  1. Non-paywalled here. Hillary is speaking on Tuesday, I believe.
  2. Karen's sons (we don't talk about her daughter) are deeply underrated to me, and do have character and stories of their own, particularly in the early seasons and I believe also further down the road. As a newbie I understand that they apparently never quite came into their own as major players despite considerable attempts to beef them up, which is too bad, but I still think they're great. The kids in the various families, with a few exceptions, are actually essential to the show and fleshing out the lead characters - Abby's daughter Olivia has unique and evolving relationships with her, Val and Gary that date back even to story together without her mother in Season 2 when she was very small - and I think that's so important for this kind of show. And yes, KL and Dallas are night and day to me, as evidenced by my many repetitive critiques of Dallas in this and its own thread since I began watching both.
  3. CNN has another deep dive as well. Harris was smart to ignore this advice.
  4. Yet another moment of clarity with the GOP's own Frank Luntz:
  5. Heads up:
  6. Exciting to see Knots trending on Twitter.
  7. Obviously I know such apartments exist, but I'll admit I never quite understood the whole garage situation with the grandparents. I just imagine them driving the family Buick into Nancy one night while she's sleeping.
  8. That was about 6-7 years later. And it did pass, and she ended up getting much better treatment creatively before the end. I think even in the worst of times Nora fared far better than Margo Hughes in the '90s and onward. Margo became a dour afterthought; except for a grim period in the Higley era, Nora was never really that.
  9. Hillary made the right choice by a country mile.
  10. Wonderful news. Marc Elias is the best.
  11. Let us know what you think! Discovering it over the last few years has been an experience for me. I'll be diving back into Season 7 tomorrow night, though I'll only be able to watch a few eps since we can't record or watch on demand yet.
  12. Yep! I was just so tired of the same old 'this person stole X's identity!' cliche that especially overpopulated (appropriately enough) primetime soaps in that era and the late '90s. I believe Pratt even did something like it with Peter Burns or another character on Melrose Place. It's always the same: Nothing really changes about the core character but it is needless complication. Like, the secret of Carly/Charlotte and Caroline? Who cares?
  13. Whereas despite the very annoying surrogacy story Mansi is the first person to make me give a shít about Kristina in years. I'm just glad it's over. As for Stephanie, I remain a Shayna Rose race car drivin' truther.
  14. A few random reaction channels don't count for much. The fact remains she's been one of the few longtime fan favorites for decades in a franchise not exactly known for compelling characters. I'm not going to pretend her work on GL was compelling, but it's a different medium and a different type of role. Nobody was exactly checking for Scott Reeves, Kevin Spirtas or Lar Park Lincoln (among others) in their slasher roles either.
  15. This is news to me - I had no idea the season cliffhanger was supposed to be Gary's fake death at the hands of Wolfbridge.
  16. It doesn't surprise me! They both have chemistry with lots of people. But no that should not happen, lol.
  17. I don't think Reese was ever going to work. On paper it was nonsense as is. It was just another attempt by the show to prop up with Sonny with an overhyped, prefabricated female lead ever since S&C imploded onscreen and off and Carly/Lorenzo took off more than they'd intended. They spent several years after that trying to keep Sonny romantically relevant, and nothing clicked til Kate Howard (RIP). I remember the Carly backstory and it was a slapdash retcon that made no sense. I do think Wuhrer's hiring was definitely a Pratt thing. She had a background in the Spelling soaps and the cheap imprimatur of '90s-2000s cable, etc. I do hope Bransford is well. I will say it cracks me up that Kelly Monaco still complains about their catfight at Jake's to this day lol. She says JB really went for her, and while the recast never worked for me I'll admit it was a very OG Carly throwdown when I watched it live.
  18. I've always said I would keep Cody and have him play the field as the mischievous himbo stable stud (or experiment with him and Tracy after all, which I think PM and co. were/are heavily hinting at). I think after a very rough intro Kelly has found his niche at the show with the Q stables and the larger Quartermaine family, Mac and that whole setup. Maybe if you want something more lasting for him down the road he can become a cop or something, or maybe he just goes when it's the right time. But Sasha gotta dip now. I think Spixie are fine in their current form, in large part bc the writing for them heavily improved in the spring months under Mulcahey and reminded me a lot of what I first liked about them in the 2000s. But given how much Kirsten has come back from the abyss of late I would seriously consider a stronger pairing for her with someone else (like a recast, single Michael) down the road.
