GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
Please don't say 'with all due respect' when you're not showing any. And please stop pretending you were born yesterday and have no idea how these kind of situations often work re: PR, both in daytime and outside of it. This rumor is making traction, but as the network has done many times before, they're ignoring it for as long as they can because it's only buzzing among fans online, because all the soap blogs - which do have the information already - have openly said they are unable to report on it at present or speak about it due to their own symbiotic relationships with the networks. They are under a gag order. This is verifiable if you look, which you won't do because your personal ego is now invested in a one-sided debate you have invented unto yourself re: the moral imperative of actors being fired due to vaccine noncompliance and how fans should talk about them. Anyway: Your credulousness and discomfort with this discussion is not any of our shared responsibility or problem. If you're unhappy with the way this rumor is being discussed, the solution is to use your browser to click out of the tab or go back to the main forum. Best of luck.

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
It's also Friday, which may mean a Friday news dump in the afternoon (for those of you who simply believe everything you read, a Friday news dump is what politicians or companies often do when faced with bad news - dump it at 5 PM over the weekend). Or they may be trying to salvage the situation and convince Burton to get vaxxed before having to go to the press and face the music. Who knows.

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
Which they haven't done yet but could at any moment, and I didn't get my info from Twitter or from 'social media poseurs'. You will note there has been no denial, only silence. And frankly, Deadline is often the last to know re: soap news. Daytime is considered beneath them and so they are easily rolled by soap execs bc their interest in digging deeper is negligible. Whereas the actual soap press are simply bought into silence on scandals due to their symbiotic relationship with the daytime end of the networks, as they have been since the '60s. But you're right, I'm sure none of us can think of a reason why GH would try to keep a lid on a major firing of the biggest star of their show for 20 years until such time as they can't avoid it any longer.

That was a favorite of mine too. He was such an ass.

Steve and Bradford Anderson also abruptly cancelled an IG live(? I think that's what it was) yesterday.

The Oprah Winfrey Show memories
LMAO, what? The Iyanla Vanzant reunion near the end. Very juicy and scandalous, sure, and they're both 100% operators and self-important windbags to a certain point obviously trying to get out of ahead of the other as being in the right during that fateful conversation. But it also felt earnest and right. I'll semi-shamefully admit I love Iyanla's silly show on OWN, so I'm glad they patched it up. I never bought into Iyanla, but I missed her when she was gone.

ALL: Storylines that took the biggest risks and got the biggest rewards?
It was one of few wholly great things JFP did. It gave Zaslow some final dignity as a performer. On a side note: They never revisited David Renaldi's past or mined his spy background for story in future years though with the Cramer characters still on canvas, and I felt that was a mistake. There was plenty to work with, particularly if you brought back Brynn Thayer for a visit. (IIRC, Thayer knew they had intended to kill Jenny off to simplify the focus of the ALS storyline and had consented to it, with the caveat either explicit or implicit from the show that they could easily resurrect her in future.)

GENERAL HOSPITAL November 2021 Discussion Thread
So are they finally playing the Robert/Olivia beat? They've been teasing that since the early 2010s, and Lisa and Tristan Rogers have always had serious chemistry. I know they had her doing caper stuff with him, but I don't know how far it's gone.

Susan Lucci Confirms Plans to Join ‘Pine Valley’ If the In Development Project Gets the Green Light from ABC
Timing and upper management's incompetence, but yes. I thought the productions were excellent, but above the actual shows themselves the two big fly by night VCs behind Prospect Park allegedly paid next to no one for their work. And it was clear they were doing scammy, shady [!@#$%^&*] even when the shows were ongoing. While ABC and GH behaved arrogantly all along about their 'rights' to the shows, PP was not above issuing amateur hour, pre-Trumpian press releases and behaving just plain weirdly in public. Either way, the shows themselves were great and I agree they'd be hits today. I have my doubts about any primetime soap not burning itself out quickly in today's network climate, but I hope PV turns out well if it goes forward and I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for a pilot script. I do think SMG is guaranteed to return if it goes ahead. Does Peyton Place technically qualify? I guess it was a film first, then daytime last?

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
Why did they rewind the clock back to 2013 and bring back a host of other played out characters (Chloe, Kevin, Chelsea, etc)?

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
I 100% think CBS will jump at the chance to rehire Burton again if he vaxxes. They still haven't given up on being a bad ABC soap.

Yes, this is what I mean. I have not seen the pilot script, though I have my ways and have been looking for it. It may well be great. But Susan simply saying 'if it happens, I'm in' is a big if with no confirmed commitment from the network yet - it's just the wishes of an actor. It doesn't tell us much that's new about the status of the project.

Big if.

Saved By the Bell
Again, nice to see Lark out among the folks. Mario Lopez still has comic timing ("I see that") and chemistry with Elizabeth Berkeley and I don't apologize for loving it! Also loving the Showgirls dance move callback Elizabeth does here - I've watched that movie at least 50 times, God help me.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
These 1980-81/83 eps are really exceptional so far. You can see how well they wove the classic canvas and the new one, despite a few meh recasts like Vinnie #3. The Marco/Edwina stuff is just fantastic, and the working class/outcast crew of Karen, Kat, Ina Hopkins and Ed just chilling with some beers unpacking it all is very naturalistic for most soaps of the period (or now). Were OLTL around now it would be fun to see Klenck make a brief appearance as Edwina, still a journalist barracuda. She probably wouldn't do it given her current career but who knows; she was happy to talk to Jeff Giles a few years ago. Maybe Edwina had Marco's kid on the sly. It is very surreal to see Julie Montgomery's dewy Samantha in her early appearance in that '77 episode at Karen and Larry's wedding, a teen maybe flirting with Josh Hall, and then going to '80 and seeing her paired with old Asa. Dorian and Karen crackled - I think I've seen Karen talk about her before, but I've never seen them interact (or her or Carla with Clint!). I had a feeling Judith Light would be the one to take it to Robin fully on her level and I was right; she was a match.

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
That's not what happened here. If you want me to not delight in the alleged dismissal of an actor who's dominated the show for the century thus far and whose boorish BTS behavior has been an issue more than once, including pushing a pyramid scheme onscreen and to fans which should've gotten him fired, you better call a traffic cop.
-
GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
No, it doesn't. This is a public health issue. I'd push for the removal of anyone who did this, and I was fairly certain until the last 24 hours that Burton was vaccinated despite my distaste for his character onscreen.

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
Cameron has done well so far, better than I anticipated though I've never disliked him. As a SEAL it is also easy to slot Drew into a law-abiding Jason-style role like the more white hat action heroes GH has often had, from Scorpio and Anna to Frisco and old school Luke, or even Dante and Lucky (neither of whom had their potential fully realized). The issue with the reign of the mob is all of those classic GH archetypes were simply rolled into Jason.

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
It will hit his ego, though. It did last time; he thought he was too big to be let go. The big CBS/Y&R fanfare over his hiring back in 2012 was in part a sop to his pride. I don't care what gets him out, or for how long, so long as he's gone.

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
I've been praying it for decades at this point, but as I said, I'm amazed such a bottom line operator would let COVID [!@#$%^&*] up his money.

GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
If you think news of the biggest star on General Hospital and one of the biggest left on daytime (allegedly) being fired for vaccine noncompliance should simply be buried in an larger meta-thread and not get its own OP - or that someone else wouldn't then make one in 10 seconds flat- I don't know what to tell you.

It would be mentioned there, but no, this news deserves its own thread.
