  1. Definitely. I accept some things that may happen offscreen, like a big twist in a particular story. But rewrites and additions into a story that happened years ago don't really work. It seems JER was banking on the idea that fans wouldn't remember. They did lol
  2. According to 1994, not long before Laura tried to hang herself, she followed Bill one night and saw him and Kate making love. Laura eventually confronted Kate, who revealed during the argument that she was pregnant with Lucas. And this was supposed to be the trigger that prompted Laura to try to hang herself. I didn’t hate this reveal, but I can see why some long term fans might have disliked it, especially those who were watching in 1979. Lmaooo Did Sister Marie learn that at the convent? I wonder what would have happened if Marie and Alex had ended up together.
  3. After everything that Vivian had done to Carly was exposed, she was committed to the same hospital that Laura was at. Vivian noticed that Kate would often visit Laura and eventually she found out about their past
  4. This should take you to it. https://bit.ly/2A3Bnhv
  5. IIRC, in the 1994 episodes Bill revealed that around the time Laura left Jennifer on the bus was when he started sleeping with Kate (Roberts). In retrospect, as much as I liked the storyline, it really did ruin the character of Bill a lot more than he already had been.
  6. I felt like that episode delved more into the character's personal feelings without hitting the fans over the head with it, like they did by making Julie think that Doug wouldn't love her because of her scars.
  7. That was when Laura left little Jennifer on the bus all by herself. There was an episode from June 1979 posted on YT that dealt with the aftermath of that. Idk if it's still up though.
  8. I think, though I'm not sure, that it was written in that Alice knew Kate back when she was married to Curtis and that Kate was also a patient of Marlena's back then too. And I think Sheri Anderson gave an interview once in which she said that Kate Roberts was an original character that she created for Deborah Adair to play, and that she wasn't supposed to be Kate Winograd. But I agree with you that it doesn't make that much sense. Apparently, Bill had a fetish for women named Kate lol
  9. I try to give Ann Marcus a break. This was around the time that the younger character's mandate came down from the network and when you have the execs. constantly pressuring you to fill the show with new young characters and immediately place them in front burner storylines, sometimes the writing suffers. Plus, not only did she have some big shoes to fill, pretty much every major storyline that had driven the show for years had reached there turning point just the year before she got there. But it still seems to me like some of the characters were dumbed down, and like you said @Paul Raven, there was almost no change in any of the characters relationships or lives once their story arcs ended. And she clearly had an obsession with Chris Kositchek, but then again every soap writer prefers their own characters over somebody else's. I wonder what Pat Falken Smith would have written had she been kept on the show for another few years. My question is, what was it about Ann Marcus that made Betty Corday want her on DAYS so badly?
  10. I'm about to reach the end of what uploaded in 1990 as well. Hope more are uploaded. I'm really liking that the show took a musical turn in 1990. Did Bill Bell intentionally choose to add musical performances to the show for any reason?
  11. Thanks for letting me know! I’ll have to check them out
  12. There's an interview with Ann Marcus posted on this thread a couple of pages back in which she revealed that Betty Corday wanted her for a while, and offered her a very sweet deal, basically whatever Ann Marcus wanted, in order for her to become head writer. But I guess all those high hopes ended when the ratings slipped. In the interview, Ann also goes on about how hard it is to be a head writer on a soap, and suggests that a head writer's stint should only last like two years.
  13. When they were discussing Capitol's cancellation, Nicholas Walker said that John Conboy hinted that Bill Bell played a part in the cancellation because Conboy had left Y&R Apparently, Conboy's words were, "There's always retribution when you leave a Bell soap"
  14. So it appears that Bill Bell was not a very nice guy
  15. Well, who is this?
  16. I've been admiring the view since I was a teen 😍 I'm actually looking forward to this reboot. It looks like it's going to be really good.
  17. From what it sounds like, the only reason she was killed off was because Lemay wanted Nancy Marchand to appear on Lover and Friends/For Richer or Poorer.
  18. I'd love to see that scene where she died. All nice and peaceful, singing "Bye Bye Blackbird" and then she was gone. Lemay said he wrote it like that on purpose in order to show someone just simply accepting that it was just their time.
  19. Wtf? What kind of bulls..t is that?? Contribute to the conversation as much you want, @vetsoapfan. I love reading your posts, (even about the soaps that I never watched) and I'm sure a lot of posters on here do to.
  20. I don't even mind SORASing that much, but even I admit that DAYS took it to the extreme with Mike and David and a lot of other characters. I mean, Tom and Alice lived long enough to see their great-great grandchild reach adulthood. Is that even possible in real life lol? I get the need for younger characters, but the show could have spent more time showing these characters in their teen years rather than marrying them off and giving them families of their own so quickly, or de-SORASing them when they were brought back into the show.
  21. Lots of episodes being uploaded on this channel.
  22. Corinne Jacker clearly had no sense of pacing or characterization. Two months after all of that aired, Pete and Diana already wanted to get married. And it wasn't just with them; a lot of storylines at this time were rushed or dropped entirely, while others went on far longer than they needed to. Yeah. That's him.
  23. It was all Rauch and Lemay. They loved her and disliked Jacqueline Courtney. And by the time they left, the show had been focused on Rachel and Mac for so long already that all subsequent producers and writers just went with them.
  24. Brian Bloom's eyes are something else lol 😍
