Yes I think it's likely that the networks will cover the National Cathedral funeral, but obviously not the private funeral later in Plains. If it's only the Cathedral ceremony itself, then it might not impact the soaps. However, I speculate that the networks might possibly? have coverage for several hours around the funerals, including the transport ceremonies as his body and his family are brought on and off aircraft, and the family staying at Blair House (the guest house next to the White House) etc. But I'm only speculating.

Regarding possible preemptions for President Jimmy Carter, I don't know yet. But likely that soaps will be preempted Thursday January 9th? Ceremonies, public events, and funerals January 4-9, 2025 President Jimmy Carter funeral proceedings began today Saturday January 4th in Plains, Georgia, and then at the Carter Center in Atlanta. His body will be in repose in Atlanta for a few days, and the public is invited to pay their respects in Atlanta throughout this time. Then he will be brought to Washington DC. His body will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol Building for a few days. The public is invited to pay their respects at the Capitol Tuesday evening January 7 and specific hours Wednesday January 8. Funeral at the National Cathedral Thursday January 9. Then he will be brought back to Plains, Georgia, later the same day, for a private family funeral at the Plains church, and burial at home. I didn't quote specific times, so as to prevent myself from making errors that I cannot edit. And just in case the schedule later changes. No word on soap preemptions yet, specifically. But I think it would be likely for the broadcast soaps? (Peacock Days would be unaffected).

Just noticed that. I'd been checking periodically. The "on the next GH" previews are uploaded in advance, but not posted, preprogrammed to post onto the social media accounts at 4am Pacific, 7am Eastern. That explains why both the wrong and right tweets appeared, they were both preprogrammed. Yes obviously the staffperson was finally awakened, as you said.

GH always labels their "on the next GH" previews as a "tease". They'll televise it at the end of Monday Jan 6 and then repost it online very early in the morning of Jan 7th. But who knows, you could be right, there's always a first time. Their teasers are usually several unrelated tiny clips all melded together. This is one scene. Anyhow, regardless of whatever reason the GH intern posted it, thanks for posting it here @dragonflies

@dragonflies, thanks for posting the video and the source tweet from GH. woah! I've noticed for years, that for GH tweets, when embedded anywhere (here, and on other messageboards), the caption doesn't show in the embedding. It's how GH designs their twitter videos. (Oh, I see! Yes. Lisa Williams also appeared in Beyond Salem 2 for Eileen's multiple roles. And also at Days as Stacy Haiduk's double for Kristen/Susan scenes. (and briefly as Deidre's double for Marlena/Hattie scenes) Eileen said in an interview that she pitched to JG that they hire Lisa as Ashley's alter.

It was so good! I was a child watching it live, so I didn't take notes or realize I'd be discussing it decades later. All I have are memories of how I felt watching it, that it was riveting, but I don't remember specifically anything I saw, except for glimpses of their faces and their energies in my mind, Ellen Holly, Al Freeman, and a vague memory of Carla's mother, but I don't remember anything specific, other than my older sister explaining to me what "passing" was. Would love to see it again. Edit, I did already know what passing was, but I remember discussing the storylines with my sister.

You have to tell your DVR to record "all" episodes of the show, otherwise it records only new ones. But even that doesn't work sometimes. Best thing is, if you happen to hear ahead of time that an older episode will air, then tell your DVR to manually record that date/time/channel. That being said, Y&R didn't air in the Pacific Time zone January 1st on CBS at its regular time, due to live CBS news reports on the press conference about the violent driver murdering multiple victims in New Orleans. I don't think Y&R aired at all, unless they put it on later in the day? Maybe some channels could air it overnight? But I don't know if they'd bother with a rerun.
