B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
That scene was incredibly well done and I'm not one into the heavy, contrived drama. JMW - being very pregnant - pulls off the changing emotions seamlessly. They could've easily defaulted to splitting the scene, but excellent choice in doing it as one long scene. Great camera work and production: KB's reactions and then the quick exchange between TK and KA before she takes over to drop the bomb on Steffy.

When Finn eventually becomes 'undead' like Taylor, Macy and, of course, Sheila, will Steffy and Finn keep the secret? Unless I missed something, isn't that what happened after it was revealed Taylor shot $B? Could Sheila saving Taylor's life become the driving force to strike such a deal? Bonus good deed: thanks to Sheila, Brooke is out of Ridge's life. Taylor: 'Steffy, Finn, look at all the good Sheila has done for our FAMILY! As LA's top shrink to the rich and famous, Sheila's been working so hard to change. It should be expected there will be bullets, I mean, bumps on the road to recovery. Let's move on.'

It's also odd that Sheila's other children aren't in play yet. If the goal was to have Sheila be the non-criminal pot-stirrer, wouldn't it make sense to bring back at least one of Sheila's kids? It would also open up the canvas a little more.

Eh, Gwen was lashing out. It won't matter when we discover the Devil resurrected Laura as a 'thank you' for her evil work in destroying Gwen's mother and cheating Gwen out of a happy childhood. As far as Gwen not being redeemable - Ben says 👋

@Gray Bunny That's actually one of the few clever storyline angles in this mess - Bridget has been in town for a while and has secrets she's been keeping - that is, of course, if Brad decides to utilize the wonderful AJ. Perhaps, she's been reconnecting with Deacon on the low .... or hanging with $B.

I still think the better story would've been Steffy partnering with Sheila to crush Brooke in order to 'guarantee' Taylor's happiness with Ridge - like pushing Deacon to reunite with Brooke, etc. Yeah, it's way too logical and there real motivation - Steffy wants her parents back together and Sheila actually cares about Taylor. When JMW returned, they could've revealed it, which would've had some real drama that would involve most of the canvas - Finn, Hope, Eric, Quinn, Thomas, Liam, etc. At that point, would Ridge have fallen completely back in love with Taylor? Maybe Brooke's feelings for Deacon got deeper, but Sheila actually wants Deacon, etc.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
B&B hyped their big story for weeks and it's been widely panned; while Y&R kept quiet about Diane's return until days before and it seems to be a winner with fans. Go figure - a character that was killed 10 years with a recast, returns on canvas and works, while B&B invested a lot of promo and it's a bomb - so far.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
Can someone enlighten me on what the so-called never been done before or whatever twist was? Or is it still to be revealed? Instead of the ridiculous coma scenes, they couldn't film scenes with Rick in Paris in an independent story. For example, Steffy and Rick plotting to bring someone down. A independent story that wouldn't be contingent on much else happening.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
Because just sending Steffy to the Paris office for a few weeks during her leave *simply* wouldn't have worked. Having Steffy revert to thinking she's still married to Liam is so pathetic. How about Steffy waking up and thinking she's married to $Bill? Or Rick? Are fans really clamoring for Steffy/Liam/Hope triangle? I doubt it. B&B's HOT Summer Previews: - When Steffy's recovery faces a yet another MAJOR set-back, Hope finds comfort in someone *unexpected* (Thomas) - Carter, Paris, Zende and Quinn welcome Steffy and Liam home during their one June episode. - Steffy places a MYSTERIOUS call to Genoa City. - $Bill discovers Steffy's been faking it as part of her revenge plot to nail Sheila. $Bill tells Steffy to forget about that psycho Sheila and focus on keeping her reunited family again. - Flo and Wyatt check in on Steffy/Liam during their one July episode. - After Hayes suffers a MAJOR health crisis, Steffy must turn to the only person who can save him (Sheila). - After finding common ground, Sheila and Steffy celebrate with a bottle of champagne. - Brooke's epic search for the dark forces leads her to open her very big heart again.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
I think the context for a PSA is a factor here - Sheila shot her own son to cover-up other crimes - so there's not emotional connection with a large part of the audience. Most likely assumed Sheila was using it as a ploy to trick Taylor. On the other hand, if Hope were despondent after she 'lost' her baby, got depressed, etc. and was on that ledge, that would be considerably different. Let's face it: Brad has really botched this story starting from the label swap. It's been a complete disaster. They'd be better off waking Steffy from a coma when JMW returns from leave, make it a dream and wipe it away. No one will care or remember since B&B will be back to 'normal' in 5 episodes and never mention it again. If they didn't want the actor who plays FInn around, recast, or have him leave Steffy.

Roles that Cannot be Recast
I never imagined roles like Opal (AMC), Ridge and Taylor (B&B) or Jack, Jill and Ashley (Y&R) would be recast successfully, but they were. And all were played by actors extremely identified with those roles. Eileen Fulton (ATWT) proved that Lisa belong to her. The recast was positively dreadful, but that may have been intentional to get her back! KKL (B&B) and Sharon Case (Y&R) wouldn't be worth a recast because the roles, which have many similarities, have only succeeded because of the actors.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
Brad says: The REAL twist - Zende is Sheila's son. That's far too extreme for B&B! The show does have some limits! I've never really forgiven the show for ruining Maya right after they finally figured out what to do with her after languishing for years. Scheming Maya/Rick were fantastic. That and letting RE simply vanish - Nicole had so much promise.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
So Brad has pushed Sheila into major screentime with some really interesting dramatic scenes, but after what Sheila did, it really a bad watch because: 1) no mystery - we saw what happened; and 2) it's just a matter of time before she's exposed. If Brad wanted Sheila to be front and center and salvageable, he could've done this: 1) Steffy grabs the gun and it accidentally goes off shooting Finn; 2) Steffy in her shock at what happened, slips hits her head on the dumpster; 3) Sheila does the same thing - cleans it up, but instead of covering for herself, she's protecting Steffy. Now that would've at least been more twisty - Steffy killed Finn and Sheila covers for her.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
My point is that they just killed him right in the alley instead of the 'he's barely alive' and having him die in the hospital with Bridget, Ridge, Taylor, etc. Perhaps, that was intentional or B&B just wanted to begin erasing the Finn era. And if he is in a morgue, why hasn't Sheila made an attempt to go there? It's not like she hasn't broken into places before, etc. Of all the things Sheila has risked, you're telling me, she wouldn't at least TRY to see him. Li says 'no' and Sheila just accepts it? It's very odd. B&B has spent 3 months talking about New Year's Eve - you figure they could've Finn's demise span a few more episodes.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
Did anyone else find the way Li kept referring to Finn odd? And why did B&B skip any attempted revival scenes in the hospital? Then, again, Aly's 'MUH-DAH' went straight to the following morning with an announcement that she was dead. It was jarring and felt like they had skipped an episode.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
How can this be the twist that never been done on daytime before? Mother shoots and kills long-lost son while aiming at a woman - exactly what happened with Vivian and Stefan. Maybe they scrapped the novel 'twist' after mapping it out. There's zero indication of something 'more' the way it's playing out on screen. B&B of all soaps is the most literal - when something new is going to happen, they drop out-of-the blue hints during the 3-5 preceding episodes. I thought it might be Phoebe-related because her name has popped up a lot in odd ways after years of not mentioning her. So Sheila shoots her son and daughter-in-law all because of a switched label that led to Brooke UNCHARACTERISTICALLY kissing a man who's not her husband. Wow. If Brooke had gotten in a car and killed someone or something else that led to truly harmful consequences to an innocent bystander, that would've made Sheila's motivation to keep it quiet somewhat plausible. But this?

Didn't Vinny pull a Sheila with Hayes paternity test.... Within 2 weeks of JMW's return from leave, 'Finn' will never be mentioned again. Who'll say it first? 'I knew in my heart Hayes was ours.' OR Bill: 'I knew he was a Spencer.' Liam is a downer for Steffy - Bill, Carter, Rick all would be more interesting matches. Even a Brooke/Bill/Steffy triangle, which would just be so messy and hilarious. In a strange way, it would get pretty much everyone on canvas involved in some manner.

I fully expect this scene to be repeated multiple tiems: Liam holds Steffy's comatose hand while Hope comforts Thomas in the background.

ARTICLE: CBS Lineup to Be Preempted Again for More ‘UEFA Champions League’ Games
Weren't the first batch of ratings for soccer poor - not just for CBS, but Daytime generally? If so, I wonder what CBS' ultimate strategy is here unless they severally overestimated interest.

B&B April 2022 Discussion Thread
The irony, of course, is that Sheila does generate a lot of interest in the show both from fans/haters. And, that's exactly the reason why she needs to be around, except not in a murderous role. Sheila isn't some rich character - ala Kristen (DAYS) that has unlimited resources to get out of every criminal act. I've said it dozens of times, but with solid writing, the show really needs characters who aren't Forrester/Spencer to stir stuff up. Shelia/Deacon are perfect to fill that need. Steffy's injury didn't need to be a gunshot - it could've been an accident like slipping and hitting her head on a dumpster. Whatever. It's done. Let's see how B&B plays it out. The Brooke out-of-nowhere alcoholism story was really hyped - basically Brad saying it was Emmy material for her. It was a huge flop that was abruptly terminated, but in the wrong way. Many people go through brief periods where they have an issue with alcohol - it's doesn't make them an alcoholic. Instead, Brooke should've had a moment of clarity: 'Why am I doing this? All because I don't have a man? Please. I'm Brooke F-ing Logan - it won't be long before I open my 'heart' to someone. Right, Stephanie?!'

REPORT: B&B: Star Out!
The irony, of course, is Sheila stole Scott so there's that additional angle.

REPORT: B&B: Star Out!
While Finn was no great shakes, it certainly was refreshing to have Steffy connected to fresh blood. I suppose this gives them the out if the fan outrage is strong - just bring him back on. What's more confusing are the spoilers that say Sheila and Li fight over 'who's Finn's mother' and that 'Sheila gets her dream.' If that's the case, that implies B&B will show us 2 universes - the 2020 'reality' and the one in JMW's mind? That'd be simply bizarre and pointless. Who knows? Maybe they can pull it off.

Y&R and B&B April (and late March) spoilers
The tough part about time changes with soaps is that unless you do a completely different era (aka Dark Shadows), it just doesn't sustain for the regular viewer. DAYS really showed just how challenging that was. I'm not even sure how B&B effective shows that it reverted back in a way that's meaningful. B&B burns through stuff that I can't really remember much of what happened a few months ago. If B&B didn't constantly recycle the same triangles, it'd be a lot more interesting and noticeable. So you don't watch for 3 months and return to Steffy/Liam/Hope - looks normal to me!

@Soapsuds OMG - that's the only version of the Keith Sweat song I dig! I can't believe you posted it. If I were B&B, I'd start rewriting this ASAP - they did a dream with Sheila before - when Lauren was in town and Sheila was supposed to be the 'showcase' model or something. Sheila got in an accident and those episodes were really a dream. 2022: Steffy actually knocked Sheila into the dumpster, she's in a coma and it's revealed when JMW returns from leave. Open with Steffy at Sheila's bedside 'Sheila, please wake up for Finn and Hayden! For the sake of OUR family!' NOW that would be a twist worth watching. I just made this up as I was writing the reply so I haven't really thought it through.

Shelia shot both? How stupid is that? Have Steffy fall and hit her head on one of those trash containers or the sidewalk. I suppose Sheila donates an organ/bone marrow and the family keeps it secret is the only way back. Worse, I don't buy for a second that Sheila would try to kill the mother of her grandchild. This isn't a twist - it's twisted - and not in a good way.
