DAYS: October 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
The separation opens the door for Sonny using his apps freely. Will/Sonny separation should be treated equally aka Nicole/Eric. Will + Sonny should be hitting the together, cheat, makeup, cheat, counsel just like every couple on daytime.

Y&R actress clarifies status (update page 5)
MM made the decision almost a year ago. I'm sure she realized that she only has a limited window to pursue film/prime TV or a streaming series. Age matters in the business. If she was truly angry with Y&R, she'd skip the recurring and make a clean break. I only wish her the best.

Bold Promo: Thomas V Brooke
Wow. I missed that scene. ITA - AG & KKL looked good. Major props to KKL in that scene. Her facial reactions are simply perfect. Honestly, I think the only way Thomas will be viable as a male lead is a several month rest with a recast. It's not MA's fault, but there's just too many awful scenes with him that can't be separated from the actor. The irony being is that he played them so well.

Bold Promo: Thomas V Brooke
Didn't Thomas have the hots for Brooke like 10 years ago? Like he kissed her or something? Remember on B&B a 'kiss' is positively *scandalous* and the ultimate *betrayal*....

YR: 50th Anniversary Promo
It's a 20 second clip. I'm sure they'll have others. Incorporating old clips of current canvas characters has to be a big part of the promo. We'll see more with some other off-canvas characters. I suspect we saw Shemar because he will return for at least one episode during the 50th. Unlike so many other 'stars' who ignore their soap roots, SM appreciates what Y&R did for him. Just like Julianne Moore asking to be on ATWT final season. @dio I really do hope that VR returns in some capacity even if it's a one-off cameo - Lily dreams about her mother.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
Wouldn't Bill SR original reasons for disliking Brooke revolve around Caroline? Except by 1992, Caroline had died and Brooke helped Caroline during the last months. It seems SR would be grateful - as much as he could be - for Brooke being there for his beloved daughter. The narrative doesn't make a lot of sense based on what actually happened and how rarely SR + Brooke crossed paths.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
Perfect example of B&B plot device: 'Of course, I didn't call Widge back after Steffy hung up on me. He came in late when I was asleep and left early this morning before I was awake. ' Either Brooke is drinking or taking massive sleeping pills! After Steffy hijacked Ridge's phone, do we really believe Brooke wouldn't be sitting on the couch waiting for him to walk through that door? Or if she went to bed, she'd definitely confront him when he walked in. C'mon. This is just lazy for an already intolerable storyline.

ARTICLE: ‘NBC News Daily’ Crashes in Broadcast Debut
This pleases me to no end. Further proof that viewers made a conscious decision to watch Days. Fortunately, the show is still around.
-
ARTICLE: Michael Graziadei Back to ‘The Young and the Restless’
Assuming this is part of the Y&R50 short-term returns, which is good. Doubt MG would return to Y&R full-time.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
I'm not so sure. Look at the majority of the cast. I'm certain they're happy to be on a show that probably fits well with their personal lives. The fact that it's 18 minutes long, a huge international audience, fun remotes, a cast that really has no drama, etc. B&B is probably considered a pretty good gig. It's also the least likely to get cancelled. Those international sales probably help make it financially sound. I think KA's obvious happiness is probably indicative.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
Have Katie get involved with Carter. Guaranteed: Brooke will follow her 'heart' straight to Carter. That would be acceptable since Brad will never let Brooke evolve. Plus, many of us have wanted to see that pairing. Briam would absolutely turn off a big chunk of the audience. Deacon and Oliver were 'outsiders' and $B was being pushed away at the time - not great, but it's also $B. Liam is far different and would serve absolutely no greater purpose to the show.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
Exactly. And, Brooke running FC! I still don't get giving FC back after the brilliantly set-up Belief storyline. That was so well planned. Brooke evolving into Stephanie would actually be a great long-term story. B&B also should undo the Marone blood line. Blame it on Sheila (of course). Didn't all Nick's kids end up dying or being someone else's? So the only 'tie' is to Ridge, who doesn't need a half-brother. If it was only Ridge, it wouldn't be so bad, but Steffy, Thomas and their kids have no blood ties to Eric. It was a bad story and truly went against who Stephanie was.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
Oops! Typo. NM. I should just use names... Honestly, I imagine Li will vanish from the canvas. B&B is overstocked with actresses in that age group.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
B&B doesn't have a shortage of strong actresses. Add KB, NB and, if they wrote Donna like Grace (Y&R), JG. On the other hand, DD, SC and SK are the only actors who aren't elevated (or carried) by their female acting partners. But it's always been this way on B&B. Always. Flannery, Tylo, Finnegan, Down, Eakes , Franz, Finnegan, Courtney Hope, Ashley Jones, etc.

@dragonfliesThat's hilarious. KA has really impressed me - off screen. She has such a great attitude. Honestly, I suspect Krista fitting into the show so well is the reason they didn't try to keep RS.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES Moves to Peacock From NBC on September 12
Yeah, well 80% of US Household subscribe to at least 1 streaming network so I'm not sure those who are left behind are of concern to the networks/streamers. Plus, Thursday Night Football is now exclusive to Amazon Prime. (Last night's telecast was actually a Sunday Night Football Special). And TNF has a much bigger audience than DAYS. It's just the way it is. Shows like Lucifer, Manifest, Evil, Seal Team, DWTS, Orville, etc.have all made the move from OTA to streaming because that was the only way to make economically feasible.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES Moves to Peacock From NBC on September 12
LOL at yet another non-important pre-emption. Seriously, the *king* of England is not breaking news in the US. My favorite comment on TVLINE: 'Barbara says: September 9, 2022 at 11:27 AM So sorry that NBC is moving Days. Don’t have internet access so won’t be able to follow.' Somehow she was able to post without internet. lol

Y&R September 2022 Discussion Thread
I think it has more to do with the fact that soaps have lost their young audiences. Teens/College students used to watch soaps during breaks/summer. That's no longer the case. Soaps are far too vanilla to write edgy stories that would intrigue younger viewers anyway. Plus, the end goal for teens hasn't changed in 780 years of soaps:i getting married by 21 and babies, etc. Lily's the perfect example of this. Might as well bring them back after college, medical or law school and start them as younger adults.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
It tanked because that was Bradley brilliant storytelling. Rick and Maya finally had a story after years in the background. In 3 months, that was all blown to bits via Brad's PSA story. He just couldn't see how well Ridge/C2/Rick/Maya worked as couples and business rivals. Tragic.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
Sadly, Brooke following her wide-open heart is a canon for B&B. Like Taylor, smart women are completely defined by their *hearts* and not their intelligence. Since Finn arrived, at least Steffy got her brain back. Brooke should've evolved into a less-cold Stephanie who's running FC or working with $B. KKL is perfectly capable considering she has kept Brooke viable through unbelievable awful writing.

DAYS: Jason47's NBC Finale Episode Rankings Countdown: The Top 57
@JAS0N47 The daily pre-emption information is awesome. It appears the vast majority of Monday pre-emptions were *scheduled*, rather than breaking news. I wonder if DAYS had fewer full pre-emptions than the other soaps. Of course, several other episodes had some sort of partial pre-emption. At least that won't happen after Friday.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
I was going to mention that. This issue could have been solved without C2 being under the influence. She could've *owned* her desire and feeling for Thomas. That would've been a lot better for everyone. I've never understood soaps need to create victims. The fallout from these types of stories wouldn't have changed - in some cases it would've been better. Here, C2's lingering feelings for Thomas even though she was with Ridge, etc.

B&B September 2022 Discussion Thread
And all those years Thomas spent in jail paying for his crimes. Oh, wait. Yet another example of the ridiculousness of Sheila and Deacon being the only ones who should *pay* for their crimes. Thomas was turned into an awful character with no real reason why. There's never been a reason to root for him. He's a spoiled, rich man with no redeeming qualities. Brad really bungled this legacy character.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES Moves to Peacock From NBC on September 12
I predict three things will happen: 1. By early 2023, they'll start releasing a week's worth of episodes rather than daily. 2. As we get closer to summer, they'll reduce to 3-4 episodes a week, which will extend the season a couple of months. By then, the show will have adjusted to producing episodes intended to air on Peacock, not over-the-air TV (for US). 3. If #2 is successful, DAYS will be renewed at 3 episodes a week - probably with a more BS or Port Charles-like form of storytelling. Getting viewers to invest in 5 episodes a week has always been a huge challenge. I think in the 80s/90s, the average was closer to 4, but those numbers have dropped over time. A very simple way to think about it: if the average viewer went from 4 episodes a week to 3, that's a 25% drop.
