B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
I'm up to 804 in my rewatch and that's Hunter Tylo's first appearance as "Dr Hayes". The scenes are written as though Caroline and she are familiar, and there's even a hug at the end, even though it's the first time we have witnessed them in a scene together. I have to wonder since Caroline's doctor Dr Angelo appeared some episodes beforehand, appearing as a long-haired brunette...do we think that the intention was for Dr Angelo to play the future love interest of Ridge, and was re-cast as the new character of Dr Hayes who looked quite similar???

HAHA! No, I wish, we were behind for sooooo long, constantly getting spoiled months in advance in magazines...when I'd go to the US on little holidays in 1990 and 1993, I'd be propelled into the future watching scenes that would be ages away for us in Australia, and be captivated...literally the last few months before the pandemic hit Ten started showing doubles and then we caught up! I suspect they wish they hadn't, as they'd have had new episodes to play through that production break.

We started off 8 months behind at the end of 1987. Taking advantage of the US preemptions of which we got far fewer and some double airings when it changed timeslot, by January 1993 Network 10 must have narrowed the gap to 5 months based on this being episode 1300 as @soapwikijohn has determined. It took us to finally catch up after 3 decades as the pandemic hit, and production stopped. Then we got 50 classic episodes and some more recent repeats, many of which were different to the North American classic repeats, before new episodes returned. Presently, Network 10 air new episodes at 4.30pm weekdays about 3 days behind the US. 10play, Network 10’s streaming service, uploads them fast-tracked at around 8am AEDT Tuesday to Saturday due to the time difference. This includes the 2.5 minute bonus scene for the international market that North America does not get to see broadcast or streamed.

That is great marketing. Yes, B&B became huge in Italy in the 1990's. They started when I was there in 1990 with double episodes as they were so far behind. Yes, I seem to remember Y&R being on when I was there in 1983 on a family holiday, and it was called Febre D'Amore (Fever of Love)...which is similar to the French title Les Feux de L'Amour (Fires of Love). Sheila Carter Story on YT is great if you're wanting to fill in some Y&R Sheila gaps for episodes not in the Vault, but the missing clips are pretty much the French links provided. A great recent resource, one which I hope runs and runs to build the Sheila library. Thank you! I'm sure everyone would much rather the superior HQ Cala versions than some of the blurry versions we have in the Vault. The blurry ones can always be deleted once we're sure nothing was cut from the Cala transmission. Fingers crossed they're not in the business of cutting scenes like Ten in Australia does!

So funny the efforts we go to to fulfil some sort of order. In Australia we never got to experience Sheila first on Y&R and then on B&B. As we were 3 years behind Y&R and 8 months behind B&B, we got Sheila first on B&B. When I found out that she started on Y&R, I waited until we caught up to Sheila's arrival, and started watching her bits on Y&R. A very messy way to do it but it was all I could do in that era! Now in my B&B rewatch I'm up to May 1990, and Sheila has just arrived on Y&R! There's this French person on Youtube uploading all the Sheila scenes in English and some French, called Sheila Carter Story (easy to find in a Youtube search if you're interested), so I am watching the Y&R scenes side by side with the airdates for B&B so that when Sheila arrives on B&B in 1992, I'm all caught up and for the first time will have experienced the two shows together like the North Americans did! I did French for a year in 1980 and nothing since, and I remember very basic words, so wish we luck watching the French clips. I'm sure I will get the drift even if I don't understand the words!

Seriously, your efforts look just beautiful, and a bonus that there's no subtitles at the bottom. If the one you just posted was the Friday airing, fingers crossed that means that the first one from the marathon is one of the ones that you weren't able to capture after the first two you so wonderfully provided us (ie. 2040 likely the 'Monday' episode)...I think so far what you have been able to obtain is 2037, 2038, 2041-2044. Thanks so much once again, it is very much appreciated by us.

I dare say however many appear in the marathon is how many aired during the week. If it’s not too much trouble to crop out the ads either side of the episode, great, if not, no biggie, we’d rather have the episode with ads than no episode at all! Ah so to me it seems the 3pm is the repeat from the day before and 3.30pm airing is the new one, especially if you are recording the 3-4pm block. Thanks so much again.

I've checked Bob for TV Soaps on YouTube and it seems he has uploaded a lot more episodes from the 2000s since we last spoke about his treasure trove, so I've managed to find and upload the following to 2009 to complete these partial episodes that the official channel had on YouTube: 5579, 5580, 5581 and 5585. Enjoy. It's probably worth me/us checking Bob's channel every now and then, as it seems he adds to it sporadically (lots of other soaps on there too). ****** Someone has posted on archive.org this Entertainment Tonight behind the scenes clip of when Sheila went to the santitarium after taking poison at her Goodbye Party. Not the greatest quality but Kimberlin is very entertaining. Enjoy. https://archive.org/details/capture-a-3902

Silly me. Not sure why I wrote 1995. In my head I didn't think it possible Sheila romanced Eric, he got divorced from Brooke, Sheila married him, and had marital issues all within the space of 18 months! Things happen fast on soaps!!! Catalina was indeed November 1993. Yes they really should put both episode number and airdate in the video title. Although if you expand the description it shows the episode number. This was a planned thing to drop up to episode 56 on October 1st, it was advertised in their banner as coming October 1. So yes I agree, they've listened to complaints about the daily drop and will likely drop them now in blocks.

Yes thank you so much 🙏...I'm sure someone with good tech knowledge would be able to give some advice to create the file directly in mp4 than having to re-encode. I guess it depends what program you're using? From what I can work out, they MAY be episodes 2037 (12 May 1995) and 2038 (15 May 1995). Hopefully someone can confirm or dispute LOL. For such small file sizes, they're not too bad!! PS I didn't realise we ever had Michael Clarke Duncan from The Green Mile on the show!
