DAYS: R.I.P. Drake Hogestyn (John Black, Days of our Lives)
I agree because you can see from the twitter clip of the same scene https://x.com/Joeiscool1981/status/1840730594193408428 -- the clip extends a couple of seconds longer than what's in Judi's IG video. In the twitter clip, Justin arrives at the end. Justin is in the @JAS0N47 set list for 12/08/89.

Trump is outright lying (well he always lies but this is the latest) He's claiming that Biden and FEMA are refusing to help the victims of Hurricane Helene. Meanwhile the governors of the affected states (Republican governors and Democrat governors) are giving statements thanking Biden for all the assistance. For updates on the ground: Chef José Andrés of World Central Kitchen is tweeting videos of all the trucks arriving with help. https://x.com/chefjoseandres

Y&R: October 2024 Spoilers
Oh yeah I see now that it's on the SOD website, I had missed that. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/vail-bloom-heather-breaks-her-silence-about-young-restless-exit/ I see they are quoting the tvinsider interview. Yeah I agree that it seems like she's saying the obligatory "you never know" kind of statement.

Vail sort of confirms it ... but it's tvinsider, not SOD. (Stephanie Sloane works for tvinsider, she left SOD when the print magazine shut down.) https://www.tvinsider.com/1154800/young-and-the-restless-heather-dead-return-vail-bloom/

DAYS: R.I.P. Drake Hogestyn (John Black, Days of our Lives)
Judi Evans video -- Turn on the sound!!! judievansofficial It bears repeating, Drake always told the best stories. A kind and gentle person, we’d always have a laugh when we were working together, often laughing until my sides hurt. I remember, back in the 80s, there was a flirtation between “Roman” and Adrienne when we worked together at the construction company, and Drake had to dance around “constructing” in a sweaty tank top to the song “Macho Man”… in Salem… in the winter. He was hilarious and approached it with gusto and happy enthusiasm, as he did everything. He was a man who took his work seriously, but never himself. He was always game for anything and such a joy to be around. He made the world around him a funnier, better, sweeter place… the light will never be as bright again… And he was a Yankee! I was a fan from the minute I met him ❤️⚾️ -------------------- From the comments in reply to Judi's post: --- wallykurth Beautiful Judi. He was an original-no one like him. You’re so right, he took his work seriously, but never himself. Something I will try to carry forward. 🙏💔 --- tamarabraun “He took his work seriously, but never himself.” So true. Game for anything. Always found the fun in everything. The joy. 🩷 --- georgedelhoyo This shows the irripressable joy that our dear friend brought to his work every, single day. No doubt he spent a long time perfecting the hammer routine. Thank you for this, Judi ------------------------

Sinead O'Connor died in July 2023. One year later, in July 2024 the cause of death was announced, but I don't know if it was mentioned on this thread. She died of COPD and asthma, with a respiratory infection as reported July 2024 in the Irish Independent https://archive.is/XRFEs --------- The Kris Kristopherson connection -- In 1992, Sinead tore up a photo of the Pope on Saturday Night Live, to protest church child sexual abuse. Shortly after that SNL appearance, she was on the bill of a bunch of of rock and folk singers at a concert to celebrate Bob Dylan's career. Despite Bob Dylan being known for his protest songs, the crowd booed Sinead. Kris Kristopherson was the only person being supportive. Article in Rolling Stone https://archive.is/jFXlG video:

BarackObama Dikembe Mutombo was an incredible basketball player – one of the best shot blockers and defensive players of all time. But he also inspired a generation of young people across Africa, and his work as the NBA’s first global ambassador changed the way athletes think about their impact off the court. Michelle and I are thinking of Dikembe’s family and everyone who knew and loved him.- DAYS: R.I.P. Drake Hogestyn (John Black, Days of our Lives)

BarbraStreisand The first time I saw Kris performing at the Troubadour club in L.A. I knew he was something special. Barefoot and strumming his guitar, he seemed like the perfect choice for a script I was developing, which eventually became A Star Is Born. In the movie, Kris and I sang the song I’d written for the film’s main love theme, “Evergreen." For my latest concert in 2019 at London’s Hyde Park, I asked Kris to join me on-stage to sing our other A Star Is Born duet, “Lost Inside Of You.” He was as charming as ever, and the audience showered him with applause. It was a joy seeing him receive the recognition and love he so richly deserved. My thoughts go to Kris’ wife, Lisa who I know supported him in every way possible- DAYS: R.I.P. A Martinez https://www.instagram.com/p/DAihlZCxZIR/ abonemartinez (A Martinez) ||||||| It was a perfect weekend. I’d scored a well-paying PR gig somewhere in Appalachia, and my partner for the trip was gonna be Drake Hogestyn. He was an actor I greatly admired, and even though we worked on the same studio lot in Burbank –– Drake on the legendary Days of Our Lives and me on the upstart Santa Barbara –– we’d never met. I expected we’d be comparing notes and telling stories about the fun and challenges of Daytime TV –– a particular kind of job that not too many people get to talk shop about. What I didn’t know was that Drake carried a serious history as a ball player –– having attended the University of South Florida on a baseball scholarship, been drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees, and played professionally in the Yanks organization until an injury stopped him. His path was a path I had dreamed of, and his generosity in recounting the details of it was a treasure. The dude had the receipts. When we got to the venue and met the fans, he conducted a masterclass at how to light up a crowd. He was warm and quick and funny and cool and did one-armed pushups on the spot without warming up because someone dared him to. I watched and wondered at his ease, and it extended to the quieter moments in the autograph lines, when he offered himself genuinely to people. Drake was born to connect. We ended up living in the same town and watching our children dance together and grow up gracefully. (Drake and Victoria have created a wonderful family.) And finally, we got to work on DOOL together for a while. He’d become a full-on sage by then, and like many, I considered it an honor to be in his presence. We’d meet up in his dressing room to work on our scenes, but usually default to the roles we played on that first plane ride decades before: Drake would tell stories and I would listen. I wept today when I heard he’d crossed over. It’s the season of so many losses now for us OGs –– some seen coming, some like bolts from the blue. But losing Drake Hogestyn was a whole other level of shock. He was strong as a rock and an extraordinary human being. Warm wind forever at your back, brother.- DAYS: September 2024 Discussion Thread
This is the spoiler-pic thumbnail Peacock accidentally used for Mon. Sept. 30: I looked at the IG pages of the two actors being speculated for the character in the pic They both have similar hair, beard, mustache -- but I think the eyebrows are different between the two actors, and by the eyebrows I am guessing who is in the thumbnail. That being said, the eyebrows could be changed by DAYS hair-and-makeup for the character, in which case, I wouldn't know who is the man in the thumbnail.- The Politics Thread
Full twitter thread: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1840838823141388623.html Mueller, She Wrote @MuellerSheWrote NEW: THREAD: A new ruling from Judge McBurney in Georgia overturning the abortion ban and allowing the procedure to continue has some REMARKABLE quotes. Let's take a look at just a few. 1/ "While the State’s interest in protecting “unborn” life is compelling, until that life can be sustained by the State -- and not solely by the woman compelled by the Act to do the State’s work -- the balance of rights favors the woman." 2/ "Women are not some piece of collectively owned community property the disposition of which is decided by majority vote. Forcing a woman to carry an unwanted, not-yet-viable fetus to term violates her constitutional rights to liberty and privacy, even taking into consideration whatever bundle of rights the not-yet-viable fetus may have." 3/ "For these women, the liberty of privacy means that they alone should choose whether they serve as human incubators for the five months leading up to viability. It is not for a legislator, a judge, or a Commander from The Handmaid’s Tale to tell these women what to do with their bodies during this period when the fetus cannot survive outside the womb any more so than society could -- or should -- force them to serve as a human tissue bank or to give up a kidney for the benefit of another." 4/ "When someone other than the pregnant woman is able to sustain the fetus, then -- and only then -- should those other voices have a say in the discussion about the decisions the pregnant woman makes concerning her body and what is growing within it." 5/ "There is nothing so urgent or important to the State about the medical records of women who end pregnancies that the privacy rights of those women -- and the Fourth Amendment protections that attach to those rights -- can be bulldozed away by statutory enactment." 6/ "...liberty in Georgia includes in its meaning, in its protections, and in its bundle of rights the power of a woman to control her own body, to decide what happens to it and in it, and to reject state interference with her healthcare choices." 7/ "Accordingly, Section 4 of the LIFE Act is hereby DECLARED unconstitutional. The State and all its agents, to include any County, Municipal, or other local authority, are once again ENJOINED from seeking to enforce in any manner the LIFE Act’s PECAP termination ban in Georgia." I wasn't watching that year, but I hear that Tom Casiello was the DAYS breakdown writer for John Black's 2007 death storyline?- GH: Legacy Character Recast
Yeah There were a couple of episodes several years ago, when Aiden was 8 years old (yes eight), when Elizabeth suspected that Aiden might possibly be gay. She asked Lucas for advice on how to make this feel normal for Aiden if he was indeed gay, so that he'd feel safe discussing it whenever he'd be ready. I think they discussed books for Elizabeth to read as a parent so that she could be a good ally. At that time, Lucas and Brad were still a happy couple. Elizabeth wanted Aiden to be around Lucas and Brad just being a normal happy couple, so that Aiden would see that this could be possible for him someday if he was indeed gay. Aiden wanted to go ice skating. Elizabeth and Lucas quietly arranged it so that Lucas and Brad would just be "coincidentally* at the ice rink (or frozen pond or whatever) skating .. at the same time that Elizabeth and Aiden would be there. This would give Aiden the opportunity to see Lucas and Brad naturally together. They set it up, and it did happen, and Lucas skated over to say hi. Lucky and Lucas are first cousins, as Luke and Bobbie were siblings. That makes Aiden and Lucas "first-cousins-once-removed" legally, which is still cousins for me. It was pretty clear from those scenes when Aiden was eight, that Elizabeth regarded Lucas to be her peer/mentor in how to be an ally, and as an older relative mentor for Aiden. When Aiden came out to Elizabeth when he was 13, (last year?) ... someone tweeted out those scenes from when he was eight, so I watched them then (last year).- GH: Legacy Character Recast
