had done in years IMO. I really like the actress that plays Li. So, I hope this means we'll keep seeing more of her. I don't know why the show dropped the potential story of her and Bill becoming an item.

The Abbotts are far more interesting to me. The Newman drama feels like we've seen it a thousand times. Everyone complaining about Adam, for example. Nate and Victoria are the only somewhat interesting part to me, and that's entirely because of Nate. The whole Nick/Sally/Adam is a snoozefest for me which is a shame since I like CH, but she's gotten saddled by this story.

Yeah, there definitely is some sort of twist coming with Claire. I'm kind of not minding her as a new character and most Newman-focused shows I FF through.

Yeah, the whole "secret" just doesn't make any sense. Why would Li feel this passionately about Luna working at Forrester?
-

Yeah, that was pretty anti-climatic. The big secret is Li doesn't like her sister?! I was expecting something WAY bigger than that.

I was hoping Elena would take a turn to the dark side, too. She could have become obsessed with destroying Nate and Victoria AND winning back Devon by breaking up his relationship with Abby. But, it looks like the character will just fade away.

I have to admit to being SLIGHTLY intrigued as to what is Luna's backstory.

People are ALWAYS drinking on this show. The only time it's not alcohol is when they're drinking coffee at Crimson Lights.

I like that there's another twist to this story. I can't imagine at this point who she could be in cahoots with.

Y&R October 2023 Discussion Thread
I'm all about a Mamie/Jill story. I hope the writers really milk it. I hope they keep Mamie on at least recurring in the future. She fills the old-school matriarch position that the show is missing for me. I love how she told Lily, Nate, and Devon how things were going to be. I wish we could have Jill full-time again. Whenever she's on, it feels like classic Y&R for me.

BOLD: Hope/Deacon/Sheila SPOILER
I really like CH as an actress, but I feel like this Nick/Adam triangle has not done the character of Sally any favors at all. They're FF scenes for me.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
I believe the Dobsons actually lived in Santa Barbara at one point before the show, and that's how they knew Dame Judith Anderson, who also lived there. I've been to Santa Barbara numerous times on day trips from Los Angeles. The city is surprisingly small. It feels like a mix of old money and college students from the university. LOTS of college kids. Interesting tidbits... There are no drive thrus. They're banned. No super tall buildings. I think it's three or four floors max. Signage for businesses is very small as there are maximums on the size allowed. It has one main commercial street...State Street. Red tile roofs are mandated for many buildings. It is a very beautiful and picturesque city for sure.
