  1. I agree 100%. She may have insisted to the one year contract, but it certainly didn't help The City when it lost its star. On another note, I believe Kate was supposed to have had eight children. How many of them did we actually meet? Who were Allie's parents?
  2. I think it would have worked even bringing Morgan Fairchild's character to Corinth. She could have bought the Alden mansion!
  3. I would have LOVED to see what the Dobsons would have done with Another World!
  4. I'm curious as to what some of you think of this idea. Since the serial killer storyline was so successful and boosted the ratings, do you think Brown and Essensten may have been better off staying in Corinth and repopulating the show with new characters in addition to the ones they kept versus spinning them off into The City. I'm just wondering if they lost some momentum by starting a "new" show.
  5. Any current Hollyoaks viewers? I'm pretty hooked. I love how the show takes daring storyline risks and has such a variety of characters. I wish US soaps could figure out how to do the same!
  6. I wonder how far along the proposed Marlena spinoff from DAYS made it along in development. I think the current DAYS version is ripe for a spin-off with more episodes versus Beyond Salem. It would be great to see a version that took riskier storyline routes and was more adult...and maybe not so much Si-Fi that we get now. They could pull at Port Charles and even use some of the same sets. And the FOX audience would have been a better fit for Sunset Beach, too. Fox probably would have given the show more time to grow and find its footing, too.
  7. Exactly! Fleshing out her backstory and telling us where she came from would go a long ways in also making her sympathetic. She strikes me as the type of character who came up with little money and has fought tooth and nail to get where she is today.
  8. EB must still have a pretty high guarantee with that number of appearances because all he's really done this year is scroll through his phone and wag a finger at his kids.
  9. I really wish this show could figure out how to do at least two stories an episode. I'm not opposed to all the drama about "kiss-gate" but entire episodes for days and days are taken up with this one single story. All of a sudden, it's ALL anyone who is shown can talk about. And, it's not the time limit of a 30 minute show. Many half-hour shows, including B&B, used to have 2 and sometimes 3 storylines featured in an episode. If I don't like the one story that's happening, I just tune out. I keep waiting for the show to realize what a find they have with LSV and give him storylines worthy of his talents. The show could have developed more of a true triangle with Carter, Katie, and Bill even. You could have Quinn come back wanting to reunite with Carter, too. Those two had smoking hot chemistry. It's still perplexing they let RS go. Add Eric and Donna to the mix and you have another story you can pivot to. And where is Zende? I'm not a Paris fan. She's always been a very flat character to me, but the actor that plays Zende is hot as hell. Surely, they can do something more with him...a model at Forrester who wants to land him and his $$$ maybe and has an agenda. I'm not sure what they have planned for RJ. There's really nothing for him to do. It'd be great to see a group of young and hungry interns, AND not all rich ones, at Forrester. So much story could be mined from that. Maybe...finally...show a gay character! It's always been nuts that this fashion house has zero gay employees or no Latin characters even though the show takes place in LA which is over 50% Latino. What are the odds of no gay or Latin employee at Forrester really??? Perhaps Will returns, comes out of the closet, and wants to work with Forrester. Bill would hit the roof! Maybe even have a couple of characters who do the not so glamorous part of work at Forrester...those people who work in the basement where Thorne used to be and are eager to improve their lot in life...sort of an "upstairs/downstairs." So much conflict could be written from that and would make Forrester Creations more of a complete world for the viewer. The show really needs a shake-up...and focus on more than one story. We've seen Brooke/RIdge/Taylor and Steffy/Liam/Hope/Thomas so many times it could be the same scripts from years ago, and people play musical chairs with spouses so often none of the stories carry any weight. It might be a controversial opinion, but to shake things up, I would kill Ridge off. This would finally free Taylor and Brooke of his baggage, and then you'd have a true shake-up at Forrester. Maybe Felicia's trouble-making son arrives....OR Jack, the child that is biologically Brooke's but was given birth to by Taylor! Talk about a conflict! He'd make a great rival for RJ. and could have some Johnathan from GL vibes about him. He could be super pissed at both Brooke and Taylor for neither one of them stepping up to be a mom and wanting both of them to pay for it. I know as a 30 minute show we can't have a HUGE cast, but only what...10 people get regularly used. The show could easily do a cast of 25 characters (maybe some recurring for budget) to give us some much needed variety in characters AND storylines. Just my two-cents.
  10. Exactly! We rarely see anyone working, so we don't care about the musical chair CEOs.
  11. ITA about all the business storylines. There are so many vague companies that are constantly talked about in coffeehouses and restaurants, and to be honest, I couldn't care less who's the CEO at Chancellor-Winters-Marchetti-McCall-Kirsten-Newman this week or who it will be next week. At this rate, Esther will be starting her own multi-million-dollar mystery company soon, Valentine Inc! It's puzzling to me that the writers think this non-stop talking about corporate takeovers qualifies as interesting conflicts to their target viewers. I just can't imagine how many viewers are on the edge of their seat about who's going to buy McCall Unlimited. Snooze. The Jabot stuff was interesting in the 80s and 90s because we often saw people at work. We knew what the company did, and it was the scene for inter-family conflict. And, it was ONE company. Hell, at this point, you need a scorecard to keep track of who's working at what vague company this week. The show really needs to get out of the board room and back into the bedroom, so to speak. Not to mention, we need some more young, well-developed character and also restless ones as well (people who aren't already rich and are trying to improve their lot in life) to balance out the canvas. I would rest both Billy and Adam. Both don't really to have much of a purpose right now, and it would free up $$$ to hire some fresh non-Abbott or Newman characters. The two families are so intertwined at this point, they're basically one. How many times can an Abbott marry a Newman? I was disappointed though that the show dropped Allie so soon and never really developed her character. It was nice to see some more diversity on the show finally. The show made her too much a goody-goody. It would have been great to find out that she has a deep, dark secret as well. I think the real MVPs right now are Susan Walters and Zuleyka Silver. The return of Diane injected some much needed energy in the show, and SW plays her so well. Diane may be "redeemed" but you can still see the spark of the bad girl in her eyes as she still manages to more, low-key stir up trouble. ZS really takes the sometimes ho-hum material she gets and shines into gold. I love how she stirs the pot and is so focused on what she wants in life and will use anyone in her orbit to get it. When Audra told Kyle that she "loves pretty things" ZS managed to use that line to say so much about her character. The show would be wise to use her even more and bigger. Maybe develop a family around her which would also give us more insight on who she is and why she does the things she does and mix up the canvas more...which it needs badly!
