B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Didn't Vinny pull a Sheila with Hayes paternity test.... Within 2 weeks of JMW's return from leave, 'Finn' will never be mentioned again. Who'll say it first? 'I knew in my heart Hayes was ours.' OR Bill: 'I knew he was a Spencer.' Liam is a downer for Steffy - Bill, Carter, Rick all would be more interesting matches. Even a Brooke/Bill/Steffy triangle, which would just be so messy and hilarious. In a strange way, it would get pretty much everyone on canvas involved in some manner.

I fully expect this scene to be repeated multiple tiems: Liam holds Steffy's comatose hand while Hope comforts Thomas in the background.

ARTICLE: CBS Lineup to Be Preempted Again for More ‘UEFA Champions League’ Games
Weren't the first batch of ratings for soccer poor - not just for CBS, but Daytime generally? If so, I wonder what CBS' ultimate strategy is here unless they severally overestimated interest.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
The irony, of course, is that Sheila does generate a lot of interest in the show both from fans/haters. And, that's exactly the reason why she needs to be around, except not in a murderous role. Sheila isn't some rich character - ala Kristen (DAYS) that has unlimited resources to get out of every criminal act. I've said it dozens of times, but with solid writing, the show really needs characters who aren't Forrester/Spencer to stir stuff up. Shelia/Deacon are perfect to fill that need. Steffy's injury didn't need to be a gunshot - it could've been an accident like slipping and hitting her head on a dumpster. Whatever. It's done. Let's see how B&B plays it out. The Brooke out-of-nowhere alcoholism story was really hyped - basically Brad saying it was Emmy material for her. It was a huge flop that was abruptly terminated, but in the wrong way. Many people go through brief periods where they have an issue with alcohol - it's doesn't make them an alcoholic. Instead, Brooke should've had a moment of clarity: 'Why am I doing this? All because I don't have a man? Please. I'm Brooke F-ing Logan - it won't be long before I open my 'heart' to someone. Right, Stephanie?!'

REPORT: B&B: Star Out!
The irony, of course, is Sheila stole Scott so there's that additional angle.

REPORT: B&B: Star Out!
While Finn was no great shakes, it certainly was refreshing to have Steffy connected to fresh blood. I suppose this gives them the out if the fan outrage is strong - just bring him back on. What's more confusing are the spoilers that say Sheila and Li fight over 'who's Finn's mother' and that 'Sheila gets her dream.' If that's the case, that implies B&B will show us 2 universes - the 2020 'reality' and the one in JMW's mind? That'd be simply bizarre and pointless. Who knows? Maybe they can pull it off.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
The tough part about time changes with soaps is that unless you do a completely different era (aka Dark Shadows), it just doesn't sustain for the regular viewer. DAYS really showed just how challenging that was. I'm not even sure how B&B effective shows that it reverted back in a way that's meaningful. B&B burns through stuff that I can't really remember much of what happened a few months ago. If B&B didn't constantly recycle the same triangles, it'd be a lot more interesting and noticeable. So you don't watch for 3 months and return to Steffy/Liam/Hope - looks normal to me!

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
@Soapsuds OMG - that's the only version of the Keith Sweat song I dig! I can't believe you posted it. If I were B&B, I'd start rewriting this ASAP - they did a dream with Sheila before - when Lauren was in town and Sheila was supposed to be the 'showcase' model or something. Sheila got in an accident and those episodes were really a dream. 2022: Steffy actually knocked Sheila into the dumpster, she's in a coma and it's revealed when JMW returns from leave. Open with Steffy at Sheila's bedside 'Sheila, please wake up for Finn and Hayden! For the sake of OUR family!' NOW that would be a twist worth watching. I just made this up as I was writing the reply so I haven't really thought it through.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Shelia shot both? How stupid is that? Have Steffy fall and hit her head on one of those trash containers or the sidewalk. I suppose Sheila donates an organ/bone marrow and the family keeps it secret is the only way back. Worse, I don't buy for a second that Sheila would try to kill the mother of her grandchild. This isn't a twist - it's twisted - and not in a good way.

Y&R April 2022 Discussion Thread
Bringing Diane back serves as an odd reminder of her pivotal role on the show going back 40 years. Wasn't the Diane/Jack affair the start of Patty's mental breakdown? It's sometimes hard to believe the character goes back that far, which made the MW's recasting/disaster such a slap. SW has always been a solid actor. I'm glad the writers decided to take Phyllis on a different course - it'll play so much better if they actually follow through.

A better twist: Steffy deciding to team up with Sheila to get Brooke out of Ridge's life forever instead of sounding like a hypocrite. That alliance would've had some real impact when revealed - Taylor, Ridge, Eric, Hope, Liam, Finn, etc. That would also align with Steffy's real feelings about Brooke + Taylor/Ridge. Give us a full-out Steffy v Brooke. It worked a generation ago - and Brooke certainly isn't the same Beta to Stephanie's Alpha now so that could add some real depths and twists to the rivalry.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
B&B the spoilers indicate Sheila and Li have it out over who's Finn's mother. After Finn/Sheila copied Stefan/Vivian nonsense, Finn must not remember. Obviously, Steffy witnessed it - so the only plausible way is Steffy somehow ends up in the rumored coma for her leave. If Sheila finally gets her 'dream' - it's being a mother to Finn. If that the big game-changing twist, B&B needs a dictionary.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
What's interesting is that Friday's episode was scheduled to air on Wednesday, which means if this IS part of the 'shocking twist that will rock daytime television' that reveal should air on Tuesday (org. Fri.) or Wed (or Mon). So far B&B is really missing the mark - if they'd asked any loyal fan they'd 'shoot' this story down in a second. JMW's leave? Send her to Paris and suddenly Sheila and Taylor/Ridge help Finn raise Hayes. Sheila/Deacon/Brooke/Ridge/Taylor merry-go-round, of course. I do get the sense that KB while accurate in her answer did not indicate 'when.'

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Some how speculated that was the big twist. Don't see: not a game-changer and definitely not a daytime first - exactly the same as DAYS - Vivian shooting her son as he dives across the screen. I honestly don't get why they completely waste KB. This was potentially her most viable stint and one that could've lasted for some time. It'd be far more interesting keeping Sheila as a pot-stirrer rather than a felon. Big deal she switched the bottles - that's not a 'gun-worthy' reveal. Anyway, Brooke's alcoholism was an out-of-nowhere story that got cut short because was DOA. Brooke had like four weeks of heavy drinking and suddenly she's an alcoholic - unlike, say, Eric, who must have his daily after-office drinks.

Y&R and B&B March 2022 spoilers
Yeah, the Steffy in a coma is a popular theory, but how is that groundbreaking? What's the point of erasing nearly 2 years of story? I get JMW is going on leave, but just put her in a coma again. Is this when Sally was on her way to Y&R? The irony is that B&B would likely redo nearly every story all over again - Carter/Quinn, psycho Thomas, etc. B&B is already repetitive enough!

Y&R and B&B March 2022 spoilers
Definitely hype. And the Maya story was a gimmick without a purpose. Worse, B&B not only finally figured out what to do with Maya after languishing in the background, but also managed to a lead female POC. It was all undone in a matter of weeks with no real fallout except boxing in Rick/Maya permanently. The Ridge/C2/Rick/Maya scenes were fantastic - they should've focused on expanding that story. At least the 'never been done before' eliminates cloning, aliens, time jumps (past/present), body switching, afterlife, etc. Unless Sheila carried Ridge/Taylor's biological child (Finn) - something no one would want to watch - there's not much left that's novel on daytime that could even be plausible on B&B. Even the Steffy has really been Phoebe - so what? There's no long-term storyline in having JMW play dual roles. B&B is not DAYS or, even GH. Sensationalism simply doesn't fit the established structure of the show. B&B is doing quite well - no clue why they feel they need a stunt.

What would your major B&B twist be?
B&B is one of the most limited soaps I've ever watched. They do triangles and, excel at remotes, but pretty much fail at everything else. It has to be the only soap that has never been able to do a real murder mystery. - except for the Aussie illogically screaming 'It was MUH-DAH!' with the horrible Ally exit. B&B hypes up stories - Myron, Brooke's alcoholism, Spectra Designs return, etc. - but always end up retooling in incredibly short order. The only 'shocking' story that really resonated with the baby switch. B&B shouldn't bother with this kind of hype, they don't need it - the ratings are incredibly consistent and I'm sure international sales are probably still OK.

YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Glad they are showing the Diane/Phyllis stuff. At one point, PB even commented that the real chemistry was between MS/SW. If they go the 'fake death plan' between Diane/Adam, I wonder if they'll recreate some sort of flashback since, well, you know. Gosh, let's hope this kick-starts some action on Y&R.
-
YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Exactly. Worst story, logic and execution. I actually preferred Cane being Jill's son. It was also a huge slap to on-screen history as well as the whole premise of why he did it. Diane's resurrection isn't even in the same league - especially since Diane was planning on faking her death. It really doesn't matter. At least SW is a solid actor and has great chemistry will a lot of actors still on canvas.
-
YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Another possibility is that Kyle was aware Diane was alive, but kept it secret knowing how many people really wanted her dead. It would be a far better twist and certainly cause a ton of friction with Jack and Summer. It'll be boring if they bring back Kyle just so he can cry and rant on his mom for two weeks and then disappear.
-
YR actress returns (spoiler!!!)
Um, compared to Philip's 'death' and resurrection - this is nothing! Y'all act like Y&R hasn't done this stuff before. Anyway, SW was solid as Diane. Killing off the character was simply idiotic. Thank goodness, MW ended up in a far better situation at GH.

Bold & Beautiful '35 Bold Years' Promo March 21-25
Bottom line: Brooke opens her very large heart whenever Destiny calls.... I'm curious: Has Brooke been the character with the most different partners on B&B? Shaming Brooke is the epitome of double-standard. If Brooke were a man, say Victor Newman, and they paraded his 'greatest loves,' no one would blink an eye.

Bold & Beautiful '35 Bold Years' Promo March 21-25
It's better they didn't do anything big for this week - already they are a day-behind the original schedule because of that one full pre-emption. I'm sure they'll be partial pre-emptions for the Supreme Court hearings this week, too. The Brooke/Bad Santa 'romance' should stay in the past. Anyway, Brooke's best pairing were Deacon and Bill.

Days of our Lives 1/31/2022 Weekly Preview Promo
Disappointing about Craig because it undermines the premise that Nancy didn't need to be a young, skinny, hot hair model to attract a man like Craig. Craig used Nancy as a cover. What a shame.

B&B Major Character Recast!
I caught the Xmas Eve episode and was amazed how KA channeled Taylor vibes. I love HT, but Taylor has been off-canvas for too long. Even with the wig, KA sold me.
