Y&R/DAYS: Steve Kent is repordedly OUT from Sony Pictures Television
They just don't want to be bothered with the show period. Too bad. Perhaps The Gates will light a fire under them, if it goes well.

It is indeed. And it would be nice to see that kind of speed applied with so many other things on the show. I'll admit I am waiting for an inevitable Sonny/Nina scene again sometime, just to see how the new team handles that dynamic. Which never made much sense to me beyond "Maurice enjoys Cynthia's company". What I'll be amazed by is if they let it get as far as Sonny having another foolish mob wedding to Ava Jerome. And they should tbh. A fatal mistake he made with Claudia before and is completely inclined to repeat, because in the years since he has learned very little and he proved that many times, starting with letting Brenda walk out. And Ava is a lot smarter than Claudia.

I don't think there is any getting rid of Frank in the current situation for daytime, or at least I'd be shocked if there was. It would take an Alarr-level scandal to get him out IMO. So I choose to focus on what can be changed. Watching it daily I think the show has been much improved, but there are still a ton of issues (starting with shows like today) and it remains to be seen whose control or vision will prevail. It is too soon to know about that or about the cast.

I agree erasing Andy and Fred was very stupid.

I haven't seen all of today yet but it seems like the perils of Frank - too many obnoxious kids he can't let go of, too many banked guarantees or block-taped stuff all bundled together discordantly which gives you continuity errors, etc. Plus the cost-cutting sensibility where you end up doing a bunch of scenes in whatever set happens to be up (like the barn!). I am very glad they have apparently recast Aiden.

They've had a very solid run, and it sounds like everyone is ready to move on. I'll be glad to catch up on where I left off in S2 on my own time.

If this was the Guza II era she would absolutely be tested with Sonny and then flung aside like Claire, that rando Jordan, Reese, etc. lol. But I don't think the show is really going there at all. I had no idea, you could've fooled me. I just often mean she speaks strangely period lol.

I think the recent scripts are pretty clear on exactly what kind of stealth homophobe and stage mom she is, and it's a compelling portrait in that way for me of a very specific modern type of that kind of character. But this is a soap opera, not Josh Griffith's Y&R, so unless that is backed up with action and actual schemes I don't need to keep watching her going around town conducting the BLQ Inquisition. Act and heat up the story or leave.

It definitely helps! I do think the latest Molly (or as I call her Relative of Cast Member Molly, Contest Winner Molly, etc.) has done better lately with better scripts, especially the other day with T.J. But I still find her to be an awkward Fake Shemp sort of recast, so I'd still dump both T.J. and Molly at the end of this story. You can bring back Molly at some future point far from now if there is an actual real storyline and interest in her vs. the last decade, either with a strong and not slapdash recast or, if Pullos has cleaned up her act, who knows.

GH: April 2024 Spoilers
I think the character worked at the outset and the chemistry was definitely there, but the scenes often devolved into Cameron scolding and castigating Alexis bc of the show's attitude towards her at the time. Then came the humiliating fake DID and Dobson stories for Alexis which he got caught up in which made it worse (Zander sees Cameron kissing "Dobson" and thinks he's gay, haha!). By the end of that he was just irrelevant. But I never thought LD didn't work on the show or that they couldn't make a good pairing. It was the scripts and stories.
